Suck.

But then I am conflicted when I say this because I stole these from Sabio for a measly 200 bux. A fackin steal for 205/50/17s with 3K on 'em. There was a nail right on the edge of one of them (as Sabio had disclosed), but it was deemed repairable by Tires3000 (but get this... the guy told me he put the repaired tire on the rears... just in case - LOL!).

Traction is not very good in slush and ice. Acceptable in powdery snow I think. But overall, my traction control light is continously on. Then again, I went one size narrower for the snows as 225/45/17 is the stock size for my car.

These $hitty tires may be good for lame a$$ torque-less rice-mobiles like the Mazda3, but for fine pieces of German engineering, they barely cut the cake. :P

On my Mazda6 I had Dunlop M3s and those were awesome. Felt ultra-confident in those.

Overall, in terms of VALUE, the Vikings probably rank right up there (and I believe the original reviews bore that out), but I'm not a fan. I would not buy these again... unless I could buy them for $200 for a set of four again... LOL.

I have 2 cars that have these on including my 3 and my dads TL.
I was fine the whole time with my 3 and i often do drive my dads TL as well and i find that they do the job pretty well. In slush, snow, and iced streets like mine. The traction on the TL is hardly on when i drive it, unless i push really hard and as for stopping, the ABS do kick in easily.
Maybe both of them are new so they are doing the job.

Why don't you go and bitch about them on the german engineered boards then.

I find that the Snotechs are great on ice and below freezing weather. But when it comes to slushy snow and wet weather, it's as bad as the RSAs. Like today, my ABS activated many times over when stopping at a stop sign, and the car was sliding when I tried to corner at slow speeds. And when the tires found grip, it jerked the car back.

I think they're pretty good for the money, but if I were to do it all over again I definately would've put in an extra couple of hundred bucks and stepped up to a really good winter tire. They're not bad in any particular way, and have been great the whole time I've had them, but I cannot deny that for only $200 more I would've gotten an excellent set of tires.

Edit: Oh yeah, WUD, the reason they don't work so well for you is because you can't drive ;)

I have. They suck just as much in German as they do in Japanese.

Me too - would spend a few more bux next time around. However, heard a lot of good things about W300 too. They're nice and cheap as well.

Prof, you fackin' windbag... before you call someone out about their driving, perhaps you should back that lip up by coming out to a lapping day. lol

I was a little disturbed about the Snowtechs as they handled slushy snow pretty bad, in most other situations they seemed fine, but last night prooved their worth, ...On my way to work coming off the 401 ramp onto Bathurst proceeding thru a green light which required a left turn and on unplowed snowy slippery service I may add, I was commencing my turn and then some dickhead runs the Red light 8-| I hit the brakes..ABS kicked in and I swirved to the right to afford hitting him by inchs and then cranked it to the left, off the brake, goosed the gas to avoid hitting the on-coming curb and ended up facing the direction I needed to go, which was after that asshat!! ...but anyways the tires performed amazingly and I'm sure glad I got them now!

The worst snow tires perform better then the best all-seasons (or "no seasons" as i like to call them).
Having driven on these winter tires on various vehicles I've owned:

Nokian
Hankook
Toyo
Goodyear
Blizzak (not owned)
Motomaster

The Nokians are far superior to the rest (in terms of technology, and long term value... they will last you 3-4 years +)... although the Blizzak EV01 (?) are supposed to be good, but need replacing every 2 years (wear out quick).

If you can't afford $900 for 16" Nokians (as per tires 23 as of last week...yikes), then go for the Hankook's or Gislaved's.

I would not recommend viking or motomaster unless you have an extremely low budget.

Remember GET WINTERS... they will still be better then your allseasons

Michael

oh... btw
If your one of those guys (or gals) who say that they don't need winters because they know how to drive. I'm sorry to say that your wrong. Regardless of your driving ability, stopping will take alot longer with 'no-seasons' then with winters. It's only that 1 time you'll 'need' winters like in Flagrum_3 's story.

W300's not cutting it?

I confirm I hate the Vikings. I almost did not make it up the little hill going Northbound on Bayview just past Eglinton. I was slip sliding at 45 degrees... well at least it was fun with RWD...

Vikings are garbage.

lol....true... nokian 2's were great on my 240sx.. 0 weight in the back, and still 'owned' the snow :)

i'd contacted tires23 for some w300's (since the price is $350 less for them compared to the Nokian Rsi's) but they are sold out. :(

good tires? (i've heard good things... )

I had some crazy Hankook summer tires (Ventus Rs-2 Z212) and winter tires from them as well... very impressed at the value! The summer tires are on par with the old azensis tires that i had, but much cheaper.

btw.. Nokian started with rubber boots ( I even own a pair!), and now make cell phones under Nokia.. lol

The Vikings are not nearly as bad as thier being made out to be here but, I'll agree 100% about the Nokia's being excellent and I would have got them if it wasn't a rush, low cash at the moment thing for me. I used Hakkapalitta's for 3 years on a CRXsi and they were awesome (complete confidence) is the term to describe them and I ended up selling them to a friend who used them very happily for two more winters....excellent winter tires.

love them in dry (10/10) - great grip
love them in wet (10/10) - sucks the water out faster than broli's mom
love them in slush (10/10) - no problems
they are good in snow (7/10) - decent grip (as long as u keep the revs low) and good braking
they are 'ok' in FRESH snow (6/10) - i had ONE near mishap, it was REALLY cold for TO -15ish, some snow and going around a bend.. came out ok tho..

overall STILL a wicked bang for the buck ($650 with steelies) especially that the 10/10 conditions happen 90% of the time, but i think i would be looking to upgrade next time around..

EDIT: shit.. this should go into the W300 thread ;)
