CLOCK STEERING SPRING [Archive]

K so my car is in getting its "clock steering spring" replaced. Apparantly this will help with my air bag lights being "on" always & why my car was shaking & stalling... What does this part of the car do? I've never heard of it before. Thanks. ???

maybe it's b/c your clock was lagging.. they are fixing teh spring so that it can be on time.. dunno just a wild guess ???

Was this something voluntary the dealership offered to do?

Ya my car has issues... 1) it was vibrating like majic said on the other forum before it went down 2) my air bag lights have been on non stop since i bought the car 3) i had like 6 or so check engine codes pop up 3) i love the car!

They have had it for 3 days and said that should fix my problems... all under warranty. Not too sure of what else until i go in to pick it up tomorrow night.

So they replaced the clock steering spring and my MAF sensor. It fixed the shaking, my cels and my air bag lights that have been on for a year and a 1/2 :) woo hoo. Soo happy it is fixed!!

A clock steering spring is an electical connector that pivots to allow you to move the steering wheel without interruping the circuit. This is the only way to have the airbag connected on a moving steering wheel without having wires all twisted up.

nice.. i bet they could have just cleaned the sensor and saved 100-150bux (or whatever the price is).. meh

I dunno what the cost was. They did everything n/c under warranty.
