Ill lay out my scenario

I started this job/career in May2012 with huge aspirations of what i wanted to do and where i saw myself going. I'm making great money for my age, have a pension, benefits, a car. All of which I love, and wouldn't want to give up.

But this job is taking its toll on me. My boss just left 2 weeks ago, in which he never gave myself or the other employee the proper training that we needed for this apprenticeship. We are stuck doing a basic $15/hr job when both are making double that. I have to commute 45-50min each way, which has accumulated 174k KM on my brand new car, stops to the gas station twice weekly minimum, oil changes/services every 6 weeks. It takes its toll on the wallet and the time i spend at home. a 8-8.5hr day for me is no less than 10hrs with drive time.

All this would have been great if there was more for me here, but there just isnt. Im unmotivated going to,at, & leaving work only to bring a bad mood home with me. I hate that.

My passion is with cars. They are what i think about day in & day out. its what i talk to my friends about, its what I SHOULD have done in the beginning. I was going to go to school for mechanic, but was persuaded into the electrical field. Now don't get me wrong, this is a GREAT field and if its something that interests you, go for it! but for me, it just isn't a good fit.

I guess things would have been different with a different boss, but he has sucked the fun and desire to learn right out of me.

I guess i know what i want in life, my vision, what i want to accomplish and what I'm doing now is not. I know that if/when i start my new career path, it wont be easy but it will be rewarding, and it will be what I want to do. My choice and my happiness.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful AT ALL, I'm very thankful I've been given this opportunity as its shown and pointed me in the future direction my life will be going.

Jk'ing. I agree follow your dreams, we all have to work(atleast I do), so it's best to do so,etching you love. I started my own business 12 years ago and sometimes I feel burned out about it but then I remind myself I'm the boss, so if it sucks working here or is boring well that's my fault.

Aww, so much self loathing in here today! It is also the time of year I think, it's after the excitement of the holidays, cold weather gets the best of us not being able to do much outside, and people just generally do less since people tend to stay home more.
I think that everyone gets stuck in routine, they just get used to their schedule, but sometimes you have to just take chances and if you f**k up, well you probably learned something in the process.
I know I'm way younger than majority of people here, but everyone has those moments of confusion. I have them all the time with school, spending so much money for some experience and that piece of paper, and then having periodical doubts about what I'm doing, if it's the right thing. Just trust your instincts and take a few chances.

Also, the whole commuting thing, I totally understand, for a year and a half commuted to school, which depending on the time of day could take between 1 and 1/2 - 3 hours! It sucks, but try to find something that makes your commute a little better, like finding a really good radio station, brining something good to eat (lol I know eating and driving probably isn't a good thing, but like when I'm stuck in traffic it makes it better) Commuting sucks, but meh, it could be worse :P

Also, spring is just a few weeks away! We are almost done with snow and cold! Sooo buy a nice new (or new to you) car part and let the excitement and anticipation of the new season begin! Definitely a small way to add a little excitement to your week/month/maybe even year depending on what you get :P

Also, waiting for someone at an appointment gave me way to much time to write this whole thing out :P

See I love winter, I think part of it legitimately is the weather and not in the way you think it is. Too cold, and I don't like snow, so I'm always much more depressed during this season because I love spending time outside doing things (like washing my car :P) and just enjoying nice warm weather, but hey, if you love the snow, that's great, get out to a hill in the next few weeks and I'm sure you'll feel a little better!

Yah that can suck. I'm not certain but I'm guessing our winters are a little milder out here. We get plenty of above freezing days here in the winter. Still I go to car washes in the non-peak times and hog a bay. Hand wash and towel dry. I leave fresh and unfrozen.

asyed -You should come down to Scarberia sometime, I still hand wash my car every week at Midland Indoor Carwash. The guys are pretty cool, if not busy I get to hand dry and wax detail it too. : )

I spent my spring/ summers in Huntsville, Dorset, Algonquin park and north bay, but the BC interior was the worst.

I guess I should clarify. Southern interior, Vernon is 30 min from Kelowna. Maybe you've heard of it? Okanagan lake, kalamalka lake, ski hills are Silver Star and Big White. I live 15 min out of Vernon on a acreage even and nary a pest to be found. PG is about 8hrs North of me.
