Hi all,

I just purchased a Mazda 3 and was wondering if there was a proper method to break in theengine or if this needs to be done at all. The sales person said that they are already broken in during assembly. Is this true or is there something i should do to make sure its properly done. Cheers.

Congrats and Welcome to the forum.

In my case; 1 month after I bought the car, I went/drove it to Niagara Falls. I don\'t know if that\'s considered as Breaking - In. :)

when i first bought my mazda 3, my mechanic said the best way to break in a new engine was to let it idle for 30mins, turn it off, then idle again for 30mins. hope that helps.

Doesn\'t anyone ever read the manual?

Break-In Period

No special break-in is necessary, but a few
precautions in the first 1,000 km (600
miles) may add to the performance,
economy, and life of your Mazda.
- Don\'t race the engine.
- Don\'t maintain one constant speed,
either slow or fast, for a long period of
time.
- Don\'t drive constantly at full-throttle or
high engine rpm for extended periods
of time.
- Avoid unnecessary hard stops.
- Avoid full-throttle starts.
