raycroft hasn't earned his name as the razor quite yet, but he sure did earn his keep in last night's game!!

Raycroft did not play well IMO until the final four minutes of the game. He had let in two goals on the first eight shots! Even during the last four minutes the post made the most spectacular save. I like the guy, but to say that he earned his keep last night is not accurate. He played okay, that's it.

Sundin's goal was amazing, he simply out-muscled everyone around him.

Prof - Don't forget the first goal was deflected also. I wouldn't blame him for that at all. The second one was scored by one of the best forwards in the game streaking in all alone, while we were shorthanded, due to shitty defencive play.

I wouldnt say he stole the game, but he played well enough to walk away with the win for sure.

Agreed, the first goal was questionable due to the deflection, but it was hardly a stellar game for Raycroft....it was just okay. He's had far better games than last nights IMO. Like I said, he wasn't bad, he just wasn't amazing.

Ferguson needs to go even if they do make the playoffs. He has made some decisions that wil affect the team for 3+ years and it definitely wasn't in the best interest of the team. My behaviour was a response to the way I was treated on the way to the game, during the warm up, and during the first period by the Sabres fans. The guys behind my kept trash talking like mad, so whenever the leafs scored I stood up turned around and cheered right in their faces lol. It was all in good fun, but seriously, out in the streets some of their fans take it a bit too far. IMO

It's like they've proven that they can't win when it counts, so even if they win tomorrow, they don't seem capable of any sort of miracle run to the cup.

I cant remember how many leafs games i watched where they turned over a 2 or 3 goal lead.
They should have beat the islander the last time they played them , but decided to go easy becuase they know montreal lost to the rangers. The leafs should have never banked on the islanders loosing to philly or jersey.

The Leafs have always relied on their goalie...Potvin, Joseph, Belfour...'nough said. They need a high end goalie to stay in the mix of things. Raycroft is mediocre unfortunately. It's easy to point fingers after the fact but the fact that we didn't make the playoffs go way back when the team threw away too many games. It's ashame that the Leafs won't be playing in the post-season and I for one had hoped they would have made it...but we all knew it would come down to this.

Don't hang this on Raycroft, he did exactly what is was suppose to this season he finished 9th in goalie wins Maurice over played him and he was tired down the strectch. This teams was suppose to sneak into the playoff and they missed by a point. The fact the leafs lost so many man games due to injury is a big part of the reason they didn't make the playoffs. The fact they had the 27th ranked penalty kill didn't help either(Peca would have helped). It came down to the skills competition (shoot out) the leafs suck at the shoot out, they left too many points out there.

That game against the habs was just too much pressure for raycroft. Even though the leafs won , it was one of the sloppiest wins I have ever witnessed (one fluke goal after another). Nither Montreal or Leafs deserve the playoffs , and in my opinion , the better team got it anyways.

I agree whole heartedly with the comments about them not blocking shots. I understand this mentality of avoiding injury for the first 2/3rds of the season, but if you haven't secured a playoff spot in the last 3rd or quarter, then you should be on the ice blocking shots as if you were already in the playoffs.

Mad props to Ryan Smyth for showing how it's done. Ya really gotta have full respect for that display yesterday!
