Since my craptacular RSA's wore out, I decided on getting a set of all seasons instead of buying winters and then summers.

I called our good friends at Tires23 and they recommended the Kumho ASX's as the best bang for the buck. Tires23 quoted me $720 installed. I thought I might as well compare prices with other tire shops and found one shop that sold me the same tires for $600 installed. And that is what I'd thought I'd share. The place I went to was called Tire Cananda. Located at Weston/Finch (www.tirescanada.com). They were very professional and did a great job! I would highly recommend anyone from TM3 to drop by.

That's an insane price spread. How come they're so different? I always thought Tires23 was ultra competitive.

I had a good deal on vikings and steelies last year from Tires23. They're pretty good, not too fast with the install thou, had to wait in line while they did two other cars before me. Only had one installer at that time, would be nice if they had more staff.

Thanks for the tip on tires, my RSA are going, looks to me like maybe one more summer before I have to get another set of tires.

Goodluck running the ASX in the snow.* Last year I didn't swap out my ASX (225/40/18) on my RX8 rims until mid December thinking I could get away with small amounts of snow in late Nov/early Dec.* Boy was I wrong...I actually took my car up to the top level of the outdoor parking lot of work (where there was fresh snow - 3 to 4 cm) and decided to test the ASX out.* They were horrible...I had no traction when making turns and the stopping distance was bad as well, as I just felt ABS kick in everytime and my car slide for an extra 3-4 feet after I applied the brakes.* I had such a bad experience that the next day I was at MajesticBlueNTO's house putting my winters on.

Many car experts and Insurance Companies will tell you that all season tires are a "misnomer" if you drive in areas susceptible to significant amounts of snow. Kudos on the price by the way.

Nice find on that price! No one should ever assume the price at one place is the best even though it sounds like it may be. I check prices in atleast 3 different places before purchasing anything. Even though the prices at Tires23 are always so good there are others out there that are comparable or in this case better. Then you can bring in the factor of service etc. to help your decision if its that close.

I got ASX put on before I drove up here. I already drove through 2 weeks of snow here when I came up with RSA's a couple years ago and it was fine. Just have to take it eeeeeeeeeeeazy.

Waiting to see how the ASX handles now...

You should get winter tires no matter what. There will always be an Oh Sh*t moment whether its because of your carelessnes or somebody elses.

Oh yes, I will get winter tires when I get a place of my own, but most likely not this year.

You're probably right with regards to running any All Seasons in the snow. The RSA's were very crappy, however reading reviews of the Kumho's proved that they are better. Ultimately Winter tires would be the best choice, there's no denying that. Driving style is also a big factor. I guess I'll just be extra careful when I'm out there this winter.

Well J it's a big step up from your stock RS-A's. You put up with them through a few winters right?

Correct! I put up with the RSA's for 2 winters already. Even with the tread at about 50% in my second winter.
