Bah, I'm not impressed. It may have felt good to beat those 'thieves' to a pulp, the fact of the matter is that they know where he and his family live and now have a serious motive to retaliate. What if one of those guys had had a gun? Is a stupid 10 year old clunker worth losing your life?
If they had just called the cops when they had them cornered in the parking lot it would've been better IMO.

Yes, I agree. I wouldn't have done that myself because they know where I live. But man you have to love that story. :)

+1, I think calling the cops as they cornered them would of been the best option. The thieves can charge them for assault. Yes our legal system is weird like that.

If you think about it there was no concrete evidence that they were even the culprits. The only thing linking them to the vandalism was that they had the address on a piece of paper, but that's hardly illegal or concrete evidence.

If in fact they were Tamil guys trying to jack his car I would watch his back. I know a few tamil guys that are pretty crazy and aren't afraid to retaliate.
Good story though.
I would have called the cops... I know when your heart gets pumping like that... I can say the idea would cross my mind too... but in the end... better to be safe than sorry... a car can be replaced... you can't.
Helluva good read but ... viral marketing for CompuStar 2-way alarm systems ;)

Thats why he should have ended them there. Nobody would care anyways, just make it look like a lovers quarrel.
LOOOOOL JKS thats taking it too far. If it was in front of his house, then I would definatelly involve the cops, then they know their names are linked to him if something were to happen to his car, house, or worse.
But if it was at a bar/hangout or something or a friends condo building...like nothing tying you to the location, then yah do what you want.
He has a family at that house, he might not care if they come after him (probably does, but nothin willl probably happen) but what about his family, then you see that it was a pretty stupid thing to do.

Good read, but ya, it's a little too much. Revenge is sweet and karma works both ways, but in the near future who knows what's to come?

I usually agree with a lot of your posts, but sorry man, I can't back you up on this one.* I am sure they had the crow bar, the address list, and the description of his car parts because they were trying to take pics of his car for "Car of the Month" on a forum. ::)
I am not saying what they did was right...but in life you have to know who you are messing with.* If they tried to steal my 3 or your 3, those two guys would probably just end up in jail for a night and back out the next day.* However they messed with the WRONG guy...its street justice...I can't say they didn't get what they deserved.
I don't think the guy shouldn't have included the race of the guys who tried to steal his car tho.* I don't think its relevant at all...I mean a guy like jdanielsg (all 6-3ft of him) could have tried to do the same (probably would try to steal WUD's passion fruit bubbltea as well tho).
I don't think its so much someone trying to steal your 10 year old car...I think its the concept of someone going into your house/property and trying to steal something. Its the whole "protect your property/family with a shotgun" mentally in all of us.
EDIT: Spelling.

Let me clarify: I'm not saying it wasn't them as you and I both know it was, but prior to learning that they had all this stuff in their car the victim had already made up his mind that they were guilty. Last time I checked parking on the side of a street early in the morning was not illegal. If he had actually caught them in the act then fine, but he didn't. Trust me, I'm not defending them, they got what the victim felt they deserved......I'm just saying it could have been very different ;)

Totally stupid act on the part of the original poster. No one likes a car thief, especially us car enthusiasts, but for him to assault those hoodlums and then to steal their money, now that's just plain dumb. Time to reflect on his actions when he gets his arse thrown in jail. Total disrespect for the rule of law.

For all we know this could be a fake story by some guy trying to sound cool. Even if it was true, what proof would anyone have he did it? Unless the hoodlums call the cops on him...I'd like to see that tho.

probably not true!
but even if it is!
it is one of those situations, i would have loved to beat the shit out of them, but it is just not worth it, the guy didn't lose anything, and he gained a whole lot of ego points thats for sure.
if the guys did steal his car (or stuff in it) and he caught them, and figured the cops wouldn't do anything i could understand beating their asses, however it would still be stupid and wrong.
****, stealing is a buisness, and as such it is business not personal, they picked you cause you park ur car on the street and have a lot of shit in it!
on aside note, someone so much as scuffs my car and i will go brown hulk on their assess!

Yeah okay, I am sure you would sing the same tune if they tried to steal your monobrow. How about stealing girlfriend's and wives? Could that be a business? Guys...it is what it is...its street justice so why don't we cut out the "this is what a good person would do" business. If you found two mofos trying to steal your car, I am sure you say "Go ahead, its a business and I have a lot of shit on my car for you to steal."
The story is probably fake, but let's cut out the we feel bad for the two mofos because they became a victim of their own crime bullshit. I am telling you...the intended victim has no rights nowadays in Canada.

your a cold man Rob!
the punishment in this case didn't fit the crime!
people are people, even criminals, and they dont deserve this!
and stealing and kidnapping are totally different things, lets talk about oranges when we are talking about oranges and apples when we are talking about apples ok!
;)
Street Justice is not for vigalante citizens, and is not appropriate! I understand street justice when you are a criminal and cannot go to the police, for example, you're a drug dealer, someone robs you, you have no choice but to get street justice! but regular citizens have no need for stupidity,
condoning or approving it is simply irresponsible and stupid.
it is understandable to be upset and angry if someone steals from you, and it is ok to say, "i wish i could kill this farking ass-sticks" but it is not ok to act. the ony time you should act is if you or loved ones are in danger, if it is simply possessions, who the fark cares really. And in the case in this story, they didnt even get anything they would have, but the guy was able to prevent that, hell he could have moved his car into the garage and went back to sleep, he could have stayed at the window and watched, it is stupid to wait with a golf stick inside the car, hell a crowbar vs. a golf stick, i would rather have the crow bar in that situation. hell, he could have called the police and had the come and wait to get the guys.
plain and simple!
i would be angry that someone robbed me or tried to rob me. i would take my car to a friends house that night and report it to the police and i would be careful, and i would get a siren the goes of when the negative terminal is disconected (50 bux)! i would not say "sure steal my car, hey, you want me to teach you how the gps works?" I might say i will kill this bstd but that is anger talking, and if you cannont rise above your anger, you are not a man!
instant gratification is usually not a smart plan!
