Well my car got stuck new years eve. The heat from the engine turned the snow under into a block of ice. While trying to push my car out ( which ended up needing to be hauled out by a truck) I started smelling my clutch.
Now my clutch slips ever so slightly. Hopefully it just wears into a new surface and I dont have to rush to replace it.
I told my mechanic buddy (who towed my car out of the snow) the exact symptoms and he says it should be fine but if not he will help me replace it.

So bad news is I might need a new clutch. Good news is free labor.

In other news, Mazda found nothing wrong with the clutch per say. They couldn't reproduce the problem (roads were too slippery too) and without pulling the entire thing apart they really won't figure it out.

Every car needs maintenance, it sucks. I am trying to explain this to my cousin, who because he just had to spend $300 replacing a rad now thinks he should sell it because hes put money into it. Note that I don't know your'e exact scenario.

I have put a fair amount of maintenace money into my truck for it being an 08, but that just means upgrades get done sooner LOL

Oh no doubt...which is why the temptation to get rid of it for something stock has grown lately. I think the reality is I'll be finding myself a daily driver this year and the speed will be the sunny day toy. It honestly isn't as much the cost of having problems (although I will take advantage of warranty whenever I can get it) that bothers me, it's the anxiety of having a non-reliable vehicle.

Probably used, probably automatic (my gf if she gets her work permit will be needing to learn how to drive and getting a Canadian drivers license), and preferably 4wd/awd to make it more winter worthy. I'd like a CX-5 but there aren't any used ones on the market really and new ones are too much...a jeep has crossed my mind a couple times (wrangler or cheap out on a patriot or similar). Otherwise maybe a used ford suv of some sort (explorer, escape, etc) or maybe a ranger pickup. Then failing that maybe a Subaru of some sort. And failing all of that I'll just buy some cheap POS?

Refused to engage; was pressing the accelerator and the engine would just rev with decreasing power being transmitted to the wheels. Fortunately had enough momentum to get off the highway before there was no power. Had to get a tow back to the dealership where they declared the clutch was fried.

Get a cheap one that will be easy to maintain. Cheap replacement parts but fun to drive too. Not sure which SUVs, Jeeps you mentioned are in that category but plenty of sedans and hatchbacks.

Get a Subie and be done with it lol fun to drive, good for winters, somewhat reliable, and parts aren't too bad either. If you need the space, etc, maybe look into some old Forester's?

CX-7 is a bit of a pig...same 2.3ltr turbo as the speed 3 with a different tune and such. Plus it's nowhere near as nice looking as the CX-5.

yes sir, they were good IMO. Very fast, good price, they brought me to the back to listen to the car a few times/check out a few different tips to make sure I was happy. would recommend.

Keep in mind this is a 2nd year research method class and in most of my other classes plagiarism is a very serious issue.

I think you may have taken this out of context. He probably went on to say something about citing references and using previous people's work to advance research. Taking people's ideas without giving them credit by citing is wrong.

Oh she did mention that... But not upfront.. The first few lines she said the collaboration part ie we can copy paste certain bits of info from her research papers for our own..


Most other classes would heavily penalize you for that... Unless its a quote from a paper rather than more than a few sentences even though they are cited.....

So I got a Chromecast this week, finally plugged in it last night.

I have all the supported apps on my Transformer Prime, and they work great. however, for some @#$^@ reason Google cannot get Chrome to cast the tab from tablets to the chromecast, WTF?

Then, I try to cast from my desktop, which is hard wired to my router, but the PC does not see the device...then I read that the desktop may need to be on a wi-fi connection.

Brutal.

And on the back of the box , it clearly states "send anything on the web to your TV from smartphnoe, tablet, or laptop" well apparently they forgot to mention that you can't cast the web to it FFS.

Time to look at rooting and 3rd party apps.
