Got my 6000K kit installed at Jake Tech last week, however just want to post up this for anyone who maybe thinking going there to do the same.

- You have to tell Jake what exactly you want it done - even though he may say “the same installation as everyone”, which to me meant, HID install, independent parking & independent fog. He did not do the independent fog until I asked him why it\'s not there, which he claimed that no one had asked this before :sarc , then he wired the fog relay turn-on by tapping into the ignition circuitry – fog goes on whenever key is at on position, regardless of fog switch, no independence here. I plan to redo this myself according to the method (http://www.mazda3forums.com/viewtopic.php?p=157297#157297)used by some.

- Make sure you check the bulbs after the install to ensure they are locked into place by the retaining clips...mine were not and I only found out after I check them the day after. I think I almost broke my index finger tip trying to lock them – push-in, push down took a heck lot longer than the regular H7 bulbs. Does anyone have similar problem with the HID bulbs?

- Jake is still an OK guy, but just make sure you check the work after. ;)

Judging by all the feedbacks, I think I would have been better off by going to Lockdown...

Devin from TheXenonStore installed my HID\'s... did a kick ass job I might add. The retaining clips are a bit of a pain in the ass... isn\'t that right Devin? ;)

Lockdown is another excellent place to get HID\'s installed.

I swung by Jake Tech for my HID install but ended up going to Lockdown.
With install from Jake Tech, does your automatic headlight feature still work?
Jake told me that I would loose that feature which is why I went to Lockdown instead.

good question! I haven\'t try it yet, but I won\'t really miss it since I seldom use it anyway. Call me a control freak if you will. :D

Edit: auto lite actually works...:)

I actually don\'t use it much now that I have HIDs (I pass under too many bridges when I drive to work which can set off the lights) but I still like the thought of having them.

same here, had to work late and he seemed to be my only choice, other than intall it myself with no independent parking using Devin\'s relay kit, who opens late...would have gone to Lockdown since everyone was happy with their work, but couldn\'t due to time factor...:(

Hello Everyone

MZR3, if you want call us anytime and we can help you with the independent foglight modification. I think the issue with jake is that he does not monitor any of these forums and thus is not aware of the specific mods required to do an HID install on the 3. He is an alright guy, I\'ve known him for years, we used to work together back about 7 years ago.

My honest opinion is that you get what you pay for, and while he is slightly less expensive for things than we are, there are issues which you need to deal with after having work done there. We charge a little more (not much though) but we work together specifically with each customer to ensure they get exactly what they ask for when they come in. We also stand by everything we do and will make every effort to make our customer\'s happy.

We do close at 7:00 P.M. every night but we are flexible and can work with our customer\'s scedule if requested.

Thanks Jeff, I appreciated this. Certainly I might drop by later for the fog mod as time is something I lack of.:( but, hey, who doesn\'t!?:p

btw, how late can you accomodate? I don\'t usually get off work until 6:30, the earliest (this is the reason I went to Jake Tech because he closes late), and I have to travel from downtown to your place. unlessl it\'s saturday.

Hello MZR3

We can be here (at the shop) until pretty much anytime if we book in advance. If you are coming from downtown, you\'d most likely be here by around 7:30 or so, which we can acomodate for you. Call us when you have a moment and we will arrange something for you.

Only on your car for some reason, I think my fingers are still raw :p
