I don't know which is the best one but Amsoil and Royal Purple both make synthetic tranny fluid. I would go with a synthetic.

I got the Redline from tires23.com and after the change, the shifter was so smooth. I don't know about the other ones though. Oh, I drive a stick.

I used Redline on my SRT-4, and plan on changing up the MS3 to Redline, maybe even at the first oil change when I'll also be switching to Royal Purple oil.

Has anyone changed the manual tranny fluid themselves? I haven't looked into the shop manual yet, but this seems like something I might want to do myself in the summer unless its completely messy.

i used these instructions on mazda6tech (http://www.mazda6tech.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=45&Itemid=49). easier than changing the oil.

I did the MT-90 change with my dad. It is definitely easier with another pair of hands, but can easily be done by yourself. I followed the directions for a Mazda 6 as well. Just need 3qrts or liters.

Sorry, we don't carry Amsoil. Let me check on the correct type for ya :)

75w90 ... which translates to Redline MT-90, Amsoil MTG or anything GL-4 rated.

According to the Manual at ( http://www.midwestcarclub.com/mazda/manual/ ) it seems to be 3.23 quarts for the F35M-R Manual Transaxle.

Damn you. I don't plan on doing this for at least a year or two. I'll have to pass for now.

3 qrts work fine. What's .23 qrts anyway? :D Plus, you won't completely drain every bit of the original fluid anyway and it'd be a waste of .77 quarts!
