Just happened last night the driver's side bulb went out. It also happened a few days earlier but for some reason the bulb turned on after.
Any ideas?
Not sure if this helps. At an Oakville meet Juan was aiming lights (on thr33scompany's car) and one bulb went out and wouldn't come back on. He unplugged a bunch of stuff and then it started working again... He may know something that could help.

have you checked the fuse? I had that problem and I had blown a fuse
Loose connection btwn stock harness and ballast/ignitor? Fuse? Remove bulb to check if it actually is dead? Good luck!

good possibility that either you have a ballast/ignitor problem or your fuse is melted causing contact to be there and sometimes not. i had that problem once and it ended up being the fuse. If you are using a relay to bypass the drl's and you turn the lights before the car starts that could be a problem aswell dont know why but it happens to me sometimes aswell.
I bet its the fuse or the ignitor/ballast though

Removed and reconnected all connections on the 1 side and everything seems to be working okay for now. I also noticed a lot of salt build-up on the igniter and bulb sockets.

Curious which kit are you running flipspeed?
and how old is your kit so far?
but my vote is that looks like the ballast is on its way out...
yet you coudl try to clean up the connectors, but again sounds like the ballast could be toast

that's what I want to ask Devin. My passenger side bulb not working sometimes, but when I turn off the light and on again, the bulb is working, looks like it has to be reset. so I would follow you guy's suggestion for loose plug.

I'm running the Prolumen 6K. They've been on for about 8 months now.
I'm thinking of wrapping all connections with electrical tape to prevent against the weather conditions.

you mean you didn't do that in the first place?
Get the cable/wire tubing.... cleans things up as well.

Well it was a quick install to begin with b/c I was leaving for Florida in a few hours. Haven't actually had some quality time to work on the car.

Saw mrs.flipspeed 2 days in a row on the 407E -> Kennedy South and both HIDs were working when I passed her ;)

Only happens when I'm driving.:D
She was droppin' off the little one's at the sitter.
Maybe you didn't have the moisture seal fully locked on one of the connections and it finally affected it now. There could be many different reasons, but since you have reconnected everything just keep an eye on the connection points. If it happens again then its something else (obviously!). Depending on the install method, you may want to keep an eye on the relay, could just not be sitting right.
Well even with one bulb you are probably still producing more lumens then halogen =P

Check all your wiring visually, just looking for loose wires or wires with too much tension on them.
Check all the connections on the non-working side. Tug on the connections to make sure they are tight. You can also go through and disconnect all the connections and reconnect everything.
To troubleshoot:
1. Take the non-working bulb and plug it into the working side.
If it works, then it is not the bulb that is in question. This leaves either the wiring or the ballast on the non-working side.
2. Take the working bulb and ballast and plug it into the non-working side's wiring.
If it works, then it is a problem with the ballast. If it doesn't work then it is a problem with the wiring.
From then on you should at least know what the problem part is.
Good luck.

flippy.. if it's the same stuff as mine, lights flickered.. then they would go off and them come back on.. and of again.. then you might need new ballasts/ignitors :(
both of my xtec ballasts are toast as we speak and i'm back to halogens.. wh00h00 :(
get them replaced asap.. oh yah.. and the second one is gonna go soon ..

On a side note, I don't bother with the higher priced, lifetime warranty HID kits that are out there. I have some cheap eBay kit, and as long as it is installed properly then they should last.
Installation tips:
1. Use a wiring harness with a relay powering the ballasts directly from the battery.
2. Mount the ballasts securely. Rattles are bad for ballasts.
3. Clean the bulbs before installation, no matter if they are new or not.

Justy found the culprit.
The left side bulb is toast. It would flicker a bit then die. Checked all connections and grounds and switched bulbs back and forth.
So it looks like a new bulb for me.
Bulbs aren't cheap. Maybe better to just buy a second kit (*cough* Devin) and keep these ballasts for you know what. ;)

I uninstalled the bulbs last week @Lockdown, found out 1 bulb was burnt, but the other one still fine. Devin still not yet reply me email, to see what's the best he could do.
Joe, which bulb died? The 6K? When one of the bulbs on my original kit died, it had the black centre build-up as well (on your 6K).

Yup the 6K was the one that was shot. At least I'm getting the 8K one now to make it better.
Anyone else running 8K?
