Small world indeed. If the guy received the payment thru paypal for that auction, we should be able to find out his real name and verified address.

That's nuts! Call the cops and let them sort it out. You've since moved on and you shouldn't risk trouble over a car stereo.

Looking forward to an update. I'm curious as to what the police are going to do with this info!

When you can, definitely post up his name and address and car and other info here so we can all keep an eye out...

When would you like to come pick up the item? What is your phone #? It is cash only, so I hope you know that.

msamuels81 is the Seller.
Sir, with all due respect, you can come pick up the item but I am not signing anything. I can guarantee you that it works, because I do not sell junk. I am not scamming you. This is the mintest AVIC-N1 you can find, but it just does not have a box and navigation discs (which I CLEARLY mentioned in the listing's description). You have my word that I am not a scammer. All y

Do you want to meet up at Finch Station or York Mills Station in North York? I am actually in Markham right now, so that is why I can bring it to you. Let me know all these details. Thanks.

that sucks about ur car.. it was a sweet looking ride.. I never heard about it before.. but I'm glad now that you know who this guy is.. and I can't believe you actually know who it is!!

I guess next step is to go to the cops?? is there enough evidence for the cops to justify raiding his place and/or arresting him??

Speaking of scams, I was at the Warden & Eglinton Walmart last night. And two caucausian males in their 20s tried to sell me MTX speakers from out of their chrysler mini van.

By someone you know, was this a friend at some point? How did you know him?

A friend of mine had his car stolen and strongly suspects people from a shop he had his stereo installed at just days before were likely responsible. If your case is something similar, I hope you'd tell us who not to deal with or any other relevant information to the members here.

I'm really curious now as to where this goes. It's my general impression that idiots that do this sort of thing never seem to have proper justice dished out to them. It sure would be nice to hear about some real punishment handed down for a change!

Classic "White Van" scam - I was in Kennedy Commons and some guys in a Dodge van (not mini) tried the same - said "mix up in paperwork and their boss gave them the speakers". Odds are they are MTXX or Bossssse.

Vlad - give 'em hell.

LOL the white van scam. That EXACT same thing happened to me about 10 years ago! 2 guys in a white van stopped at a light beside me at Orton Park/Lawrence and said that there was a paperwork mixup and they were selling stereo equipment for dirt cheap. I actually stopped to take a look, then I came to my senses and walked away.

I actually had a twist on the old white van scam happen to me a few months back. I was getting in to my car at a plaza and these two 'Italian' guys pulled up beside me in a very high end SUV. They spoke in broken English and asked for directions to Pearson. I helped them out and started my car. They then said that they work for some big designer label (can't remember, but it was something like Boss or Armani). They had come for a tradeshow and all the stuff they had on display they were willing to sell to me for huge discounts. I just rolled up my window and drove off. Sure enough, I had to go back to that plaza the next day and they were trying the scam on somebody else!

Ah. I didn't realize those sorts of things were scams, selling misrepresented crap. I just assumed they were hawking stolen goods.

I wouldn't give them the time of day either way.

damn.. same thing happened to me and 3 of my buddies while we were walking down a side street to the car near dundas and spadina!! maybe it was their broken english but all of us swore we heard them asking to be in one of their tradeshows and something about us looking good in fur coats.. lol.. we were confused but we just said no thanks and walked away..

The funny thing legally is that aside from selling knock offs (i.e. Bosse as opposed to Bose, etc) which would only come down to a ceasing of property order due to trademark infringement and selling without a permit, there is nothing illegal per-say about it - i.e. the cops really can't do anything.

It comes down to Caveat emptor - Let the buyer beware.
