2008 GTR Spy Pictures

The enthusiast world has been waiting for the next Nissan Skyline for some time now, particularly American enthusiasts, who are set to get their first factory-sanctioned taste of the performance legend when it makes it into US showrooms for the first time.

Looking very close to the sensational GTR-Proto concept shown back in 2005 at the Tokyo Motor Show, the 2008 Skyline appears to be in its final stages of development, as evidenced by these KGP Photography shots of the car caught testing at the Nürburgring.

While all previous Skylines were sedan-derived, the new model will reportedly gain its own two-door architecture, which bodes well for the car from a performance standpoint.

Prevailing rumors have the car taking on a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6, itself derived from the engine in the 350Z. Power bogeys put the mill in the range of 450 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of twist. In true Skyline fashion, the car will be all-wheel-drive, with a further evolution of the GT-R’s electronic ATTESA ET-S torque-sensing system, tied into a four-wheel steering system.

All of which should be good for a 0-60 miles-per-hour time of well under 4 seconds, and a top speed somewhere on the ambitious end of 180 mph.

Interested parties might want to start inquiring with their local Nissan dealers now.

The range over here would probably 90~100k.
I don't think I can afford it until I win some sort of lottery.

if you think about it.. it's not really a tuner car anymore its more along the lines of the corvettes etc... more like a muscle car hence the HP and the price

It was on a car show on the weekend and it's FAST. 0-60 in 3.3 and a top speed around 190mph. It blows the c6 and the Viper away

It's quarter mile is slower then both and so far there is an un-audited claim of a lap time around the ring that everyone is getting on about.

The Zr1 vette should take care of the difference if there is any .... and at least they both come with a proper manual.

Cars like the evo, gtr etc. can do amazing things because of their techno wizardry but don't feel all that fun/involving to drive. i'd rather have my hands full with a viper any day over a gtr and its fat flapy paddle gearbox

The show that I seen had it at 11.30 in the quarter mile. The car that beat it was the 911 so believe what you want, it looks like a 350z to me and I would pick the Vette over them all. My personal choice

MSRP is just over $80,000....just depends how much the dealer wants your money. I met somebody who bought one in the US for $12,000 over list. Some will sell it for MSRP...others will rip you off. Only 150ish will be in Canada this year so competition is going to be fierce to get them. Nissan was supposed to announce the list of dealers who will be selling them at the beginning of March...haven't checked if they have yet.

Nice! I work on contract for Nissan as a product specialist at the auto shows but that's all the info we have so far. At the Toronto show we had people offering to put money down on the spot for one but we couldn't tell them where to go at that point.
