Reason I went with CASTROL is because it says "FORMULATED FOR HONDA & FORD ENGINES" or something like that

The Made in Germany one is 0w30 (probably the best Castrol Syntec oil...since it is actually synthetic and not synthesized from crude base stock).

If the 0w30 is $5.99 as well, i'll be all over that like a fat kid on a smartie (the chocolate ones sbmonkey ;) )...seeing as how every other car in the household uses that or Esso XD-3 Synthetic 0w40 (a full PAO synthetic which is only $22.97 for a 4L jug at Wal-Mart).

The Castrol made in Germany is different than the Castrol used in the North American market. The German stuff is a different formulation and is BMW LL approved whereas the North American stuff is not.

Please hang around the BMW subforum more often and you'd learn a thing or two about German cars. More than that pedestrian VW crap. ;D

1 LITRE (none of this 0.946L business :D ) is around $8.52 for 5w20. Canadian Tire sells Mobil1 5w20 for $8.99.

Yes BMW, VW and Volvo are factory fill Castrol, the only castrol Syntec in Canada that is made in Germany is 505.01 Syntec 5W40 for VW TDI

BMW in Canada geniuine oil is not under the Castrol Brand but is blended in usa or Europe depending on stock etc by Castrol and on the oil cap on Volvo and BMW it has CAstrol logo..

0w30 is made in Germany (commonly referred to as 'German Castrol')

5w20 is $8.16 at Wal*Mart. I bought the 5L jug for $35 and change. That's over $3/L compared to what I pay back home. :( And on top of that, all the tax! Oh well... 5qrt Jug of 5w20 is $25...
