So I buy this radio off this guy from a bimmer forum and I pay him via Paypal. I get a notification that the money transfer has been initiated, but he hasn't accepted the funds. He says something about the funds having to "clear" and tells me that they will on Jan 25.

Why is that? I thought Paypal was pretty instantaneous. Plus, the funds came out of my bank account not a credit card, so shouldn't it be instant?

I've established the reputation of the vendor through other means, so don't suspect any scam and he's been very prompt in his response e-mails. Help a Paypal noob to understand...

its takes 10 days from ur bank account they call it (E check) so ur on the cool side

I've never had that issue before, and I have used paypal frequently. Are you a verified member?

this will only happen if you transfer cash from ur bank account ..if its visa or master card it on the spot

odd, I use the bank transfer usually, and have never had a hold on the funds...

Depends if you registered a Credit card as well for "fail safe" like if your bank doesn't have enough funds. Thats why they need to wait.

aaah.. similar shit happened to me too

i've never sold anything on ebay till that one day .. and i couldn't receive funds till i set up my paypal with a bank account.. and then they deposited a few pennies and i verified it..

it pisses me off b/c since then it ALWAYS defaults to my bank account for paypal payments.. WHAT THE ****? i want it to go from my cc.. can't wait for goole checkout to be availabel in canada and then on ebay.. **** paypal..

their customer service is the worst ever.. every time i had an issue "sorry we're busy but one of the typing monkeys can send you a generic email telling you to **** off.. or you can call our NON toll free number and be on hold for about an hour after which you'll get fed up and just hang up and leave us alone"

verified may only mean you have proven your bank account is yours. If your not using e-check

You a) have to have paypal funds in your paypal account or b) have a valid credit card associated with your paypal account.

I woulda thought CASH from my FACKIN BANK ACCOUNT would be more liquid than a FACKIN CREDIT CARD.

I'm going through something similar. I purchased a battery for my digi cam through RFD and I sent payment via Paypal from my bank account. I have since received the battery yet the funds have not yet left my account!

Just bought something else - payment won't clear until Feb. 13th, so vendor won't likely ship until then. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO STUUUUUUUUPIDDDDDDDDDDD.

if you have both a bank account and credit card on file, then it will be instant transfer from your account. As they have your CC for backup.

Just sold something for USD250. Docked US10 for fees. I guess it'd be unreasonable for me to assume that they'd have this service for free, but it's not going to stop me from complaining!!!
