Oh if I was living on my own for sure I would not be able to afford this car. But renting just isnt making sense to me since I really dont mind the drive to work and have no real reason to live alone yet. I also am in no position to buy even a condo at this stage due to our outrageous housing market. That said, I am not going completely or anywhere near broke and would never buy a car if I could only barely afford it for obvious reasons. I intend to start saving up now for the future ( 4-5 years from now ish) with whatever money I have leftover every month)

I don't change my tires until it's over 7C consistently at 8am. Usually 2nd or 3rd week of April.

Mostly driving going to be done in mornings and evenings, so no point rushing it. Did that one year, had to change them back one morning while I tried to watch a 2 year old.

20% down isn't an option for most 20-30 somethings...

I'm looking at condo life realistically to start out, and even that's hard.

As for saving, yeah stay home aslong as your parents want you, and save atleast 15-20% or more per cheque and also start an RRSP as soon as possible, as pensions are going the way of the Dodo bird.

Also trying to save as much as possible each pay cheque by not eating out, keeping groceries down to around 35-40 a week for myself ect.

dude....I have no expectations for the Leafs at all for these play-offs. In spite of the rash of injuries to their D-men, they are really taking it to the Capitals. Plus I grew up with the Leafs as they were the only Toronto professional sports team back in the early '70s ( well two if you include the Argos). The Jays, Raptors and FCs were later on the scene.

You also have to look at the fact that:

the Raptors pretty much stunk until the past few years ( exception 1999-2002 & 2006-2010)
ditto for the Jays from their back-to-back championships until several years ago. Yes, they were crappy from '77-'84 with the rollercoaster ride from '85 to '93.

If the place you're at or anywhere really is offering free drinks, you need to specifically ask if either of those are free then order it if not they'll give you the cheaper rum

As Ami stated you need a LOC. You cannot connect a subwoofer directly to the OEM HU. You'll need at a minimum; a LOC, amp kit and Mono amp to connect a Subwoofer. But at this point you probably should then consider a multi channel amp with sub amp channel included along with decent speakers, and then you'll join the Darkside. ;)

I just had a kind of scary close call.

I walk home every night from work Westbound on the North side of Wilson, up the hill from Yonge St to Yonge Blvd.

Tonight a black 2017 highlander hopped the curb at Yonge Blvd at speed, and landed in the corner houses front lawn, through the fence and stopped when it hit the tree. It might be totaled, the people were shaken but OK. I walked by as first responders were arriving 3-4 minutes after the crash happened.

I saw the SUV earlier drive up the hill as it passed me.

Here's the crazy part. I misplaced my lock at the gym and spent 3-4 minutes looking for it. I would have left earlier.
If I didn't lose my lock, I would have been further up the hill with my back to that SUV. It would have been closer to me when it crashed or god forbid I would have been a pedestrian struck by that.

I never walk on roads with my back to traffic, but I have never given it much thought on the sidewalk.

I will from now on be walking towards traffic both ways because of the speeds most people drive that stretch of Wilson.

Shit like that really illustrates how powerful chance is and puts things into a different perspective.

I just had a kind of scary close call.

I walk home every night from work Westbound on the North side of Wilson, up the hill from Yonge St to Yonge Blvd.

Tonight a black 2017 highlander hopped the curb at Yonge Blvd at speed, and landed in the corner houses front lawn, through the fence and stopped when it hit the tree. It might be totaled, the people were shaken but OK. I walked by as first responders were arriving 3-4 minutes after the crash happened.

I saw the SUV earlier drive up the hill as it passed me.

Here's the crazy part. I misplaced my lock at the gym and spent 3-4 minutes looking for it. I would have left earlier.
If I didn't lose my lock, I would have been further up the hill with my back to that SUV. It would have been closer to me when it crashed or god forbid I would have been a pedestrian struck by that.

I never walk on roads with my back to traffic, but I have never given it much thought on the sidewalk.

I will from now on be walking towards traffic both ways because of the speeds most people drive that stretch of Wilson.

Shit like that really illustrates how powerful chance is and puts things into a different perspective.

Stupid neighbours on our floor set off the fire alarms with their cooking mishap. Sitting in the parking lot now after firefighters rushed the building. They look calmer now, walking around with no rush so almost all good.

Edit: it was the noisy ass apt. Beside me. Firefighter joked: "burnt supper, all safe now" as we went back in lol.

I didn't grab anything lol. Just walked downstairs and sat in my car for a bit.
There was no indication of a fire so I didn't worry about that.

If there was smoke bellowing thru the halls, I'd only grab my fiancé and roommate. I have good contents insurance and have documented everything with a bunch of pictures and receipts. Most everything can be replaced so I'm not sticking around for that stuff.

What worries me though are the amount of people I saw still in their apartments looking out the windows....not evacuating.
It was announced fire alarm which had 3 trucks respond to, in full gear, moving quickly. GTFO your units....

That lockbox is a smart idea. I have most things I REALLY need backed up in a few places including a little USB on my keychain but I might do that for the physical docs and paper stuff.

Mazda is gone but I've decided to swap the girlfriend vehicles so I now have a 2008 Mazda3 GT 2.3 5spd to build haha. Wheels are already in motion :)! I did go to the somac meet last month though. And I'll probably be at the Oakville one next weekend.

Went to the Grotto in the Bruce Peninsula National Park today. Absolutely stunning place. Woulda went in the water if it was warmer. Visited Tobermory as well, such a beautiful place.

Not even sure if it fits my truck - but I grabbed this at a garage sale for ridiculously wicked cheap.


So I bought five of these at a random garage sale a few weeks ago. Paid $45 for all 5

Sold 4 of them on kijiji and some Facebook bidding sites for just over $100 each :)

Mrs Default is now excited to do some garage sale hunting for some quick flips

There is Good stuff in Durham. I have flipped a few steamer trunks for some cash. Buy cheap in Durham (Pickering), clean/basic repairs, sell to hipsters from Toronto for $$$.

Does anybody else have a plastic bag filled with other plastic bags, or is it just me?

My wife says it's ghetto AF and wants to find a solution for the massive plastic bag collection we have under the kitchen sink.

We had some plastic tube thing before at the old house that the PO left - but no idea where they got it.

That said - I didn't really like that solution LOL

Nothing wrong with using a plastic bag to hold plastic bags.
Unfortunately my OCD kicks in and they are separated based on size which makes for easier use identification ( garbage or compost liner)
Missus & I use re-usable totes but the father-in-law insists on new plastic ones due to "sanitary reasons".
