Just picked up the latest issue of Auto Mart (new car&truck) and they have a pretty nice Road Test write-up with lots of nice pics too.....Anyways accordiing to the writer Mazda has created a torque restriction program for the MSP3 that allows only up to 79% of torque in first gear and up to 90% in second. It goes on to say depending on conditions it may be allowed even less!! Is this right? Its the first time I ever heard of it! Just think, this thing will do 0-60mph in 6.1 sec and its restricted!! Makes you wonder if there's a Chip in the future for this thing.

Yes, that's true... I'd imagine you'd just be spinning tires if they didn't do that. It also helps reduce torque steer.

I would very afraid of flooring a front drive car with all of it's 280lb's of torque coming at 3000rpm, I might just swirve into a pole.
and of course, traction as stated above will be an issue when putting all that power down.

The car is SCARY fast. Trust me. Hit second gear on Day 2 with it, and MAN.... good thing I had the brown pants on. I didn't even floor it! Once I break it in, and relaly give it the gas it deserves.... wow! I can't wait.
