I really hope the Raps win tonight, I would hate to see them lose to the lowly Nets, 57-56 right now.
Yeah I hope they win, the Nets are 4-43.
The Raps are leading 106 to 94.

Tell me about it. Awesome how we had NJ fans in our section and we told them to go back to Jersey Shore and I called one of the guys Snookie. They were pretty brave to come to the game lol
I'd say Vanilla Ice only sang one and a quarter songs.

Can't believe we lost to MEM last night. Pretty poor play from Turk imo.

Nice to see some talk about the raps!! Man, I don't know about Turk, he said he's still bothered by family issues. If you ask me, why did he play? Yes, yes if we won we wouldn't be talking like this. I suppose a few mistakes late really cost us. You win some and you lose some.
I think we'll end up in 5th. There's no way we catch Boston, because of the tiebreak, we'd have to be outright ahead of them to get 4th. So as long as we stay ahead of the rest of the pack I will be happy. Bring on the Celts! Upset the most likely- Atlantic division Champs!

I was at the game as well(courtside!), thought we had it won, but "mental errors" on the open 3 by OJ Mayo. Also didn't like the possession right after by the Raps/Huskies. They waited until there was about 6 left on the shot clock before trying to run a play. Ended up with a poor shot. Agree Turk was brutal.

Hey! I was courtside too in Section 119.
I was just bothered by how "casual" turk is on the court. It may be his nature, but he's just way too lax for my liking. I see Jose and Amir coming off the bench playing with passion. Weems, as much as he gambles on D, plays hard along with Belly and Wright. I just feel like Turk ain't playing with passion for the raps. Looking back at our huge run (since Dec), I don't remember turk standing out, with the exception of one game that he has like 26 and 11.
I feel like he doesn't really fit in with the culture that I'm seeing the raps trying to adapt. He didn't help Jose once defending Rudy and watched Rudy burn us play after play while Turk stuck to Conley.
Impressive
02-19-2010, 02:34 PM
I agree, Turk hasn't been the greatest fit yet for the Raptors but I'm willing to reserve my judgements on the signing until our first playoff appearence with him. He's been known to be clutch in the playoffs, unlike Jose & Jarett Jack who haven't played on teams the same calibre as the the teams Hedo has played on. Once playoff time comes around, if either of those 2 tend to slip, expect the ball in Hedo's hands a lot and then we'll be able to judge him accurately. So far if I had to give my rating though I'd say he's a bust and Marion was a better fit, for cheaper.
Personally I still think they're gonna hammer the lonely Nets tonight, even without CB4.

i dont understand why the coach let him still play even hes not making play, He's making those stupid foul instead of clean defense, sooo frustrating watching him last night...and yet there are other players like weems or johnson hustling/contributing. he's leaving up to his reputation in the pizza pizza commercial , just contented being lay back and taking it easy!!!! he better wake up and show what he did in orlando! another "star" player being a white elephant.

With the 2010 NBA Draft less then a month away, i thought I would put in my :.02
With Bosh most likely leaving the Raptors (hopefully in a sign & trade so we can get something in return), I think the Raps should go for a big. With Derrick Favors (Georgia Tech), DeMarcus Cousins (Kentucky), and Greg Monroe (Georgetown) likely gone in the top 10 (Toronto has the 13th pick), my hopes are falling on the following:
Hassan Whiteside
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byBhSZn2NfQ
He would be my top choice, outside the 3 mentioned above. A big man who does not shy away from contact and looks to score inside.
If not him....... there's also Cole Aldrich (Kansas), Ed Davis (North Carolina), Ekpe Udoh (Baylor), and Donatas Motiejunas (Lithuania).

Sad how we got 13th. Nothing's going good for us. Stupid turkey-glue.
As long as we have more defensive players then we'll be ok. Next season should be a season to build an actual team, offensive and defensive. I'm really looking forward to the season after next!

I know Demar DeRozan is only going into his sophmore season with the Raptors, but I don't see him as being the solution at the 2. Sure, as the back- up... but not as a starter. Why not for for a legitimate scoring 2. Either that, or trade the pick for a legitamate starting 5 and move Bargnani to his natural 4 spot.

There are a couple of teams out there with enough cap space to sign 2 of the top 5 free agents to max. contracts (ie. Miami, New Jersey, etc.), but I'm pretty sure no team has enough cap space to sign 3 to max contracts.
As for Turkoglu, that's a shame that his first season went the way it did. The only reason why I saw it was a bust was because his play didn't warranty his salary. If Bosh and Turk both leave..... I wouldn't be surprised if the Raptors go into rebuilding mode again.
Then again, with Colangelo as GM..... anything can happen. This guy can easily pull a rabit out of his a$$ and get stars in the making in return.

Kind of on the fence with Turk. There were too many variables and factors at the beginning of the season (no training camp, handful of new players, nagging injuries) that play a part in him underperforming this year.
Being booed by your home fans is mentally crushing no matter who you are. I don't really blame him so much for kind of giving up because having your own fans boo you is pretty much saying they've given up on him.
Also can't blame him because expecations were skyrocketed from the minute he was signed.
He gelled so well in ORL because they had practically no backup point guard(Rafer Alston?!? LOL) and Turk is comfortable with the ball during crunch time in the 4th qtr. All you hear is "We need to get Turk going early in the game.. etc but in reality he is Mr Clutch 4th qtr. Unless you are a superstar or All-star which in my opinion Turk is NOT, team chemistry is just as important as individual talent. He's not a type you can put all your hope into. He'll always play second fiddle on a team and that supporting role is what makes him so effective. You take out Turk and put in VC like Orl did this year and now you don't have the clutch-ness of Turk and you've got VC's poor FG pct in the eastern conference finals as well as 2 clutch foul shots missed in crunch time in one of the games.
The only thing I can crap on Turkoglu's head for is making his comments public..Very unprofessional. Last time that happened, we got next to nothing for a franchise player. Now he makes it difficult for himself as well as the organization. Teams are too busy freeing up space for LBJ, Bosh and DWade.. Turk is not even gonna be on the radar... It's gonna be an interesting offseason.

I wonder if the Carlesimo is the beginning of the end for Triano.
I wonder if Turkoglu even knows why Raptors fans turned on him. Could it be the fact that he's not living up to expectations when he signed that big contract? Or how about the fact that you partied the same evening you said you were "sick". Hmmm..that's a tough one..
GTFO. I hope the Raptors are able to void his contract and kick him to the streets.

Everybody knew what they were gonna get with Turkoglu, a PLAYOFF performer. He is taking too much blame for the raptors unsuccessful season because other players underachieved also. The Raptors organization made an error in offering that much money to a supporting player who is definitely not a franchise player or even option #2. Let the man flourish where he's truly battle tested, in the playoffs. He had ice water veins when he hit that shot incredible shot last year against CLE in the ECF.. They only reason it was kinda overlooked was because LeBron hit that 3 with only a few ticks left. He's also hit clutch free throws and game winning shots this past season. He's clutch in timely situations, not a guy who will win a game for you night in, night out and give you 20-10..
But I can also see how fans are so pissed cuz of how overpaid he is, but you gotta blame management for that. If my employer offered to grossly overpay me, I'd gladly accept it, no questions asked! :)

I think this will be the first Finals where I really don't care who wins.
Previously I would go for my favorite team, a team with a player who's window is closing on obtaining a ring, or a team playing against another team whom I really hate.
But in this case, I neither hate or like the Lakers or Celtics. As well, there is no one substantial on either time who does not have a ring.
I'm pretty sure that everyone on this roster has a ring, except for Ron Artest........
37 Ron Artest F 6-7 260 11/13/1979 St. John's 10
12 Shannon Brown G 6-4 210 11/29/1985 Michigan State 3
24 Kobe Bryant G 6-6 205 08/23/1978 Lower Merion HS (PA) 13

1 Jordan Farmar G 6-2 180 11/30/1986 UCLA 3
2 Derek Fisher G 6-1 210 08/09/1974 Arkansas-Little Rock 13
16 Pau Gasol F-C 7-0 250 07/06/1980 Barcelona, Spain 8
28 Didier Ilunga-Mbenga C 7-0 255 12/30/1980 Kinshasa, DRC 5

18 Sasha Vujacic G 6-7 205 03/08/1984 Maribor, Slovenia 5
4 Luke Walton F 6-8 235 03/28/1980 Arizona 6
All the big names and veterans on the Celtics already have a ring. I don't consider Nate a big name or experienced veteran.
20 Ray Allen G 6-5 205 07/20/1975 Connecticut 13
42 Tony Allen G 6-4 213 01/11/1982 Oklahoma State 5

I lol'd when Gasol implied, correction, pretty much blatantly called Garnett old and not the same as the Garnett in 08.
Garnett is a gamer, if he's not feelin' it offensively, he always makes up for it defensively..
Can't wait to see what happens in Game 2.
IMO, Kobe has always had a pack of undeserved haters, me included. I've always had a love/hate with this guy. He's clutch, can take over a game, proven he can win without shaq, works on his game in the offseason, plays through injuries..
However, I've realized we'll never have anybody with that caliber in T.O. and that's why I hate. Plus 81 pts in TO AND hitting that buzzer beat against us earlier this year right after Bosh hit that clutch 3 in the dying seconds. We lost a handful of crucial games down the stretch which were decided by only a few pts.

Tim Chisholm - TSN
6/14/2010 9:33:19 PM
"The first possible scenario is the simplest if all New Orleans wants is to shave salaries: Toronto trades three expiring deals (Marco Belinelli, Reggie Evans and Marcus Banks) and takes back Collision and Okafor - who has another four-years and $52-million left on his contract. The Hornets immediately shed $1-million in the transaction, and could arrange buyouts with Evans and Banks that could possibly get them under the tax threshold immediately (depending on what New Orleans does with their draft pick and mid-level exception this summer)."
"If New Orleans balks at the lack of talent that they are receiving in the deal, then the Raptors could remove Belinelli from the deal and stick DeMar DeRozan in, instead. Essentially swapping one borderline starter for two quality starters negates Toronto's loss of last year's lottery pick. In fact, to that end, if the Hornets wanted keep Belinelli in the deal for monetary purposes (he makes less than DeRozan and expires at seasons' end) and instead wanted the Raptors pick in this draft, the Raptors should absolutely do that configuration, too. After all, the Raptors are targeting centres and point guards in this year's draft anyway, and if they can shed a collection of marginal players and a single pick for Okafor (centre) and Collison (point guard), that's a win for Toronto. Especially if they buy a late first-round pick, anyway, to satisfy the draft die-hards that froth at the mouth whenever Colangelo offers up one of Toronto's picks in a larger trade."
"The Hornets, though, may be unmoved by expiring deals, and might instead be compelled to push Collison and Okafor onto a team with enough free cap space to absorb them outright, clearing the salaries off of their burdened books immediately. If that's the case, then the Raptors could look to negotiate a massive Traded Player Exception in a deal for Bosh (instead of a bushel of matching salaries) and simply absorb the salaries that way (along those same lines, the Raptors, Hornets and a cap team could look to orchestrate a complicated three-way deal that nets a similar result in the end)."

The combo would work...Okafor would focus on rebounding/post presence/shot blocking.
With Jack, Calderon, and Turk also on their way out possibly, I guess what I read about them trying to keep Bosh is legit (people prob dont want to give Raptors what they want in a sign/trade).

I have to say I have lost respect for Bosh through the free agency process. First, he said he wanted to be the main star on a winning team. Going to Miami with Wade, he will be the number two guy. In terms of winning, I can't say I like his chances either. Miami has gutted their entire roster to make this free agent run. They have two other players currently under contract, Mario Chalmers, and Beasley. Bosh also said he wanted to play the PF spot with a legit C. How is Miami going to pull that off?
As for the possible trade....Raps are getting nothing of value back, unless Colangelo can pull off a magic trick with a trade exception. Since the Heat have nothing useful for the Raptors, they should tell Bosh, you are welcome to go to Miami and say goodbye to the 30M .

I have no problem with Bosh doing what is best for his personal situation. He fulfilled his contract and has every right to do what he is doing right now. Halladay is as loyal as they get and look what Jays did to his career? He's now past his prime and probably won't be able to carry a team to a championship.

I don't see money being the issue anymore. For Bosh, he's been in Toronto for 7 years and management couldn't supply him with the right players. I have respect for Bosh in the fact that he didn't make any excuses throughout all these years and he owned up as the franchise player. After being in the league for 7 years, wouldn't you want to win a championship too?
I wouldn't be surprised if Lebron, Bosh and Wade talked about playing together after winning the gold in the olympics.

I think Halladay is IN his prime right now! His numbers are a little off this year with a 10-7 record, but he has 7 complete games, and a perfect game. His ERA is the lowest in his career right now. I think he's doing well considering it's his first year in the NL.
And with the speculation that LeBron is going to the Heat..I think he should stay put and stay a Cavalier if he wants to be compared to MJ or even surpass him as the greatest player who ever played the game of basketball. At least MJ worked hard at bringing championships to the team that drafted him.

Denver Nuggets restricted free agent forward Linas Kleiza signed a four-year, $18.8 million offer sheet with the Toronto Raptors on Thursday, his agent, Bill Duffy, told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.
The Nuggets, who made a qualifying offer to Kleiza last month, have seven days to match the Raptors' offer.
The 24-year-old Kleiza played last season in Greece.
The 6-foot-8, 245-pound Kleiza averaged 8.3 points per game and 3.5 rebounds in 301 games in four seasons with the Nuggets from 2005 to 2009. Denver acquired the forward in a trade with Portland in June 2005.

Also, four team deal possibly in the works before Lebron special tonight...one of them involving Raptors where we'd get a hefty trade exception, our first rounder back, possible other picks WITHOUT taking Beasley.

BC has to go. I don't like the direction he is taking the team in. He's made a few bad decisions over the last two years, which has me really questioning his GM capabilities, and his ability to build a contender. Specifically the Bargnani signing and this year Kleiza and Amir Johnson. We are committing too many years and too many dollars on these guys. I predict we wont be back in the playoffs for at least the next 5 years.

"That one man (LeBron) has officially become bigger than the league, holding the fortunes of several franchises, and several players, in his hands.
The “star” system the league created has morphed into an ugly beast.
A long time ago, it became very clear what I appreciated about the emergence of the Jordan Era.
As a Bulls fan since 89, I got to be a part of the collective discovery of Jordan. Jordan wasn’t force fed to me. I wasn’t told to witness Jordan’s greatness, I just did, on my own accord and in the process, I shared in the making of myth, contributing my own bits and pieces to the notion of his legend.
I never bought Nike shoes, never saw Space Jam, didn’t even have a Jordan poster. I just watched basketball, my relationship with Jordan existed in that context alone and it seemed enough for both of us.
The Jordan brand never preceded Jordan the player (at least it was handled so it didn’t seem that way). We all wrote that story, or kind of felt like we had a part in it as FANS OF THE GAME.
LeBron…his story was packaged, prepared ahead of time and offered to us as product first before being allowed to get a sense of the player.
I never thought I’d say this, but basketball is losing me. It hasn’t lost me yet, but…this is getting ridiculous."

I agree with both comments. LeBron was hyped up in highschool, and he lived up to the hype in the NBA. This guy is a complete team player too, he understands the team concept, which is great. However, that being said, it's true that any championships that he wins with Wade and Bosh (if they win), will mean much less due to the talent he is surrounded with. He'll never be in the same "class" as Jordan when it comes to winning championships.

Easier said than done.
Basketball is not just knowing how to bounce the ball and getting some skills, there is a lot more to that.
Discipline, listening skills, trust, confidence, teamwork, so on and so forth.

Would you want to play for an owner who writes letters in Comic Sans?...also, does he sell the team when Lebron wins with his "PERSONAL" guarantee? Very childish and amateur-ish. The fact that he also said Lebron quit during the playoffs...thats like saying ownership quit on Lebron. They had their 7 years. Look at the Lakers going deep into luxury tax, meanwhile Dan and his squad worrying about the cap. Not saying I agree or like Lebrons' decision but this public display by Glibert is embarrassing for the league and the Cavs.

I agree. Management had their chance with the last 7 years to build around LeBron so that he could bring a championship title to Cleveland. Same goes for Bosh and Toronto.

Well...the difference was, Chris Bosh was not a legit #1. He was on Toronto but wouldnt be on an elite team.
I personally thought that if he wasnt going to stay in Cleveland that he would have gone to NY. Money, be the star, ridiculous cap space to build around...they got some decent young pieces+Amare...this decision only hurts his legacy. What makes it extra shocking is even though he gettin that contract money, his brand will take a hit in terms of overall star power which would have gone out of control in terms of size if he went to NY. I think people arent used to people who say they want to win ACTUALLY want to win because Lebron is sacrificing a lot short-term/long-term money wise with this decision.
Smart in the sense that these 3 stars are mimicking the Boston model except at a much younger age which poses for a scary situation as they can be contenders year after year without the same wear and tear on their bodies.

After a four-team deal that would've sent Boris Diaw to Utah collapsed, the Toronto Raptors are trying to acquire the veteran forward, according to the New York Daily News.
Earlier this summer the Raptors and Bobcats nearly struck a deal that would've sent Diaw to Toronto and point guard Jose Calderon back to Charlotte. Michael Jordan reportedly stopped the deal at the last minute.
The Daily News also reports the Raptors have no interest in joining with the Nets in a deal that would help New Jersey acquire Carmelo Anthony because they would prefer that the elite forward not land in their division.
Diaw averaged 11.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.0 assists for the Bobcats last season as the team made its first playoff appearance. Charlotte signed young power forward Tyrus Thomas to an extension this offseason, paving the way for a potential trade.

Big man for hire drops by Raptor practice
Published On Thu Sep 30 2010
There was an extra body at Raptors practice Thursday night.
Erick Dampier, a free-agent centre looking for an NBA job, met with Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo and is expected to make a decision on a contract offer shortly. He sat and watched the second practice of the day with team officials but was not available to the media.
According to NBA sources, the Raptors and Houston Rockets have the best chance to land the 35-year-old Dampier, who was waived this summer by the Charlotte Bobcats after they acquired him from the Dallas Mavericks. Dampier, 6-foot-11 and about 265 pounds, appeared in 55 games with the Mavs last year, averaging six points and 7.3 rebounds.
Because of NBA salary cap and roster restrictions, Dampier is only going to be in line for a veteran minimum salary, which is just over $1.3 million U.S.
The Raptors, who already have the maximum 15 players under contract, would have to create a roster spot to add Dampier, who has appeared in 921 NBA regular season games, averaging 7.8 points and 7.4 rebounds with Indiana, Golden State and Dallas.
Earlier, in a common-sense move, the team picked up the third-year option on DeMar DeRozan’s rookie scale contract. The move had to be made by Oct. 31 and the Raptors wasted no time locking up the 21-year-old swingman, who is entering his second year in the league.
“I’m happy,” said DeRozan. “It shows that I’m really liked here and hopefully I’m here for a while.”
DeRozan averaged 8.6 points and 2.9 rebounds in 77 games in his rookie season.

I read about Dampier. I would actually prefer he does not sign in Toronto. He is too slow to fit the raptors young up tempo energy system. With regards to Derozan, I think that was a given.

+1 Dampier had some mediocre seasons in his prime but...we dont need/want. Lets be happy according to NBA2K11 ratings, we have the lowest rated starting lineup in NBA. YES :) Come on 25 or less wins! which = lottery pick :)

HORNETS ACQUIRE JACK, ANDERSEN AND BANKS FROM RAPTORS
Bayless and Stojakovic sent to Toronto
November 20, 2010
The New Orleans Hornets announced today that they have acquired Jarrett Jack, David Andersen and Marcus Banks from the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Jerryd Bayless and Peja Stojakovic.
"We are excited about the players acquired today and feel that our short-term and long-term goals will benefit from this move," said Hornets General Manager Dell Demps. "Peja has been a valued contributor as a Hornet for years and we wish both Peja and Jerryd all the best in their future and thank them for their recent contributions in helping us get off to a strong start."
Jack (6-3, 197) has appeared in 417 career games (208 starts) for Portland, Indiana and Toronto with averages of 10.6 points, 4.2 assists and 2.7 rebounds. The Georgia Tech product has appeared in 13 games (all starts) for Toronto this season, averaging 10.8 points, 4.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 26.7 minutes of play. Jack was selected in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2005 NBA Draft by the Trail Blazers. He has played in 301 consecutive games over the last four seasons.
Andersen (6-11, 247) has appeared in 11 games for Toronto this season, averaging 5.1 points and 3.1 rebounds in 13.6 minutes of play. Originally a second-round draft choice (37th overall) in the 2002 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks, his draft rights were traded to the Houston Rockets for cash and future considerations on August 12, 2009. The 30-year old played in 63 games for Houston last season before being traded in the offseason to Toronto, averaging 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds. The Australia native played 10 seasons in Europe before coming to the NBA. He played in Spain, Russia and Italy during his professional career, winning the Euroleague Championship in 2001, 2006 and 2008. He also played for Australia in the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games.
Banks (6-2, 205), has appeared in 348 career games (37 starts) for Boston, Minnesota, Phoenix, Miami and Toronto with averages of 5.9 points and 2.1 assists in 16.0 minutes of play. The UNLV product has appeared in three games for the Raptors this season, averaging 2.0 points and 1.0 assists in 7.3 minutes of play. Banks was a first-round draft choice (13th overall) in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies.
Bayless (6-3, 200) was acquired by the Hornets on October 23, 2010 from Portland in exchange for a conditional, future first-round pick. He appeared in 11 games for New Orleans, averaging 4.5 points and 2.5 assists in 13.5 minutes of play. The Arizona product has appeared in 138 career games (11 starts), with averages of 6.6 points and 2.0 assists.
Stojakovic (6-10, 229) was originally acquired by the Hornets during an offseason trade with Indiana on July 12, 2006. He has appeared in six games this season, averaging 7.5 points in 14.8 minutes. His best season with the Hornets came in 2007-08 when he posted averages of 16.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in 35.2 minutes of play over 77 games (all starts). The three-point specialist has appeared in 777 career games (652 starts) for Sacramento, Indiana and New Orleans, with averages of 17.3 points and 4.8 rebounds.

My observations:
- shooting stars was just about as entertaing as it normally is.... But I would like to know how some of these people get chosen. C'mon.... Taj Gibson?!?!?!
- Chris Paul: first ever to miss that first bucket (which is a lay up... Hahaha). I was rooting for Rose and Wall. Oh well....
- I think Ray Allen is the best shooter in the game; congrats James Jones.
- best first round ever in the dunk contest. IMO, Ibaka, McGee, and DeRozan were all better then Griffin last night. Ibaka... Wooooooo..... No one's jumped further than that dude. Whatever... I think that Griffins scores were all way too high.

My observations:
Shooting stars - still doesn't interest me
Skills Competition - Awesome to see Steph Curry win it, I was rooting for him and Westbrook
3 Point Shoot out - I was very disappointed in the field selected this year. That said, I want to see Reggie Miller and Ray Allen head to head in a shooting contest.
Dunk contest - Agree first round was best I have seen in a long time. Ibaka got robbed on the free throw line take off, likely because of his height. Blake Griffin's dunk over the hood of the car at the end, was not impressed by that. However, I had a feeling Blake would win, home court, rising star, NBA marketing dream...

I agree Ibaka's dunk shoulda been a straight 50. Height or not, nobody has taken off successfully from that far that isn't named Jordan. Dwight couldn't even which is why he had to throw the ball into the rim. Also, they changed rules on the fly it seemed. Normal non-Blake Griffin setup to win rules would have said that Mcgee's first dunk shoulda not counted. One of the attempts he successfully dunked the ball but only one hand. According to rules, that should count as an attempt. It was pretty obvious and anyone who watches basketball religiously should know that they wanted no part of DeRozan in the finals. Two years in a row they had it that way. Again, they could care less if he from Compton.
In american broadcasting for some reason they like to do everything possible to not mention the Raptors and give praise unless they have no choice. This is not me being a homer, again if you watched this weekend and are a casual fan you would have seen what most people dont see. I'll just give you one example (I have loads from this weekend alone) before rookie/sophomore game after they announced the players on the teams...CWebb was talking about players from Cali in the game and he goes "Brandon Jennings is from Compton, so this is like a home game to him" Any mention of DeRozan? Forgot he from Compton? lol Anyways, it's just the way it is. DeRozan isnt a huge showtime dunker so he is not a Toronto exception like Vince was where they cant ignore him but yeah that's just the way it is.
In any case, this weekend is Blake Griffin weekend and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he won MVP tonight (prob wont though).

I think the Knicks gave up way too much for Carmelo. While it's wonderful to have two superstars in Amare and Carmelo, neither of them have any interest in playing defense. Though, I guess that fits with Dantoni's system. In any case, even if they get an elite pg(Chris Paul) in the next year or so, I still don't see them as a contender.
The Nets deal for Derron Williams. This deal I think is great for the Nets. Ultimately, Deron Williams combined with Brook Lopez will take them further than Carmelo Anthony and Brook Lopez. I am a big fan of Deron Williams, very good pg, tough, solid defender.

Yes he was part of the reason Jerry Sloan suddenly retired. However, I think he could get along very well with Avery due to the pg connection.

Not so much a matter of age with Davis, issue is the contract.
I don't like the deal for the Cavs. Unless Davis is motivated he is going to revert back to his lazy out of shape self. Taking a guy who grew up in the LA area, signed with the Clippers a team that is coming along nicely. Put him in Cleveland, which is going to be a very bad team for several more years...good luck with that.

Regarding the Clips/ Cavs deal, the Cavs did the deal primarily for the (lottery) draft pick that comes along with Baron Davis. But my concern is the reunion between Davis and head coach Byron Scott. They butted heads in New Orleans, which resulted in Davis being traded after 25 games or so.
For the Clips, Davis wasn't happy there but they still wanted to have a vetera presence on a young team. I think it was a good trade for both teams, mainly becuase they both currently suck and can't do much worse :)

To be honest, if spurs beat Lakers, they are just helping the East take it. Spurs are playing well but they are the Cavs of last year to me...They can win 60 games but lets see em do something playoff time. but to be honest....miami is the team that explodes and do good during the playoffs so im gonna have to say that they also might have a chance this year...
but looking looking at lakers....Kobe is the type of player that if he needs to score....he will score...
and i agree about the spurs...they are doing good during the season but shit in the playoffs
and lets not forget about the Boston....
so my opinion would be...either Lakers VS Boston....or Lakers VS Miami...

Are you kidding me!?!?!?! Not only did Marcin Gortat have a double double, but he was the only player in the game to have a double double!!!!!!!!
On another note, as a testament to just how good Kid Canada is...... only Steve Nash could say he had a bad night when he shoots 2 for 12, but comes out with 7 rebounds and 11 assists. After watching the game last night, I have a whole new respect of how great he is. This guy was one of the oldest guys on the court and literally danced circles around everyone. You hear the cliches all the time, but he really does make passing and distributing the ball look too easy.

IF this was the Leafs...you can say they SUCK cause they were EXPECTED to make the playoffs (which they still can) but the Raptors from the start, they said this is a rebuilding season.

Bosh Vents Frustrations
http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2011/03/09/bosh-vents-frustrations/?ls=iref:nbahpt1
If you haven’t heard, Bosh is a little upset with his role in Miami … we know, the nerve of this guy, complaining about being the third option after LeBron James and Dwyane Wade after signing up last summer to be exactly that. In short, Bosh wants to play like he did in Toronto, when he was the No. 1 option on largely mediocre teams and piled up impressive statistics working his way inside and out as he saw fit.
The only problem is, two other guys get their food first every night — and that’s not going to change anytime soon. And it’s showing, particularly on those nights when Bosh’s counterpart on the opposing team is the No. 1 option (LaMarcus Aldridge roasted him last night, outscoring him 26-7.)
“I’ve got to get back in my comfort zone, I haven’t been in my comfort zone,” Bosh told Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com. “A lot of things are new for me. I just have to be more aggressive in demanding my [the ball] comfort zone, you know I’ll take the fault for that… I’m effective down in the low post area, so that is where I need to start getting the ball. I need to be assertive in demanding it.”
That Bosh decided to pipe up after what was arguably his worst game of the season (he did have that 1-for-18 stinker a couple weeks ago) only serves to enhance the belief that the Heat still have not solved the chemistry issues that were credited for their uneven start to this season.
But if Bosh has any delusions about being something other than the third option on this team, the Heat have something much bigger than chemistry issues to worry about.
You’ve heard the jokes about the Heat’s Big 3 being the “Big 2.5″ or “Two and Half Men,” or whatever the tasteless moniker they are being plagued with that day. But tasteless or not, the reality is the Heat have two superstars that get theirs no matter what. And then there’s Bosh, a star in his own right, but one that has yet to find a comfortable niche as their third.
Bosh is supposed to take all of this up with his teammates and Heat coach Erik Spoelstra. Too bad he didn’t try that first. Because by whining (crying would be too strong a term in this matter) about this publicly before addressing the matter within the confines of the Heat locker room, Bosh is feeding the daily beast that is the Heat hate machine.
W_L89
03-09-2011, 06:37 PM
As funny as it is that bosh is now complaining about not getting touches... I cant help but agree to some degree. I think the current problem with the heat is wade or lebron try going one on one and dont play team ball enough. If bosh can get the ball down low he can either be a more effective player or pass the ball to someone open. I think the heat have been more successful offesnively when the ball goes through chris. Seems like wade and lebron are having a competition every night to see who can cut to the rim or pull up for a J better every night.

Kemba > Kanter! Westbrook had poor decision making as well but he's definitely coming into his own. Kanter and his health problems turn me off. My prediction, he snaps a knee this summer after we draft him and he turns into a white Reggie Evans. Either way we need a PG or C.

agreed, plus the fact that he didn't play this year. He seems like he'll have an early impact but the fact is the raptors have no space, rather trade some one from our current front court to acquire a proven center.

dirk vs. lebron would be the ideal match up to stop dirk, but its just going to cause havoc for every one else on the floor. Dallas bench is far superior to Miamis, as well as the players on dallas play there regulare position not out of place.
I think Tyson Chandler is the X factor in this series, if he controls the paint, the series may be in Dallas favor.

I think u gotta give Oden a chance, he wont be the guy you pick number one if you had to do that draft over agian, but I think he can be a solid piece on a good team a la Tyson Chandler or Marcus Camby. Plus people have given Kwame Brown 2nd and 3rd chances....And Bargnani sucks!

This represents my feelings: http://youtu.be/Hb9Bk2POpmw?t=1m54s

give him time. OKC are still a very young team.
+1, OKC is a very young team and yes, Westbrook did show his immaturity but he also showed his heart. Given him some time, he'll definitely become a name in the NBA if he isn't already.
You'll probably see him on another team. Just sayin...
-1, they came too close with this young team, unless they were to add an integral part to this team at the cost of Westbrook, I think it would be a mistake.
+1 if you have a chance to get Rudy Gay, you gotta go for it....missed him once already (When we picked Bargnani instead)
Gay would most definitely be a nice addition to the Raps...actually come to think of it, anything would actually be a nice addition to the Raps:bang. We definitely should have scooped Gay up instead of Bargnani, now it'll cost us Bargnani and a jug of Gatorade for another chance at him. Bargnani was just a bad pick, weak and complacent. We thought we were getting a 4 or a 5 but instead we have a guy who thinks he's a 3 :flaming, quite shooting and bang on the inside! It'll be interesting to see what BC does as it might just be his last chance to win over the T.O.

Few things...Marion will be guarding Bosh and as mentioned Lebron will be guarding Dirk. Lebron has had success but the difference between Dallas and Chicago/Boston that Miami is not ready for is the 6th best player on Dallas can put up 15-20 pts and Dallas has ZERO issues scoring in crunch time.
Dallas in 6.

SHAQUILLE O'NEAL: A Legendary Career
http://www.nba.com/shaqretires/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpt1
I was just watching the Shaquille O'Neal Retirement Announcement on NBA TV. I expected alot more from the press conference:

Honestly, for an NBA Superstar of his caliber..... I expected a heck of alot more hoopla from around the NBA. This is a guy who changed how the game was played. He's arguably 1 of the top 4 Centers of all- time (along with Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul- Jabbar, and Bill Russell). I'll admit, I was saddened when I watched the news conference. I remember when he came onto the scene at LSU, I remember watching his rookie year with Orlando, his Reebok basketball shoes, his "Big Slam" sized pepsi bottles, his first CD, etc.
All in all, I think he was great for the game and great for the NBA. I'd love to see him in the broadcast booth with Charles Barkley...... hahahahaha.

So the search is on for the next Raptors head coach:
- Dwayne Casey
- Mike Woodsen
- Chuck Person (never been a head coach)
- Lawerence Frank
- Brian Shaw (never been a head coach)
- Jeff Van Gundy
All BC has said thus far is that the next coach will be a seasoned veteran in the coaching ranks, with actual head coaching experience, and will not by PJ Carlesimo (who will stay on as an assistant).
