Hey kids!:D
Just wondering if anyone has used/is going to use/or knows the benefits of using Royal Purple engine oil. I\'ve seen it being used in cars on U.S. TV shows and they seem to swear by it. They said and I\'ve also read that it helps increase horsepower and longevity of the engine.
Let me know what you think.:)

One word: overkill. It\'s a waste of money unless your car is old or you are running FI.

Well its not totally useless. If you push your car hard all the time then its a pretty good investment. I\'m using Motul 8100 oil similar to royal purple, and am using 5W40. During hot hot weathers and when the car has been running for a while, it still gives me the power that i need from the car.

I\'m certainly not denying the benefits of Royal Purple. But it\'s a little like killing a fly with a cannon. It\'s overkill.

well..over-kill???
We put $2000+ sets of tires on our cars...for no reason.
We Spend $1K / 2K / 3K+ on sound systems...for no reason.
We Spend $100\'s on coloured bulbs, snazzy doo-dads and stubbies.....
Why not spend $50-$80 for some top rate oil?? Not gonna hurt.

My point is that a good common synthetic like Mobil-1 is more than adequate. Spending more money one Royal Purple is not necessary. It has nothing to do with buying bulbs or stubbies. It\'s all a matter of opinion. I\'ve been changing oil on cars for years and years and have been in all kinds of car clubs. I have known people who have used Royal Purple and none of them found any advantage. If you feel you need it, then by all means get it. Personally, I will put that extra money towards something else - like bulbs or stubbies. :D

In my opinion, try the royal purple oil first. On your next oil change, try another popular branded synthetic oil. Again, use another branded full synthetic oil on your next oil change. Then you can more or less judge which one is better for your engine and on your pocket. Thats the same thing which I did from my previous cars, different oil brands but same type of oil. After that, I more or less became comfortable using 2 popular brands. :p ;) :)
Oh..BTW, I only do normal commuting to and from work with occasional out of town trips, no racing at all.... :D
He\'s gotta point, never hurts to try.
