Nearly 4 hours!!

Too many idiots on the road without winter tires. If you can't even get up a hill in the snow, stay the hell off the roads!!!

Anyone who says that you don't need winter tires in Toronto should be shot.

I went to pick up my brother from school and it usually takes about 10-15mins but today it took me 1 hour and 30mins.

Route: 14th & Birchmount to Markham & Kingston Rd
Usual PM Travel Time: 30 minutes
Today: 1 hour 30 minutes (left at 6:15pm

Sidenote - I was going to leave at 5:15pm, however when I pulled out, it was all red tailights going south on Birchmount on the hill after 14th - figured I'd wait it out just a bit more.

Highlights:
- 'Assisting' the Town of Markham in plowing 14th Ave. east of Kennedy up to Brimley; 'Assisting' the City Of Toronto in plowing Brimley down to Eglinton.
- getting stuck behind a car doing 5km/h - I acknowledge that the road conditions warrant less than speed limit, but 5km/h is nuts (especially on flat road)
- Somehow managing every time in this kind of weather to get stuck behind the one driver that apparently doesn't realize that the two sets of ruts in the snow mean two lanes of traffic and that the 'single' ruts are not 'safety' ruts should they decide to stop driving in the middle of the road - chose either the left set or right set of ruts (you know if you say that quickly, it sounds like something else :O )
- Realizing that I will have to get snow tires next year as I'll be living in Ajax and don't intend to end up in a ditch next winter along Tauton somewhere.

I think that we get little enough snow in Toronto that people can get away with not getting snow tires.

I say that on the condition though that they understand that when it actually does snow, they are stranded. It is not a time to go out and give it the ol' college try and hope for the best. You leave your car where it is and take public transit or whatever else you need to do to get your stupid ass wherever it needs to be without trying to drive in the snow on your non-winter tires.

For me? Half an hour. I got home before all the precipitation began.

But one of my boys who works at 401&427 left work at 2:30. Got home (Brampton) at 8 something. Usually takes half an hour on a good day.

Took him an hour and a half to get from 401&427 to get to Dixie and Matheson. Usually that little stretch of road takes no more than 5 mins.

But it doesn't matter how long it took you - you don't drive a Mazda3 (or did you finally get around to getting one?).

I totally agree... man I'm glad I got winter tires... Makes doing donuts that much more fun. And I won't kill myself going down the street.

Awww crap... I was hoping to have some :pop. HA HA HA!!!!

My story..... I got a ride home from a co-worker, we left the office at 5:45, I got to DVP and York Mills at around 8:10. I then had to go out again for the AA meet and to get some gas.

Hmm - based on th fact it sounds like your boy drives and at that on a 400 series highway - that would put him at around 18 I figure - which means based on your posted age - you were 3... ewwwww

BTW - JMAK dodges the thrown ice and blows an air biscuit in your general direction - you pass out

Took me just over 2.5 hours to get home last night and that was leaving work early! The trip usually takes me 25-30 minutes.

Management sent everybody home yesterday at around lunch, but I stupidly stayed until 5:30 since I only live 5 minutes from work. The drive home only took about 10 minutes, but it took me another 10 minutes just to make it out of the parking lot at work.

I had dinner at Swiss Chalet and waited a bit for the Traffic to die down. My travel time is not too bad.

From Bloor to Steeles (around 8:30pm) approximately 45 mins.

It's not so much that Toronto exaggerates it. It's just that because we only get a couple big snow storms a year, idiots don't bother to prepare for them and figure they can just act like nothing has happened and all will be well.

Then we end up with countless idiots on the roads like a massive artery clogging city cholesteral problem just holding everyone up that's capable of driving through it.

People are welcome to decide against getting winter tires, but they SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROADS when there's snow on them.

I heard a great suggestion on the radio last night. There should be a $1000 fine for anyone driving in Ontario on summer tires between December and April.

The club does have a lot less traffic (esp this week as everyone seems to be on holiday's) but the club also has a lot less members.

You have the exact attitude most people in Ottawa have, which is why car forums/clubs in general don't do very good in the Ottawa area.

What? Contemporary Customs? Midnight Runs? Redliners?
3 extremely successful car forums

As for car clubs, Ottawa Honda Club? Midnight Garage? Team SIN?

Let's not get it twisted...

Let's see...Rice, rice and a little more rice. Midnight runs seem like a good bunch of guys, but why would anyone hang out there unless they have a comparable car? I've been to a few AutoX events with them and seen them at M&M but the main members drive Porsche's, tuned Vette's etc.

There are few clubs such as the Subi one that cut most of the BS out and just enjoy meets etc, but the good majority of the other clubs are filled with young ricers. If you're looking for a forum like Redliners, then it's a good idea for you to stay off the Ottawa board as we don't put up with all that crap.

Okay, so I didnt get to drive in all that, but...

I did have tickets to see Larry the Cable Guy last night. (Late Christmas gift from the Mrs) and we decided not to go.

Way off topic, but anyone know if Ticketmaster will refund anything due to climate?

Drive in today was much better than I expected.
