Joe,
Can OEM Sirius users buy the 07 switching module so that we can switch between Sirius and the IPOD?

I think it's important to point out that it does not display the song title/artist, etc. (I know people will ask) The display is not capable of that kind of text. It will only display EX, the track number, time...
It's definately nice though that this can be bought locally now.

The OEM MP3 player does show the song artist and title among other things... but this at least is a step in the right direction...

Nope... I am saying with an OEM MP3 player it displays the title/artist/folder etc while playing an MP3 filled cd.

Not yet, but maybe soon. My understanding from the M3F board post is that you plug the sirius unit and the ipod unit into the switching unit, then in turn plug it into the head unit. The switching unit then does the switching between the 2 on the 2k7 models.

I've sold quite a few of these kits already.
I currently have none in stock but I should be getting in some more next week.
Basically your iPod stays in the glove box and you control all functions via steering wheel or audio panel. It also charges your iPod. I've been exploring alternate locations besides the glove box for the cable.

Installed the OEM IPod adapter today for my sister's ride. I did not follow the factory instructions to install it in the glove box. Taking the glovebox out is a PITA...believe me...I know...;)
I referenced MajesticBlueNTO's and rsquared's DIY guides online. I installed the IPod adapter unit in the top vent area and routed the Ipod connector plug to the ashtray.
Install took about 30 min (Might be longer for newbies, I've done quite a few installs on the factory HU already: OEM Mp3 player, Satellite radio so I knew how everything goes together) and then about 15 min cleaning up wires and zip tieing things off insuring things aren't loose to cause any rattles.
Pros:
Sound quality is top notch. Akon's "I wanna love you" never sounded better. haha. It blows away using an FM transmitter.
Steering wheel controls rock!
Clean OEM integration is priceless.
Ipod Connector can be hidden in ashtray.
Cons:
-No song info displayed on stock HU or Ipod (this part really sucks!)
-Charges your Ipod (good and a bad thing, for geeks who like to drain their batteries before a full recharge, this sucks)
-Confusing to use...must set up songs on Ipod by playlist to have it act like a CD changer. I don't know if this can be changed but it ain't my car, so my sister will read the instructions on this and get back to me.
-Its an Ipod...ewwww...hahaha...this just a personal thing. I hate IPods and the whole fad. I am much happier with my Sirius satellite radio. ;)
I did take pics of the install but ran out of batteries half way!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe it uses the same port that the Phatbox uses, so you would have to get some sort of switch to toggle between the two.

Right on. It will not work since the Sirius Unit, Phatbox, Ipod Adapter,07 Aux In all share the same port at the back of the HU. The 07 HUs can have a switchbox which allows sharing for certain devices.

You'll probably need the switching unit to use both parts.
I'm not an iPod guy myself. Phone are my multi-tool, phone, mp3 player and (in time) camera.
I say the Audiolink USB adapter is a good buy if you're looking for an aux unit for the 3. You can use a USB stick which is cheaper and easier than a phatbox, and you can still hook up your iPod if you so wish through the aux jack.
Just my humble opinon.

I'm interested in getting the ipod adapter. I think I'll go see Flip because my dealer quoted me $189.95 for the adapter (C235-79-CFZ) and also said I needed the switching kit (TD13-79-CFZ) even though I don't have sirrius sattelite installed. Also they wants $179.95 for it plus labour on top of all that. I drive a 2006 mazda 3 sport. Flip's price is cheaper and he doesn't seem to be ripping me off like my dealer want to. What's making me hesitate though is the audiolink adapter. I already have an 80gb ipod video and for the most part I'm fine with the factory speakers in the car. I need to know the price of the audiolink and how it compares with the Sanyo built adapter from an ease of use/installation, stereo compatibility. Anyone out there who can help me?

Something that attaches your ipod to your auxillary input??
I don't need or want soemthing flashy. Just something standard.
If its been asked previously, i'm sorry. I wasn't able to find it in the search.

If you have a 07 with Aux In, this is an cheap an elegant solution: charger + line-out from Monster.

Ediot/Sebi, this look like it's just a charger not capable of attaching to the aux port. Sebi can you confirm?
Also, I'm still looking to hear about a comparison between the SANYO adapter sold by mazda/dealerships and the audiolink adapter. Anyone out there tried them and can give a review good or bad? Also, since my car is a 2006 mazda 3 sport I can get my car retrofitted with a 2007 stereo? Anyone heard about doing something like this?
If you look closely, you'll see a line-out 3.5mm on the dock connector.
It's not really an "ipod adapter", it's just a solution to get clean sound (because it connects to the line-out not to the headphone) via the Aux-In of the 2007's and charge the pod. It doesn't control the ipod, it just charges it.
The 2007 stereo is basically the same, I think they just run a wire from the CD-charger port to the armrest (but only the audio), nothing fancy.

Well lets do some simple math
Option 1 - Ipod + Mazda adapter
$151.96
+
$229.99 (4 gig IPOD Nano)
--------------------------
= $381.95
plus tax
$435.42
Option 2 - Phatbox
VW Phatbox plus 20 GIG cartridge = under $200
+
Mazda software (FREE)
----------------------
= under $200
Plus you get 16 more gig and it talks to you

I already have an 80gig ipod that I can use in the car, or at the gym or at the cottage or where ever. What kind of review would you want? They are both "hard wired" solutions and with either one, you are going to be getting high quality sound. One is an OEM product and the other is aftermarket. I would go with the one you feel comfortable with.

I installed the adapter last weekend following these instructions:

Relatively simple install....with one major hickup:
I noticed yesterday, that my temperature dial won't rotate back to the cool half (left half). Wondering/assuming this is probably due to something blocking it from behind, even though I did not even remove that unit during the install (see pics below). I haven't had a chance to go back in there to figure it out, but before I did I was wondering if anyone might have a good guess at what could be causing this.
Any help/feedback appreciated!
