Evening outings are pretty rare for me. Plus I hear rumours that my work is going to do a Raptors night for their holiday party...
Wow, I'm a little surprised. Considering the amount of basketball and /or Raptors fans on TM3, I'm surprised no one has signed up for the TM3 Daptors GB!?!!
Trying to convince myself I'm able to spend $70 on this lol. But great prices for what's included, no doubt!
Just to confirm, will this be like a group thing where we would all be together, or would we just be getting tickets in that same section but not necessarily seating that's all together?

Seats would all be together as long as tickets are all ordered at the same time.

Yea I think a lot of the past relationships will help ease to a smoother start to his coaching this season. I'm thinking defence is going to be non-existent with this team now though :P

Nah. There's atleast one defensive bigman (Dwight) on that team that really doesn't "need" a defensive system put in place for them.
Oh man, who's watching the raps right now. This thing is going on forever. Triple OT baby!

Unfortunately couldn't come up with the W, but gotta hand it to the raps for a great fight. Just gotta learn to hold their ground the last bits. Tough loss for sure. Now onto Indiana for tomorrow night's game, after all these heavy minutes.

At this point in the season I'd almost prefer that they keep losing and make a play for that #1 pick. The Raptors are stuck in the stage of mediocrity that NBA teams tend to fall into after missing the playoffs for a number of seasons without garnering a top pick in the process. The teams that finish 9th-11th in the East tend to suffer the worst.
I missed last night's game due to homework which was really disappointing because it was the first one I've missed this season and it was probably the most exciting to watch :(

Yea I agree. I've hated how we fall into that awkward spot repeatedly. Okay I get it, you're not good enough to make post-season, but cmon, at least lose enough to get a solid draft pick! haha

Lol oh man, disappointing night for the raps. I was hopeful till the 4th, where as usual, we couldn't hold on. Good to see an unexpected return from Lowry though. Hopefully we can take the bobcats tonight.
Speaking of the bobcats, wow what a turnaround lol. From winning only a total of 7 games last season, theyve already won 5 this season so far.

Taylor, a five-foot-10, 170-pound sophomore from Black River Falls, Wis., made 27 of 71 three-point attempts, was 52 of 108 overall from the field and added seven free throws on 10 attempts in 36 minutes.
“It felt like anything I tossed up was going in,” Taylor told The Associated Press.

C'mon...... he made 27 of 71 from 3 point range, and took 108 shots overall.

It's kind of like looking at Wilt Chamberlain's stats during that season he averaged 50ppg/25rpg...he was a solid 6-7" taller than the next tallest person at the time he played. Still an incredible performance nonetheless, even with 108 FGA.
Well, the Raps lose another close one. This time I definitely blame the refs. WTF!! Throughout the game the refs weren't calling some crucial plays, and I swear that last play Bargs definitely looked like he got hit taking the jumper with 3 seconds left down by one. Oh man; that's a tough loss.

Here's an update to my little rant/frustration. Turns out the refs admit to blowing the call on the last shot that game. Raps could've been 4-8 right now..

I was pleasantly surprised with the play as well. In my opinion, we easily would've won had some of the refs done their job right. I'm really getting tired of the no-calls on the raps this season. Sure, we don't have top notch all-stars that are gonna get those "reputation calls" but c'mon, you can't change the rules of the game depending on which team has possession. Call the game as-is, and do your job regardless of what team or player is in question. I swear the refs have some bet going of who's gonna have the worst record this season and they're just trying to sabotage ours :( lol

11-26-2012, 07:35 PM
You can't fully blame the refs on the Spurs game.
1. Jose can't inbound for shit.
2. There's a reason Bargs was open *cough* 1 of 17 at the time. Why pass to him if he has the cold hand? I wanted to punch my TV after I heard Matt Devlin say "Pass it to Bargnani, he's due".
In a lot of our losses, we've been in these games on a single last possession. We just have to put it in Lowry's hands.

Bargs has been due for 4 years. Yeah I said it.
Yea, don't get me started on Bargs lol. As good of a player he has become now (at times) he's way too inconsistent for my liking. Took him way too long to develop to this stage, and once he's finally decent, can't keep it up on a regular basis.
We do seem to make some bad choices for some of those last possessions when the game is on the line; no doubt. But I'm saying more of the time throughout the game, where the refs just seem to be taking us as a joke, or just not wanting to ref equally. We might be a joke, but a certain level of professionalism is expected out of them, and with their whistle's seeming to have a slight bias as of late for the other teams, it doesn't seem very professional at all.

Rap hold on to win four in a row! First time in two years. Been loving their team play as of late. Calderon has been simply spectacular, and Anderson has been playing well too.

If we can get the Bargs from early last year back, Raps are a better team for it. I love the 4 game win streak, but let's also look at who they have beaten:
Dallas - without Dirk, are a 12 - 13 team, but nobody knows how they have won this many
Houston - 13-12 right now, but only Harden has been good, Lin has been mediocre.
Cleveland - worse record than the raptors
Detroit - same record as the Raptors
Also remember all 4 games have been at home..

Yea, if he plays at that same caliber he definitely lifts this team. But the way he was playing as of late was just hurting our productivity. I'm getting pretty fed-up with his inconsistencies now.
That's true; we haven't beaten any "great" teams. But it's nice to see them finally close some games out, and that too put together a stretch of that behavior. I think there's easily 5-7 games we could have won so far this year, and we'd have a much different record if the Raps had put in that extra little effort to win those games. So it's nice to see them finally win some close ones, and hold on/expand on a lead in the 4th.
Hopefully they can keep up this type of play for the tougher teams to come. And Bargs better be doing a hell of a self-evaluation for himself right now while watching the team thrive without its "best player".

I think tonight's game is gonna be exciting. Both teams are hot right now, on a four-game win streak. I'm hoping we get to see Fields on the court tonight (he's been cleared to play again but hasn't been placed on the court for the past two games) but with the new-found chemistry the second-unit guys got going, he might not make it into rotation just yet. I have no doubt Calderon will continue his spectacular play of late. Should be a great game to watch.

Nets Fire Coach Avery Johnson.
Came as somewhat of a surprise to me, but I guess something had to be changed with their record as of late. I personally really like this team, and think they could be at a much better standing right now than they actually are. The assistant coach will take over for now, but there's already some rumors of the Nets possibly reaching out to Phil Jackson.
Thoughts?

A little surprising, but not shocking. Particularly given he was in the last year of his contract, and Deron Williams had been critical recently.
Problem for the nets is they have so much salary committed and only a mediocre roster.
Easier to replace the coach than the players.

Hopefully the Raps will start to get on the proper end of the highlight reels lol. Specially with T. Ross playing the way he is. Man, this kid has hops! In the past couple weeks he's had some serious jams. Really hope we keep him around. I think an off-season of physical training will allow him to bulk up a little and gain a lot of strength, and once that physical progress is there, he's really going to be a force to be reckoned with. Solid defender too; which is hard to find in a lot of the young guys these days.

Going online now: ESPN sources say Grizzlies and Raps have deal in place to swap Rudy Gay and Hamed Haddadi for Ed Davis and Jose Calderon
So it appears we have a new franchise player now!
sucks to lose Ed Davis though he will be good, and Calderon deserves to play for a contendor. Key here is Lowry and Gay appearently are very close so that could raise both of their level of play.

Agh...not sure how I feel about this. Calderon is a solid player we're letting go off. Not sure if Lowry has that same maturity level to lead our team at the point. Gay is definitely a great player though, and with our team the way it currently is, he's going to have the freedom to make as much of an impact as he wishes.

That's what they said when they traded for TJ Ford (as he was close to Bosh), and we know how that turned out.
I like Rudy Gay, but if possible I would have rather traded Kyle Lowry.

Agreed. Rudy gay is a solid player, but still a little over-rated and over-priced in my opinion. Calderon has served us well, and in my eyes was our real franchise player. Not sure if Lowry will be able to bring that same consistency and smart play on a nightly basis to support the rebuilding of this team. Would have liked to have kept Calderon. To be honest I wouldn't have minded trading Bargs at all. Problem is, now not many teams want him that much anymore lol. Should've traded him when he was "doing well"..

Its all true calderon has been great for us this season and in general as a leader BUT he is expiring this year and will look to get paid. Now would the raps extend a 30-31 yr old PG that is on the decline for another 3-4 years most likely not, hence trading him now bring value back to the team rather than losing him for nothing over the summer. We are no longer in rebuild mode after this trade its win now mode. Whether Gay justifies his MAX contract this is another question...

Lowry has a much better contract than Calderon. I think as Casey works on Lowry and develops him into a pass first guard, rather than shoot first guard he will work out well.
i don't understand where Derozan fits on the team now , with Ross coming along fast and now acquiring Gay.

This is key lol. People shouldn't get all worked up and excited and start to expect the Raps to dramatically turn this season around just yet. But definitely a good sign from what they displayed tonight. For the limited time Gay had to acquaint himself with our team, I think he meshed with most of the guys pretty well.
Raps are 1-0 under the Gay era.

Also note clippers were missing Chris Paul and Matt Barnes.
So the best point guard in the game , and a very good defender both were out for the clippers.
Doubt the raps would have won had those two played.

Sorry to say but after Vince Carter left his mark in the slam dunk competition, It has lost its pizazzz... I was utterly disappointed with this years.... I expected it to be more creative than this...
When a player dunks and you see the reaction of NBA stars looking as if they are forced to watch this, you know theres something wrong...
Watch the 2000 slam dunk competition.... When Vince dunks literally all the players sit on the side lines and watch him dunk.....
And if its that easy to get a 50 give me the ball!

I actually thought this dunk contest was somewhat decent... T Ross and put up on a show tonight like his first dunk the most... congrats to Ross reppin T.dot
The dunk contests have definitely been relatively disappointing to earlier years with VC. Specially in the past two to three years, I feel like it's become more about the presentation/showmanship than the actual dunk; which is disappointing. I've essentially given up on having legitimate dunks like in early 2000, and in comparison to the past couple years, this one was at least a bit better.
went to the game vs hornets and he brought something back to the raptor's game that wasn't there for a while.

Thoughts on how long their win streak will last? They are currently at 23 games; 10 more to reach the NBA all-time best record. I'm confident in them winning against their next four opponents at least. This could be epic!
Bumping this thread for the new season coming up.
Two big things happening for the Raps..
1. Toronto will be hosting the 2016 All Star Game - http://www.cp24.com/sports/toronto-raptors-news/toronto-to-host-nba-all-star-game-in-2016-reports-1.1476135
2. Raptors are teaming up with Drake as part of their whole re-branding ordeal - http://www.thestar.com/sports/raptors/2013/09/29/raptors_drake_team_up_for_rebranding_kelly.html
One thing that stood out from the second article: "After 18 years, all they have is one playoff series win and Vinsanity to draw from. That’s it." Cruel but true :( lol Who thinks we're going to be more successful this year? What do you guys think of the roster for this year? I have a somewhat good (or at least better) feeling about this season!

2. We don't need to "re-brand". We need to not suck.

Definitely going to be a great game to watch. Rose is back, faster and stronger! He's added 5" to his vertical and he's looking that much more explosive with that first step. All that being said, I think the big 3's drive for the three-peat will be too much for the Bulls.

I saw this too. I thought they were giving derozan way too many touches, and he wasn't finishing. A lot were forced shots. He had a horrible game
I noticed it since last season. He's definitely not maturing his game as fast as I, or many others, would've liked/expected. He bulked up and significantly improved his shot over his first off-season with us, but since then, pretty much flat in terms of progression.

Great night of ball last night with DRose's last second game winner and the clinic that CP3 put on!
Despite not playing all that well the whole game, the Raps have been playing better in the 4th and due to Derozan being on fire, are totally back in the game. Definitely some impressive offensive plays by Derozan. Still don't understand why Gay has been totally off this game though. Raps within 6!
EDIT: well, two turnovers and a bad play at the end of the fourth leads to a loss. Once again, got it close, but let the game get away. #TypicalRaptors

YEA!!! GO RAPTORS! We played well but too many turnovers and got killed on the boards.
Game 3 leh'gooooooo
Any predictions?
If we can avoid being all jittery in Brooklyn and not let the crowd be an affect on us, we should be okay. Well, that and closing the bakery (ie not so many turnovers)

Curious to see the retaliation that Crooklyn has planned for our Game 1 "Eff the Nets!" Pep rally
LOL "Lowry's got great swagger as he walks back to the free-throw line" gotta love Matty D
Great first quarter. DeRozan came out strong. Still a few more T/O's than we'd like though.

I was kinda cursing the referees for every bad call. Man, it's just, everytime I watch a game, there's always a bad call with these pricks. Can't really contest them because then you get a technical. Too much authority...

All those Phantom calls, especially on Jonas.
At the end, Decrook Williams bumps into the Vasquez and then HE gets to go to the line. Plus they T up Vasquez...

And Jonas doesn't get the calls lol. Man that T at the end. It wasn't necessary. Not even worth a T.

Wow, what a game.
First quarter was amazing.
Second quarter was getting worrisome.
Third quarter was depressing.
Fourth quarter was a nail biter.
Great win!

Going into the 4th, there were 29 fouls called against the Raptors and only 19 on the Nets :S

We stayed at 29 fouls, Nets ended with 25.
On another note, crazy finish to the Rockets/Blazers game.

yesterday's game was crazy... raptors really went through some growing pains to pull that win off on the road in the playoffs. We played some amazing textbook defense in the forth quarter to hold the nets to something like 3 field goals made and to seal the game!
Hopefully T Ross actually shows up and JV doesn't get into early foul trouble. Game 5 should be crazy inside and outside the ACC!

This. I can't wait. The ACC and it's surroundings are gonna be wildddddd. Wish I could be there.
Hopefully we can secure the W in game 5 on homecourt

Our team isn't even playing in the city, yet thousands of people will gather DT at the square.... I don't see any other city doing this for their team.
we need to win game 5.... very CRUCIAL game of the series. We can't afford to go back to Brooklyn down 3-2.

Yea it's pretty insane. Mad love for the Raps. Not only that, but there's always a good amount of fans in other cities as well.
I think we're in a good position to win game 5. Playing at home again should help us, and Lowry and Demar are both on somewhat of a roll (granted Demar was kind of out of it second half of game 4, but was still locked in defensively). Just gotta hope the refs don't get us again.

Ross has been a non-factor in this series, raps may get by this round against the nets without him, but if they want a remote chance of competing with Miami, Ross has to stfu (step the f* up) lol

While it would be nice if Ross could perform on offense, he's more of our key defender. We have lots of options on offense through Lowry, DD, Pat^2 but defense should be and always will be the biggest part of our game. But imagine if he did rain 3's and ring up his points; this Round 1 series would never have been this close. The kid is developing so we can't be so hard on him. Even DD had pretty abysmal seasons in his rookie/sophomore year.

yea, Ross should stick to focusing on defense.. .and let the offense come to him. The key to this game would be to get JC and Amir going in the post...and work the inside out game early. Also DD and Kyle has to be in attack mode right away.

It was way too close, glad they won though.
I can't see how a Toronto team could enter the final minutes of a game with a huge lead and could possibly blow it by the end. Just doesn't seem possible or probable. Glad that's never happened before.

It must have something to do with the city, considering all teams(raps, leafs, tfc, jays) end up managing to pull this feat off somehow..and not just on one occassion
Masai, give this guy the contract, money, keys to the city, and whatever else he wants. Lowry is the man!

LOWRY FOR MAYOR!!!!! Rob Ford tried to steal the spotlight on the news this morning lol!
One thing I love about Lowry is how humbling he is. One of the more humble guys in the NBA, that's for sure.
Here's a cool video after game 4 that shows that humbleness, with a nice funny little bonus at the end.

Aghhhhh not the kinda play I wanted to see. Defense is non-existent at times for the Raps, and for the earlier part of the first half at least, getting into the paint didn't even seem like an option on their offensive menu. Which is unacceptable. Nets have come out in full control. Hope we get it together over halftime. These guys have lost all the things that were making them successful the past couple games.
