With SPL comps, A LOT of time goes into the design of the box. You can get insane amount of SPL from 4 seven inch subs if you design the right box. More than 2 twelves... it's not my cup of tea either, but a lot of work normally goes into them.

Don't get me wrong. None of this is in any way a shot at you or Mazdaspeed or anyone else. I know that plenty of people who've built their systems for quality enter these things just for fun.

I just don't get the point of the competitions themselves.

On the flip side, I have no idea how you'd quantitatively measure the quality of a system. :)
