Does Ford really think calling a piece of crap a Tauras will help sell it better? Sometimes I really hate that Mazda is associated with FoMoCo.

wth is up with the analog clock and the tape deck?? :loco

funny thing is I did a research study with them about a month ago.. I told them that the car wasn't as sleek like the mazda3 and that it was too box shaped.. apparently, they don't car cuz the car was already designed..

I'll give them one thing.. they made that display device in the dash with microsoft so that it would sync up with ur cell phone (hands free blue tooth), ipod (so they claim), zune, and I few other devices I can't think of right now.. that part was really cool.. everything else kinda sucked..

Ya this was at the car show in toronto. I started laughing (not loud) when I noticed it was back. Someone at the ford booth gave me a nasty glare.

the same guy that designed the 96-05 VW Passat designed the 500/Taurus ...let's just say he only knows one design :)

lol renaming the Ford 300 to the Ford Taurus is not going to boost sales. Good try Ford .

I actually think this is a GOOD move by Ford. Taurus is already an established brand. Look at how the Daewoo's sales were boosted simply by GM buying them and re-badging them Chevrolets and Pontiacs. And Taurus was one of the best selling cars for years. Remember, this car isn't aimed at the younger market. It's for older people with kids and who know nothing about cars.

Sure we all think they suck. But wait and see - they will sell (IMO.

it'll also be a fleet sales queen. :)

the article had said that the old taurus outsold the 500 2:1 ....most of those sales being fleet.

name counts for a lot for the domestics...which makes you wonder why Ford likes to **** with name brands ....like wanting to replace the Mustang with the Probe :P

It has similarity with Fusion, just bigger. Still not going to attract people's attention.

The Taurus was a revolutionary car when it was introduced in 1986. I respect that.

ya i remember when my mom picked up her 89 taurus wagon, it was nice for the first 3 years and then it just slowly started going downhill from then. but we still had the car for 11 years, why i don't know but we did.

the fuel injectors would always clog up and you'd be driving on the highway and the engine would just quit on you.

One of the only SMART moves Ford made recently. The Tuarus was not my cup of tea, nor anyone on this forums probably. Fact of the matter is it SOLD. and it sold huge for them. One of the best selling cars of all time if memory serves right. My buddy works at Ford, and said a ton of people wanted new Tauruses, but wouldnt touch the Five Hundred, due to the name... thinking it wasnt as solid. Go figure.

I some-what feel the same way but keep in mind FoMoCo is well respected in Europe so they're not all that bad.

Ford and the rest of the N. American companies need to stop dwelling on their past and look to the future. Come out with something new, not reinvent the old!

the taurus was a very profitable and succcessful car for ford cause it was the number one fleet car, like EVERRRR. lol

they rebaged one of the current cars to bring back the taurus name, since lossing it would cost them. i think they took out the 500 for the taurus... no?

I think the only reason that Ford will have this in their lineup is to fill rental company parking lots.

Its just the 500!!! They just got the name back, and made it look cloer to the fusion family wise. Those grills are the new brand image for ford. Fugly no?

As people have said, it's just a re-badged Five Hundred. I'm pretty sure the reason the Taurus name was dropped was because of the last CEO. He wanted all Ford models to start with the letter "F", ie. Windstar --> Freestar, Taurus -> Five Hundred then all the new cars, Freestyle, Fusion etc. I guess they realized the huge mistake behind this. The name Taurus is well known, and it was stupid to try to change the name and try to build the reputation of the new name. Seems easier for Ford to just bring back the Taurus name, which is a good move.

Yup, they had there "F-phase" *chuckle* but I think going back to Taurus is a good idea. Even if the car is junk.

If they really wanted to bring back the Taurus they should have taken the European Ford Mondeo and re-badged it. That is a really nice looking car!
