k-dub represent :P

Where in dt kit did you take those? off king somewhere?

Nice Pics!

Great list of mods, I like the blue calipers...I am still deciding on what color I could/should do mine...but i got lots of time to decide... 19" wheels....holy shit man, you gonna try and have the same size wheel as a wheel loader or something :P

For your blue interior lighting...Have you thought about getting the blue LED kit off ebay to add extra light?

3GFX
10-19-2006, 01:57 PM
The pictures were off king, somewhere around the TD but a street or two over.

I have thought about adding LEDs in the foot wells, and I've given thought to underglows. They should be on my list I guess. As for the 19s, I'm unsure I might go 18, it all depends on the style and offset, I'm not looking to roll the fenders.

Thanks for the comments :D

UPDATE: Jan 04/07

Well winter is here, so the bike got some fuel stabilizer and the car got some new snow shoes.

http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/9027/img2983fp4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/3852/img2980or2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

The suede is also gone on the dash. The clips were getting in the way and made some akward spots if you looked up close. I painted the strip a 'universal' metallic black. Its not as flashy or original, but everyone who's seen the suede seems to like this better, its cleaner. Meh, all the same, as long as its not stock right?

Well, I'm super excited...the rims are waiting taunting me everyday. I've got a set of General Exclaim UHPs on order from SSG. Props to him on a good deal. Anyway, once those come in I'm gonna slap the new shoes on the car. Problem is that the long term forecast shows both snow for Toronto and even more for Kitchener (my hometown). So hopefully by the time I slap em on, the snow will be gone.

I'm super duper excited and I can't wait.

Well I threw on my new rims!!! I'm gonna try and take some better pics soon, but you get the idea.

I'm super happy with the look, I know I'm slightly SUVish at the moment, but I can't quite get springs yet because the front rim offset and track is a little large, but I'll look into it.

Thanks for looking!

3GFX
04-17-2007, 05:09 PM
The rims are 18" x 7.5" Advanti/TFT Racing T429
C30 Volvo replica wheels, with a few additions.

They sit on General Exclaim UHP 225/40/R18 92W.

I'll eventually be looking into a small drop, but I have to investigate my offset a little more.

EDIT: Almost forgot!!!

SHOUTOUTS:

Thanks to Megawheelz (www.megawheelz.com (http://www.megawheelz.com/)) for the rims.

Thanks to Simon at Rowetech, very helpful and professional (and I got to see the "Acurabot" up close)

I regret not picking up those cheap pairs a while ago. In the end I'm probably (80% sure) gonna go with Pro-Kits. It won't be until next summer though. This year's car budget is gone :p

UPDATE: Sept 15, 2007

Downtown Kitchener. Just foolin, taking some pics. Unfortunately I got out after sunset so a lot of my pictures turned out very dark. I'm still happy with the results, my camera being an old point and shoot. I got lucky with the shadow of the 3 against my car, it was the last shot before my first set of batteries ran dead and I changed location. When I get a chance to clean up the rest of the pics, I'll post them. Till then, hope you like.

No :blush not yet. I've decided to go with pro-kits, but I'm waiting for the spring. With only the fall left, I've maybe got 2 months to enjoy the springs. Essentially I'd be lowering the car for winter, which wouldn't be so hot. But come spring/summer I'm droppin.

I'm still looking for used Pro-Kits if anyone has a decent set.

So you swop out your red reflectors with clear/white ones, then smoked them with the tape? What's the tape called?

Also does the tint paint come off. Thinking about doing this but want to make sure i can reverse things back to stock when i sell the car.

No swap. Just put the tape over stock reflectors. I don't remember what it was called. Look in the pinstripe/tint/vinyl section.

There are actually 2 kinds. One is called "blackout tape" and it is in the automotive section right by the parts/service counter and the other is called "SafeTape" which is the black reflective tape I found near the audio section at the end of the row. This was in the Appleby Line store.

I will chime in again on this one. Marco gets credit for this though. The tint is called "VHT Nite-Shade" and can be purchased at Performance Improvements (they usually have 3-4 cans lying around). I have done alot of research on this and it is probably your best bet if you aren't near Pac Mall like Dave said :)

I am hesitant to put this SafeTape on though, Dave. It looks more "blue" than "white" as a reflective tape. Also looks VERY bright in the pic on the package. It reflects bright white, trust me. It reflects better than any other reflector for the car, so if you don't want that you won't want to use the SafeTape. BUT that is what I used.

What do you mean? When you order the tail lights isn't it as simple as taking the old ones off and putting the complete new units in....

3GFX
03-17-2008, 03:08 PM
Yes.....but some models don't have amber/yellow signal bulbs. So when you put them in the new housing they flash white which is illegal.

Its funny because I had this exact same problem when I picked mine up too, I signalled as shortly as possible to avoid any hassles until I got my amber bulbs but the more I looked around the more I saw vehicles with stock red and even white turn signals?!? But yes, do get the amber ones before the tails come in.

Quick question on the tint paint - Say you screw up and its too dark.... or blotchy or something like that... What are your options? How do you remove it?

3GFX, Your rims look very similar to the 5Zigen Proracer 520's i'm dying for! Love gunmetal on dark cars :-) (errr sorry... black) (repsecting BoD)

3GFX
03-18-2008, 12:05 AM
lol they're not gun metal or black. They're black chome, little different.

Essentially if you screw up with the tint paint you're screwed. Its paint. I tested it out layer by layer after I painted to see if it was blotchy and still transparent. Its trial and error, light coats following directions.

Other options included buying a new lens or a smoked replacement lens.

sudz
03-18-2008, 09:43 AM

Great point. I wanna hit some of the initial areas I took pictures in and set up for the same pic and see the progress. :)

Did you add any blue leds somewhere to your interior or is that from the camera flash?

3GFX

All the interior lights are LED. The map lights are blue wide angle single LEDs the dome is a festoon bulb of 9 Blue LEDs and the trunk light is 6 white LEDs.

Just an update. I just installed an in-dash DVD player. I love it!!! Pictures soon. The metra kit needed some modifaction to fit the unit (non-touchscreen) but I made it fit nice and snug :)

The new output was enough to pound the cover off my sub box :)

Finally got around to lifting some pix off the hard drive. Some are retaken in a similar location, did a little bit of HDR work, I'm not the happiest with the result but it will have to do. Pictures will eventually come of the new head unit.

Alright so I finally got some pics going of the new deck. 6.5" DVD/VCD/MP3/MPEG Player. 4 x 45W. Aux in, TV in, Dual AUX out. DVD/SD/USB/CD.

I'm incredibly happy, not only does it fit well and look good, the output is so much better than before. Not only on the stock speakers but the sub as well. The same level of base is achieved with less volume and less gain (gain less by about 6!!!). I've upgraded from the Audiolink and 1GB card to an in deck SD 2GB card holding lots of songs and vids.

Although I've lost the steering wheel controls, I'm getting used to the remote which now that I've learned the controls is just as easy. The blue buttons are a nice contrast to the red and fit my blue/black/red theme well. I miss my reverse polarized display on the stock deck, but only because that took a lot of work.

The hardest part was getting it to fit flush, I had to grind away a decent amount off the dash kit to fit the unit but I'm happy with the result and you can't tell at all because all the removed plastic is out of view. I also had to install a support to hold up the deck as to make the kit fit flush with the rest of the dash, but yet again I'm happy with the result and the way I made it, it will reduce vibration through the deck as well. Now....to stop spending money....

That first shot of your screen looks mint, but be careful with that paint brush =P
The screen install looks clean, how well does the colour of the plastic match?

the color of the dash kit looks kind aliek how mine is, in the pic!

you can roll with the big boys now dave! but first....drop the slush box and snatch a stick...then ull have all my respect!!

I really like the look of the first picture.
The only thing I don't like about these kind of mod is the massive amount of empty space around the screen especially with that type of plastic. That's just me though.

lol, the second shot is actually a single image HDR (again)....I'm trying to fiddle around with it, but nothing is done paintbrush wise to the actual picture.

The plastic does match the centre dash plastic of the upper dash, so it looks like it continues from the top of the dash to just above the HVAC controls. It matches really well and looks oem.

Lost out on DIVX, BTooth and Nav. Price was obviously an object, mind you I can add Nav through an auxilary input.

Slushbox to Stick is a little more expensive, and we all know I'd love to have a stick but thems the breaks.

It a lot of space at first, but in the cabin its not that bad. Passenger's focus on the screen and mention that it looks clean and OEM style, not to much lost space. But there definitly is a lot of space.

One thing I thought would bother me is the extra cubby where the OEM display was. But its not that bad, it fit the remote perfectly (where I usually keep it, not beside the stick).

Alright, so I accomplished nothing the entire long weekend except for possibly finding a couple of shots for the portfolio. The first one is just some perspective, nothing special. The second is an HDR. It may not be to some tastes but I like it. There is plenty of detail in the photo while almost looking like a painting. It objectifies the car. I like it. May I add, its not an effect, HDR is a technique!

Thx man.

I'm running 225/40/18 tire wise. The rims are 18x7.5 45ET (45mm offset).

Now that I'm on the pro-kits I rub at full steering lock, and also over large bumps. Only in the front though.
