Not EVERYone is that bad...but there's a lot of people here that basically have a mental list of instructions...if nothing goes wrong, they can do that with no problems. If something goes wrong, no matter how simple, they are lost and basically can't do jack anymore...

Any kind of error or warning and they come running to IT. The fax machine's error light is flashing? Come to IT. I go see what the screen says the error is? It ran out of paper in one of the trays... -_-;;;

A wireless barcode scanner in our shop isn't scanning? They call up to IT...turns out they walked out of the range of the signal.

A computer is frozen and nothing works? Turn off the computer, turn it back on...it works...look at users face like I worked some kind of magic on the computer...

It's really surprising how people can stay hired like this...but on the other hand, so far, it's kept ME hired having to deal with it...

Nope...just REALLY lazy. The monitor incident went as follows...exactly as follows...

*phone rings at desk and I pick it up*

Me: Hello?
User: My monitor isn't turning on...
Me: Did you push the power button on it?
User: YES...It's STILL not turning on...
Me: Alright, I'll be there in a bit.

*I walk over to the users desk and see the monitor isn't on. No light saying it's on standby but that it doesn't have power. I push the power button just to make sure...and the monitor turns on...*

User: HOW'D YOU DO THAT???

This is about the level of knowledge that can be found in my office...

I deal with the exact same line of work.. I don't complain about computer illiterate people though, That's what makes us money =)

Just like the guy who calls on Christmas Eve saying that its urgent because his password wouldn't work. I go over, turn caps lock off and enter password and leave. Paid 5000 to waste my time on Christmas eve, but a nice gift none the less.

... the answer is most of a large Tims. I say most, because what didn't make it into the cupholder ended up on the drivers seat. Where I was sitting. :complain

Amazingly, very little actually ended up running through to the inside the console. I was able to clean it all out, other that the bottom of the slot the parking brake cable runs through. And since I have leather seats my pants soaked up the coffee on the seat before it could soak into the seat. :bang

Probably. I was putting the cup into the holder, when SPLORT I had coffee everywhere! At which point I my only concern was to get my car cleaned up and I didn't even think about why it happened. dammit i was going to upgrade my laptop to office 07 but i didnt get time to buy it..most of the power points in my class are .pptx format and i only have office 03

I had to get 07 here at work, running XP 64, 03 and 07 are compatible... but 07 was the best way to go....

I'm using OSX right now and there isn't a tool available to do this conversion so it sucks.

Our prof doesn't bother to post the COMPLETE slides either. She leaves random blanks that we have to fill in to understand the material and study for the exam. Old schoollll.

If I get a laptop for myself (have one through work right now, Lenovo Thinkpad), I'll get a MAC..... they OS is apparently soooo much more reliable!

Vista isn't too bad. I have it for my desktop and it does what I need it to do. There are a few quirks to have to play around with.

As for OSX, it's different for sure. I'm not a fan of how they do some things and it took a long while to get used to it. But using OSX on my laptop at home, Vista on my desktop at home, XP work desktop, sometimes windows servers (2003 and 2008) at work and a few linux machines at work...nice wide range of technology lol

It's actually not that bad. All we really use Linux for was to run a web application that passes through a few things based on barcodes to our database...so we basically run Ubuntu as a locked down kiosk running firefox. So all I have to do for those is remote in here and there to fix something.

For the servers, I've just started using them since our admin guy left...but most things are setup already so not using those too much...

XP is used throughout the office so I use that the most. Vista at home is basically just a desktop server to download stuff and provide a FTP server for myself.

And OSX is just something I use for chat and web browsing for the most part.

It's not too hard. Basically, you get the rows of cards faced down and at the end of each is a faced up card. When you clear a row, that opens up 1 space. You have to move the cards ontop of each other but you can only put a lower card onto a higer card IE 7 can go on 8 but 8 can't go on 7. King can only be moved to an open space. You'll also have a deck of left over cards to help out and depending how you play, that deck either goes forever or you only get a specific amount of turns through that deck.
