this is to roughly gauge how wide we should allow the sigs to be.. anyway.. please vote!
The poll will be open for voting for 14 days. after that the committee will make a more educated ruling on signature size :)

if they arent.. then they IZ dumb..
1st of all the sizes in inches correspond to LCD displays.. and their NATIVE resolutions are in brackets.. and if you do not use the native resolution then you is teh suck b/c the image will look nasty (well not as bad when you shrink it as if you were to stretch it).. anyway..
17" crt looks best or can handle 1024x768 the best @ 85Hz but lets not split hairs, the main thing was resolution size.. so go bite me.. BOTH OF YOU!
i forgot to put in 800x600.. does anyone still use THAT res?

ya.. soon i'll have a second 20" ;) heh.. 3200x1200 BIATCHES!!! :D
Despite what the poll results say, I'd say we keep the sigs to a width of 600 max. I don't surf TM3 with the browser maximimized. Best guess that majority of people don't either.

which is PRECISELY what i think will be the most common eresolution (the other being 1280x1024) and to make everyone's experience best we don't want to have too many people scrolling or looking at a whacked out screen..
with a pic 800 pix wide, you're left with 200 or so pixels for the avatar and borders and the like and you shouldn't have to scroll..

My desktop computer is 19' @ 1280x1024 and my laptop is 15.4 viewing @ 1024x768.
I have 20" WS (1680x1050) but I agree... we should keep it minimal so everyone wins.

I'm running dual monitors right now, 19" LCD on 1280 x 1024, and 17" CRT on 1280 x 960. Haven't had any problems with pics being too large yet.

I use two monitors to view this...
My 17" connected to my desktop runs at 1280 x 1024.
My 14" Widescreen on my laptop runs at 1440 x 900.

aiit..
looks like the overwhelming majority is at 1280x1024 so we can probably relax the constraints on width of signatures/pictures.. something closer to 1000 pixels..
thanks to those who voted :)
