Hello children!

Just curious, I\'m using a drop-in K&N air filter in my \'05 2.3L GT. Anyone else doing the same? Notice any advantages/disadvantages(other than long life of filter)?;)

Well, I can\'t talk about a K&N Filter in my 3 but I had one in the Mustang and I ended up getting a little better mileage but as for performance......no difference felt but it must have been somewhat better to increase the mileage a tad.

This year on the Mustang I bought a fender mount CAI and other than looking prettier, no better than the K&N in the stock box.:( :sarc :zzz

I\'ve had a K&N drop-in since about 500 kms. You will get better mileage (albeit almost unnoticable). You will get more hp (albeit so small you will not notice - maybe 1-2 hp). In the end, the only real reason to get a K&N drop-in is to save money in the long run on filters.

Agreed.

May make a more significant difference with more performance modifications.

Tried the same thing before for my old car, no significant increase in horsepower, maybe there is such an increase but not noticeable. It only saves you the money to replace your air filter every 40 to 60k. There are also aftermarket brands of semi-permanent/washable air filter thats a bit easy on the pocket, it is only a matter of looking for one. I think, from the makers of ACCEL ignition systems, they also carry this type of filter. :p :D
