Interior lighting switch

I\'d like to be able to activate all the interior lighting with one switch, instead of having to push on two \'maplights\', then reach back and slide the dome light switch. On most cars I\'ve owned this was as simple as rotating the instrument panel dimmer knob all the way, but not on the Mazda. Since all these lights come on when the driver door is opened, would this be as simple as running one wire from a switch to tap into the hot lead from the door pin, with the other wire from the switch connected to a ground, or is that gonna fry something?

I don\'t see why it can\'t be done, 12v isn\'t all that dangerous.
