Hey guys,
Just curious if any of you tried a K&N air filter in your car and if there where any good results. I was thinking of getting a CAI but it apparently it only shows gains of like 6-7 horsepower when the K&N air filter supposedly shows 4-5HP gain and is much cheaper.

I've got the K&N drop-in in my 3. Before that I ran the MS one and noticed a little bit of a difference moreso on the high end.
The drop-in one seemed like it let the car pick up a bit on lower end.

I went the other way. I had a K&N filter for a year, then switched to the MS CAI. Observations are the same. The K&N filter has a little bit more low end torque while the CAI gives more high end power. The MS CAI does add a low tone to all ranges (more noticable starting at 2500rpm) even for a granny driver like myself.

Cool, thanx guys for the input...and also about the key FOB issue I had after I installed the IPOD adaptor, I went to my dealership and talked to the guy he said it looks like I have to reprogram my FOB's and thats it. After my service, I went to Starbuck's and when I got out of my car I realized that the FOB was working normally..the mechanic must have did a quick reporgram. So in the end, everything works like new.

My girlfriend ("get your mind out of the gutter") has the K&N filter!
Advantage: Apparently with it, she gets an extra 2km per tank.
Disadvantage: But she makes a lot more noise than usual. =P

In this thread you guys are comparing the CAI and the K & N. My question is do you have to go one specific route, or can you put both in your car? Or do they basically do the same thing so it would be redundant to do both. Thanks!
