I think a few people have already done this. I just upgraded my horn. I always hated the wimpy hi-pitched stock horn since I got the car. I added a second low-tone Fiamm horn in parallel with the stock hi one (~$24 at Canadian Tire). Now it sounds like a proper loud horn. I can't wait for someone to cut me off so I can blast them. :D

It wasn't hard at all. Took me about an hour from start to finish including jacking up the car, pulling out the horn, fabricating a new splitting wire, putting it all in, and lowering the car again. The hardest part was figuring out how to get everything back in because the space is very confined - which wasn't hard at all.

Man do I love it now. I blew the horn about half a dozen times just to hear the sound. I must be driving the neighbours crazy. :D

I added the low-tone fiamm last year. Sounds so much better! Congrats on your car finally getting past puberty. lol

Shouldn't be any different on your car;

I heard a RAV4 horn go off in my work parking garage today ... it's even worse than our 3's factory horn. ;)

This is the key post right here:

This is how I set mine up - although, I didn't quite make my wiring the same - Instead of 2 wires going into the connector, I had 2 wires going into a butt connector, which leads into a singe wire, then the male connector. I prefer the way I did it.

Anyone tried a HELLA Supertone in their 3 ?

I used to have one of these years ago in my Mazda GLC, this thing can blow your ear wax because of its high pitched tone. This horn was originally intended for a Mercedez Benz and this one will surely turn heads once someone hears it.

have the twin supertone 300 and 500 Hz i think.. love it.. have had it mounted on the firewall b/c i wanted to keep it away from moisture but i think i will move them to the grolle to get a little more ooomph out of them (engine muffles some sound)

Yeah, put them back in the stock location and it will appear louder because the sound will reflect off the ground more. Blast those bastards!

Yeah, I mounted my Hella Supertone from my old Mazda GLC just behind the grill, I really had fun blowing that horn because of the tone. It was a daily occurence to use that horn from the country that I used to live because of a lot of foolish pedestrians and discourteous drivers. While here in Ontario, it is not that frequent that I use my single tone stock horn on my M3, so there is no need for me to change the horn, but, I wish I can get hold of a new set of Hella Supertone.
