Hey,
I thought I\'d let you guys know my experience with AA Extreme Tire Shine. I would advise you to stay away from the product. Some of the things about it,

1) The shine only lasts for a few days, not weeks like it claims
2) I think it\'s mixing w/ the brake dust and spinning off, onto the side panels of the car. Leaving a black residue, as well as leaving black spots on the rims themselves.
3) The tires themselves are turning a brownish colour

I hate wasting money, but this is a product worth throwing out. Has anybody tried the Turtle Wax Platinum tire gel? I\'m looking for the slick/wet look, as well as longevitity...don\'t want to be re-applying every other day.

Is that\'s the gel that comes in the orange bottle with the sponge?

If it is, it\'s true, the shine doesn\'t last, but the product does stay on your tires and lasts through a washing (just not as shiny as when it was first applied).

Yup, it\'s the one in the orange bottle. I could live with it, if it didn\'t leave black residue on the side panels. Maybe I should take a picture to show you what I mean.

I stay away from all Armour All products. The dry out plastic/rubber like crazy.

Please do, I\'ve never noticed it doing that on my car.

I\'m a big fan of shiny tires, but last I read all tire shine products aren\'t good for the tire. That info was a couple of years ago... nothing\'s changed since then?

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww crap. Sorry to hear about your problems.

I have this product in my wash-box. Guess I should switch to Meguiars Gold Class Endurance (http://www.meguiars.com/?tire-care/Gold-Class-Endurance). Looks like it might meet your needs. I\'ll get a bottle and let you know how it is.

In the meantime, I\'m going to get rid of this crap and clean off my tires.

I haven\'t tired the Turtle Wax... I generally stay away from Turtle Wax, as I am more of a Meguiars kinda person.

The meguiars works quite well..... as for the armor all extreme... for the first two days they look great... but dirt has a tendency to stick to them... and you are right queens49 it does sort of spray up the fenders..... especially if the tires are a little wider then the body not to mention how crusty the stupid sponges get after using it .... however there is a replacement !!! It can be tricky to find.. but check out shining monkey no spit tire shine.. stuff is great... and it doesn't spit up at all !! the downside of course is it can be hard to find... think i bought my can at Performance improvements in Newmarket, but I could be wrong.. bought it a while ago... but here is the link to check it out for those who are interested.

I use Turtle Wax Tire Wax. Don't put too much on and it won't come flying off. It's a cream that you put on with an applicator and gives nice results.

I use the Meguiars Gold Class Endurance and it works well. It also has a nice scent to it.

Regular old ArmorAll, works well, lasts a little while, shines decent and protects.

I use gel, not spray because of that reason with the fenders.

I'm gonna try a can of that Simoniz Tire foam, can't beat $2 on special at Ctire this week.

I've previously used Wet and Black, kinda a pain to apply but once its got an even, coat it looks good.
Thanks for the heads up on the Armor All product.

I use my old foam wax applicator. I spray the sponge and then apply :)

Same here, (Armor All tire foam)..I just spray it and wipe it, lasts a couple of weeks and I spray the plastic wheel wells with it also...keeps them looking nice and clean.

Bringing this thread back to life, I would just like to point out that this stuff is awesome.

Makes my giant, over-sized, MAN tires look dead sexy on my puny little 15" alloys...

This would be the gel by the way, and there are no issues with "spray" unless you use the entire bottle on one tire :whoa

It's been 4 days and my tires are still lookin clean!!!

I have been using the Mazda Tire foam that Jeff gave me when I bought the car and I have to say the tires look great!

They always look new. No fading or brown crap buildup.

I just spray it on and don't touch it.

I have tried everything. Most stuff works great but within a week you get some brown buildup.

I don't get that with the Mazda Tire Foam spray.

Check it out. Seems to work really well.

I've used the AA Extreme Tire Shine as well and yes it does tend to spray some residue if it still wet and/or applied a bit too much gel.

To avoid this, I've actually wiped down the tires and rims to remove most of the water after washing the car. Then I'd take a spin around the block a few times so that any remaining water is completely gone. Apply the Tire Shine and let it sit for a few hours. ( I usually let it sit over night). No residue and no dirt sticks to the tires.

Recently I've been using Meguirs Hot Shine. Has a brighter shine, lasts longer and the nozzle spray is adjustable for low profile tire so that I don't overspray and get them on the paint or rims.

I've been using this for ages, and I do like it, but I noticed that my tires are browning a bit. So, I just shine 'em up again whenever I notice it. :)

I haven't encountered that problem yet. I'll keep an eye out for any browning.

If you get browning it's usually just a dirt buildup. Scrub your tires down with a brush and some cleaner like simple green and rinse it clean. Once they're dry lay on a fresh coat of tire shine. Works for me.
