+1 avatar on top.

Also, sometimes get confused on when post ends and sig. begins. This is especially true when sigs have lots of text.

I agree with Pearly and Wtom. Front page is too busy. I prefer the "soft" impression that the original site and the TM3 Den gave off.

I also suggest a size limit on signatures. I find myself looking at 70% huge sigs and 30% of post content in each thread.

Good to be "officially" back up tho.

The couple of days prior to the TM3den being locked down, I couldn't see any of your MSN.com pics. Possibly MSN is now preventing third-party linking?

It's a conflict due to copying from the old database, bringing over all the "deleted" PM's as well. Fully explained -> http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=15594

I think you might be right. I just tried linking on another site and its doing the same thing. Looks like I'll have to start using something else to store photos.

EDIT:

One gripe I have is the unread indicators on the forums not changing after I've read the new posts within if I hit back and refresh, or if i click on the (ie.) General Section link or main index page.

The only way the indicators will flip to unread is if I click on each preceding section link, going backwards back to the index.

ie. Won't flip to unread;

TorontoMazda3 > Toronto Mazda3 Club Events Section > Mini-Meets > AA Thursdays > Fresh Obsessed thread

If that is the last/only new posting thread and I click on "Events Section" listing, the "Mini Meets" forum will still show as unread despite all threads within having been read.

WORKS;

TorontoMazda3 > Toronto Mazda3 Club Events Section > Mini-Meets > AA Thursdays > Fresh Obsessed thread

If I click on AA Thursdays, then Mini-Meets (AA Thursdays will show up as "read"), then Events Section (Mini Meets will show up as "read" too).

yeah, that's a problem with our host. We are investigating other hosts, rest assured it frustrates them committee as well.

I didn't read through the previous posts but I'm sure you guys are experiencing this problem too. Browsing through the forum is ridiculously slow and it's 10 am rite now.
I also get disconnected and not be able to load a page from time to time.

I on the other hand hate that we don't have more posts like this one above.

This doesn't really belong here but I'll post it anyways: does this forum software have the ability to include 'location' under the members avatars? If so, I think we should enable that. I understand that we are the 'Toronto Mazda3 Club', however it would be nice to narrow it down even further to area's of toronto or cities just outside like Oakville, Richmond Hill, etc.

Hey Guys,

I didnt read through all of this but have some suggestions

1. Fix the time! Its set to GMT. I am not sure if this happens to new users, or just users from the old board.

2. Change the default editor from BASIC to the advanced. Its much nicer.

3. If you need a reliable host, I have had very good luck with mine :)

I have the SQL commands (assuming you can run them with whomever your host is), and my host is www.bluehost.com

hmm, checked the time on the admin settings, it's set to GMT -5
If I knew how to change the editor, I would..John need your assistance on this item...
Thanks for the tip on the host - how long have you been using them? I saw a write up on them winning a few awards, and they were one of the hosts I was considering..

Ami,

Not a problem! I know what is happening I think....

Since your boards default settings are -5:00, it all looks fine. HOWEVER, in the database, the old (imported) users are set to the default GMT. So you can let everyone switch it, or you can force it upon all members. Forcing makes more sense. Sure a few users will have it wrong, but I would say 95%+ are in the -5:00 timezone. To force it you must run this SQL command against the Database (I use PHPMyAdmin through the cPanel with my host):
UPDATE user SET timezoneoffset='-5';

To make everyone's default the advanced (WYSIWYG) editor:
UPDATE user SET showvbcode=2

As for my host... I have had a couple of experiences of it going down. It does NOT happen very much at all. I can count on one hand throughout a year or more. They have also made some HUGE improvements network wise. I find out through e-mails... they are very open about causes of outages, and remedial actions etc. I can;t say anything but great things. I have been with them 2 years in June. I host the club, and my Underground Highway account there... as well as a personal site. :)

Hope that helps. I am by no means an expert, but I did just cut over my forums to, and know the import isn't 100% as easy as it looks :)

thx for the tips .. but i think everyone is used to the regular editor and i for one prefer the old school style vs WYSIWYG one..

midnightfxgt

The old school one is fine for sure. I find that a lot of people like easy ways to change font colour, and have a toolbar for things. Just a suggestion :)

Is it just me or are all your private messages from Friday night missing from your inbox?

S.F.W.

they shouldn't be, because when we moved I used a backup from Saturday...

Hmph. Cause unless I was DREAMING about talking to Broli Friday night, there should be a record of it in my inbox. And there isn't.

Edit: On the upside, the ones from Thursday are there. =P

Edit2: Maybe this has to do with how I am one of the unlucky few who never got their old PM's back when we switched to the den and then here.

Note sure if this was said yet.. I didn't want to read all 4 pages of posts.

The Mazda logo's that used to go under your username dont' show up anymore. Can we either remove them or fix it? I'm assuming they were put there to indicate milestones reached in posts?
