Mazda Logo

Hi Everybody,

A Friend of mine is a graphic designer. As a school project he's trying to re-design Mazda logo. He was asking me as a Mazda owner if I like the current logo or not or what kind of changes I want to see in it. I thought it might be a good idea to ask you guys to send me your idea about this matter. Do you like current logo? If yes why? if not why?

The questions is, does the logo really reflects the Mazda features like "Road-hugging-sport" with "Easy handling" and "gr8 performance"? To be honest, I don't think current logo reflects that. I'd like to see "road" factor in the logo. What do you think? Please post your ideas. :-) ::) ;D

I don't mind the "M" logo. I actually kinda like it. I do not like the 80's font used in the "mazda" that is on our trunk's. I would like to see it updated to something more like the 'axela' font.

Your friend should not be asking you for imagery that should be in a logo but rather feelings, emotions, or action words that relate to the company. Rather then asking for peoples ideas for the logo he should be asking for keywords that the demographic associate with the company. Whether the words people use relate to the image mazda is trying to make for itself, he can make it so the demographic has the same image associated with mazda as the mazda company itself.

The history of Mazda and its product line will be the key starting point to where mazda has taken their demographic and how they are trying to sell themselves on the market. I would look into the American and Japanese manufacturing of different cars. That might help with how they are handling their wide demographic.

I did projects similar to this in school, if anyone asks him to try and rebrand sony, tell him to look for another project ;)

i always respect companies that put their heritage in to them selves, be it a logo or the final product. (which is why i'm not a big fan of ferraris built after enzo died till this production year)

i like the current logo,it is much better than the old one, but i've always thinking to break the circle, and make the "M" free to fly....kinda like the badman's bat sign

I don't think they should keep changing the logo a minor change may be alright but the basic design should remain the same.

Meth makes a good point. But if I had any suggestion for our logo it would be to make it filled in. Ferrari, Porsche and BMW all have filled in Logos. A more italic M inside a badge would be pretty cool.

If I'm not mistaken way back in the day Mazda had an oldschool filled in badge.

Uh...no. The "m" is kind ghey and reminds me too much of the zodiac sign for scorpio. See below.
