View Full Version : Living In Your MZ3

Here\'s the situation:

I have been kicked out of my house within the next two weeks. Unfortunately, I cannot afford a place to live, as 3/4s of my pay per month goes toward my car, insurance, and cellphone. I will need advice from any of you guys who have more experience with your 3 than me. Is it possible to live/sleep in your 3? I was thinking if I were to put the seats in the back down and recline my passenger seat, I could use it as a bed. I am not too sure.

Any ideas are welcomed. Call my cell 647-588-5150 and leave a message.

Thanks guys.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

I would keep the cell phone in tact, but change the montly package that you are on to a bare minimal. Sell the car, if not, (don\'t drive the car) and change your insurance coverage to a bare minimal or place a temporary hault on it.

Apply for a line of credit/loan, and start looking for a place to live.
Hopefully you can fall back on family/friends for a few days, and try not to become too much of a burden.

Also, depending on the relationship between you and your employer; bring it to his/her attention (hopefully this situation won\'t cause problems at work, but if it does bring it up) you could also try asking for an advanced payment?...

Hope things work out for you, good luck

GreyGun, sorry to hear of your situation. Question for you......are you a student or are you working? Do you need the car to get to work? Why did you get kicked out, were you living with your parents and they got upset at you (an issue which might resolve itself with enough time) or was it a landlord in which case you may find it difficult even getting another place. I think everyone here would love to help offer some advice, but more info is needed IMO.

Good luck either way.

(BTW, if I had to sleep in a car I\'d sell the 3 and get a Honda Fit, have you seen what the seats can do in that thing?)

Sorry to hear about your situation.

Can\'t you crash with your girlfriend for the time being or is that totally out of the question?

+1 on the Honda Fit idea suggested - those seats make it a love buggy so you shouldn\'t sleep alone!

I talked to him last night.

He got kicked out by his mother, cannot go the girlfriends cause theres no room?

I\'d probably sell the car too.. but good luck man..

You car is a 2006. It has to be worth at lesat $15,000 - $20,000... how is that not enough?!? You don\'t need a condo downtown or something... just find a place to rent out. I\'m a student and I know that with $15000, you can at least rent a place for at least a year.

Based on his first post, I think the car is leased/financed which means, if he sells it, the bank gets most of the money if not all of it.

Best to try and sort out things at home. Obviously I don\'t know all the facts, but the cheapest way to resolve it is to fix it if you can.

You can always move out later, but on your time line.

Are you going to tell people what happened?

Sorry to hear.

- not knowing why you are kicked out, as others have said - maybe give it some time and get back in your house - yes/no?

Sell the car - unless you need it for work/school, but strongly look at the option of public transit.

Find a place to live. Is there a relative or close friend that can help?

Cellphone - drop to the lowest plan, phone is for emergencies only - no more long phone calls (including from the girlfriend) - on a side note - do you think it\'s wise as cash is an issue to have people leaving you messages on your cellphone on what to do?

You got a DVD/Comic Book/CD/Sci-Fi Collection - liquidate it - cash is king and it\'s no good to you on the street. You can always rebuild later.

Living in your car - it\'s only a matter of time when either:
- Neighbour complains to the city
- Cops come and have a word with you
- Your car gets broken into and you loose everything
- Your health may suffer - bad back - which you may never properly recover from

Hope it works for the best.

SIDENOTE TO OTHER READERS - do you think he\'s going to see our replies as he may not have a home/computer to check up with us.

*JMAK looks at members online and sees GreyGun - \"He has access - that\'s a good sign.\" - and also realizes he has to touch up on spelling...*

I was told to be in bed by 11:30. I was in bed at 1:30. Because of this I have a couple weeks to find another place to live. I am hoping it will be resolved between the mother and I. If not, I do have some friends who are willing to let me stay with them for a while. But i cannot touch the cars! *Damn*

I\'m sorry but that seems like a really frivolous and petty thing BUT if you are living under your mom\'s roof you have to respect her rules. 11:30 for a 19 year old IMO is a little tight but so be it.

You should really try to resolve things because as an outsider looking in... seems pretty dumb.

tell ur mom

1. i\'m sorry
2. i understand you want to set rules for me but i think we can work out an arrangement that lets me stay up later than 1130 and makes you happy at the same time (ask her why she want the 1130 time)

is that really why ur getting kicked out?
or is that the straw that broke the camels back
cause it is a petty reason for being told to leave!

Hey,

Sorry about the situation, I\'ve heard all the junk before from my mom. She\'s threatened to kick me out to, although its usually just a one day thing. Never actually left the house. I\'m only 20, and my suggestion to you is suck it up. My parents are unreasonable sometimes to, but you just gotta put up with it.

My suggestion to you is to stay at home. Get a job that will pay well (if ur not in school, FULL TIME). Save as much money as possible. IF your mom really and I mean REALLY want to kick you out tell her you need to save a little money. I\'m sure she\'ll be able to live with you for another month. Then if things don\'t get better, move out.

Otherwise, work it out, so how.

Good luck

TheProfessor

Even though I believe the \'be in bed by X\' thing is pretty stupid for a 19 year old, it\'s not worth getting kicked out for. I would get back in there, and once things have settled down try and talk with your parents to come up with some reasonable guidelines. Selling the car won\'t likely help because you likely owe more than the car is worth (unless you put a decent amount of $$$ down).

There must be more to the story though, as Broli had asked was this the straw that broke the camel\'s back?

Either way, swallow your pride and go home.

Man I had an 11:30 curfew back when I was 17 but there were certain circumstances to it. Let\'s just say by law I had to be in house by that time.

Work things out with your mom remember you can have lots of friends but she\'ll always be your mother.

Is the car under your name or her\'s?

i don\'t mean to joke at ur situation

Great news. I can keep the car.

I am also staying in my house. Turns out my mother was just blowin\' steam. I have some friends in Burlington, \'Sauga, Woodbridge and Kleinberg that were more than happy to take me in should all hell break loose.

Broli, my mom wants to know where the cheque for the other night is....you know she only accepts cash or cheque.

Great to hear that your situation got better
It\'s good that you don\'t have to live in your car cause frankly. the seats aren\'t too soft for sleeping on. great for sitting and driving. not too good for sleeping.

Heh. LET THE MODS BEGIN!

Chuckie
07-15-2006, 03:06 AM
Can you afford mods? you said 3/4 of your money is going to your car already. don\'t you have to eat and buy other things too?
modding your car is good and addictive and all but not at the expense of nutrition/food and essentials.

Considering the fact that a car is a money loosing assest - and that you lease yours if I recall correctly when you told us at the AA meet - modding will not add value to the 3 and at that - you don\'t own it.

Plan to go to college/univeristy? - you\'re 19 (again if I recall correctly) - unless the parents are paying for school or you got a completely paid for tutition/trust fund - I\'d start saving and hold off on expensive mods. That piece of paper they give you at the end of college/university (a diploma if you unsure what it\'s called) is more likely to get you ahead in life and more things (such as a Viper which you\'re so fond of) than a modded 3.

10+ years of experience compared to your age talking here - your choice in the end.
