View Full Version : Where to take Mazda3 to service?

Nicholas

Hi everyone,

I was at Markham Mazda for my car\'s first oil change, the lady there was being a complete bitch. She was rude, impolite and arrogant. She even suggested to do a tire rotation (which I declined).

(Side note: I was at Markham Mazda because I got my car there. I was pretty satisfied with service and price when buying the car)

But as for taking my car in for service, what the hell is going on? Where do you guys suggest I take my car in for service next time? I am not going back there again.

Please advise.

Thanks.

I drive by about 8 other Mazda shops to take my baby to MoT. If nothing else, if they ever do end up doing something that I don\'t agree with, I feel a few members of this board can straighten things up easily...

Agreed.....I live directly in between Scarboro Mazda and Gyro Mazda yet haven\'t serviced any of our Mazda\'s anywhere except MofT.

I took my car to Markham Mazda for the first oil change and had no problems. I dealt with a young Chinese service advisor, and he was nice.

Yeah, some people I\'ve spoken with have had no troubles there whatsoever, but if you were to search the forums for the most complained about dealership in the GTA they would be it. I don\'t think I\'ve ever seen somebody give them the praise that some other dealerships get like MofT, Avante and DWM.

You should see my story with MM at
http://torontomazda3.com/forum/read.php?TID=5155&page=2

Both Chinese guys are not bad. But they are inexperience. You have to tell them the existence of TSB. When I had shift shock, they did not know what it was until I showed them the reflash instruction. The service manager, Stephen William and the owner are jerks. They don\'t know what\'s customer service.

I also tried to call Agincourt Mazda for oil change last month. But every time it\'s either voice mail or keeping me on hold for serveral minutes. So I believe other people in this forum said it\'s service must be bad. Finally, I went to change oil at Mr. Lube even though it\'s $5 more than the dealer. But I did not have to wait. The only thing you have to remember is not to do any other service they tell you to do unless it\'s in your service manual. They try to sell you wiper, transmission fluid change, etc.

Well my M3 is coming up to 8000, and I got the car from Scarborough Mazda. I was wondering for the first service, should I go to Scarborough, or that New Mazda dealership at Markham & Finch?

And aprox, how much will I have to pay(for the 8000k service) , just so I don\'t get a suprise?

Thanks for any help!

There\'s a review somewhere about those two dealers. For an 8,000km service you should be paying around $37.45 plus taxes. Add $15.95 for a tire rotation.

Well had my service today at Scarborough Mazda, I have to say an excellent experience.

Dropped the car off at 7:50 am this morning, and the guy at the counter was really nice. I told him that my trip cpu was not working, and that my back wiper sprayer was leaking a bit.

The sprayer they couldn\'t fix, but it is a minor concern actually, trip (KM\'s remaining) now works) . I park on an incline driveway , maybe that is why it is happening.

Got my tires rotated and they did everything they were supposed to do for the 8000.

They shuttled me and my wife to work, (me to the subway) and they picked her up and brought her back to the dealer to pick up the car.

I went with a hand wash as well, which ran me $5 . Looks nice, could of done a better job on my rims , but I\'m just picky as heck.

I got a CD rom from the parts guy as I was drooling over the Mazdaspeed parts, which has all the prices for the accessories and Mazdaspeed stuff.

A great experience, nothing to complain about at all. Total was around $67

When we were waiting for the shuttle, I was in the showroom inside the Mazdaspeed 6 AWD, really nice car. Out of my league, but really sharp.

I almost stole the antenna of the CX7 in the showroom, but I showed restraint. hehe

Hopefully they will be in soon.

A great experience in whole.

I completely understand ur feelings Nic...
i had a tiny accident b4 my first maintance last november i think... so i brought it in to Markham Mazda n see wt they can do abt it... they even charge me 50 bucks for just a service check -.- after the check, they said i screwed up some part and it will take 2000$ to repair it..it was pretty pricy ><...however, the worst thing is that.. they said the parts will need at least 3-4 month to arrive since it was a 2006 and it was still new so they dun have parts for it -.- the gurl in the service department was completely shit... and she was pretty cocky all the way and make u wanna slap her rite across her face... The next day.. i brought my car to my friend\'s garage to get the wheel fixed... n the guy said.. wt they wrote on the check-up was completely bull... so.. after a couple month they call me in for maintance.. i just hang up on them.. lol..
Until i went to MoT the other day, and met joe...(a very nice guy)..and he told me to go upstairs and book a service...the service and attitude in MoT r very very nice... they r completely different ppl from Markham Mazda... by far / not even close..... =P

ok.. so today i went to MOT to do the check up.. the services r very good..however -.- i think their mechanics didn\'t pull the screws back on for the plastic cover under the car -.- i just noticed when i got home, and the plastic was dragging a long... n i also see some kind of liquid dripping -.-

same thing happened to me at Avante. thank goodness the shield didn\'t break as it is an approx. $150 part and it was a case of \"which came first, the chicken or the egg\" :sarc

my view is that, if the tech forgot to screw it back on properly (and is now dragging along) and ends up cracked, should the dealership not own up to that mistake? if it was cracked before, why didn\'t the tech say anything?..but hey, that\'s either here nor there.

some dealers (not many in GTA) have recieved some kinda award for top customer satisfaction that was listed in a recent Mazda Canada magazine ad I read recently in Chapters. I remember Kiesbedwetter, Gyro and someone in Acton were listed. Anyone see this?

I agree with the service at Markham Mazda. I've gone there to get my oil changed twice already (I bought my M3 there) and each time they told me the wait would be about 1 hour. I've had to wait at least 2 hours each time I got my oil changed... its discouraged me so much that I've decided I'm going to do the oil change myself the next time around (which I don't know how to do yet).

The whole purpose of getting them to do the oil change is for convenience.. instead, its totally inconvenienced me even more.

I don't plan to go back there to get my oil changed...

And yay! Its my first post here.. looking forward to reading the material in the forums.

If all these horror stories happen so often at the mentioned dealers, wouldn't they have no cars being serviced there?

In Ottawa, I recommend to bring your M3's or M6's to CARLING MAZDA

In Ottawa, I recommend NOT to bring your M3's or M6's to BANK STREET MAZDA.

I also don't want to wait. Therefore, if it's only oil change, I go to Mr. Lube. It takes less than half hour including waiting. But they charge more than the dealer about $5.

To update my Scarborough Mazda experience, I went in this morning for my 16,000 service.
8:00 appointment, got there at 8:07, was in and out in no time. Excellent experience, no problems at all. I think I left around 8:45 or something. Bill w/ tire rotation was maybe $60 something, but a great experience.
I was so tired I climbed into the RX8 in the showroom and almost had a snooze.

Hey same thing happened to me at MoT,....no disrespect to Joe or Jeff both are great guys and Joe has always given me proffessional service. But 2 times I've taken my car to MoT for maintenance and twice I had problems.First time simple oil change> they didn't bolt up the shield. Second time 24k service plus a couple of problems...well to make a long story short I didn't get the "couple of problems" solved.First thing Vincent tells me the mechanic can't find my wheel lock nut and had to use a shop one>I later found it exactly where I told them it was, In the Glove-Box.
Second mechanic tells me he can't test drive the vehicle long enough to check out one of my problems (noisy wheel bearing at 70+ kms)because he dosen't have time to go somewhere safe to drive those speeds, so I offer to try and he accepts reluctantly, unfortunately as the car demons go we couldn't hear anything,... but worst of all they put a nice dent in my passenger door, which of course they denied even though I was sure it wasn't there as I had just washed the vehicle that morning and the dent sticks out like a sore thumb!!...I decided to check a couple of other things and noticed that nothing had been freshly lubricated (hinges etc;) and especiallly the caliper sliding pins had not even been touched.I dealt with the service manager present with no results and tried several times calling the Service Manager whom never returned my calls.Well anyways needless to say MoT will never touch my vehicle again.
Its a little weird because I hear so much praise here about their service but I definitely have not personally seen it.

She even suggested to do a tire rotation (which I declined).

well a tire rotation is suggested every time u do an oil change (i.e. 4mnths/8000km) unless you want prematurely worn tires!

I agree. It has nothing to do with my confidence in them to do the job. It has to do with the personalities of the people who work there.
