How's the ride? Bumpy?

Is the drop even, and not raked like the Progress drop?

Drop is even and it depends how you set the shocks. If you keep it at soft at all times then you'll live with it, but of course its going to be stiffer then stock. But if you adjust it to stiff a bit then its going to be stiff.

Drop is even front to back? How low is it? I'm considering getting that, (yellows and pro-kit) instead of coilovers.

Furthermore, I'm having a swollen-ball hard time trying to find some pics of the pro-kit installed.

Where are you located? Maybe we can meet up and you can see my setup in person and i'll take you for a ride as well.

Anyone else is interested can come also.

Pearlyearly, I need more information..

1) When driving on the highway, it is floaty, and somewhat un-controlled? I have that feeling with Progress & stock struts. It is somewhat bouncy too when hitting bumps. How does it feel with the Yellows?

Kevin@nextmod

Stiff as fark!
Not floating like a boat. Its really firm on the city and highway driving. Even when trucks drive by my car fast my car hardly moves from side to side.

No bumpsteer, right?

Becks on the Ottawa board is also using the Prokit (eibach). a few of them are. Maybe one of them can take you for a spin.

Thanks, Josh. I am going to stay with the Progress. It's gonna be way too expensive to get both Pro-Kit and Yellows.

can anyone compare the stock shocks with the koni sports when lowered with exact same springs?? do they feel they same or the konis feel stiffer on the lightest setting?

MidnightSpeed

Pearly mentioned above that it was definately a lot stiffer then OEM, even with stock settings.

Yellows will be obviously stiffer even at their softest (from factory) setting.

right now i have tien h-techs on stock shocks, and when i go over minor bumps, it feels like im hitting rock bottom, not much cushion at all, is that how the yellows feel?

Kevin@nextmod
03-26-2007, 09:22 AM
It'll be stiffer then that. H-techs are the softest springs you can buy for your 3 and if you think thats stiff then i guess you'll want to stay away from yellows.

thanks for the heads up....how are yellows on rough surfaces? eg. bridges... feel the road?

Well, I'll take Pearlys word for the shocks and settings and see how they feel this evening. I'll get back with some results.

I swapped out my Tein H-techs and stock shocks for the Prokits and the Koni Yellows.
For the front and rear shocks I asked Jim (from Street Performance) to set it set to +25% stiffer from the softest setting.

After 30 minutes of driving around spiritly, all I can say is that I love it. The car’s no longer bouncy and the suspension is tight on the corners. You can definitely feel the imperfections of the roads; and with your back pushed back in to your chair you can definitely distinguish the hills and valleys of bumps independently for each corner of your car.

The ride quality is very comfortable from my previous H-tech+stock shock setup, and it’s not as harsh as I assumed after reading pearly’s posts. However, inside the cabin, I am noticing a lot more rattling (which was fixed by turning up the music).

(I also posted some pics in the members section if anyone wants to see the difference in wheel gap from h-techs to pro-kits)

This is the set-up I am going to use. I understand the front shocks can be adjusted easilly but not the rear. Do you have yours at mild, medium or full?

I'm looking to have this as a first step handling upgrade before I install the front and rear sway bars. I installed a strut bar but not noticable gains.

From the stiffest setting, if I remember correctly I think I had it originally at 1 full turn softer for both front and back, then I got it adjusted to 1/2 a turn instead and I love it.

Thanks. I figured the 50% setting would be ideal but good to hear from someone with experience. Did you need to purchase the alighnment kit for this kind of set-up? I know with the sportline you do because it is a great drop but the pro kit is mild.

drunknfoo, are you at any of the meets much? I'd love to take a spin in your car sometime if that's cool...i'd like to see how the yellows are...

DrunknFoo

I got Gilmans auto to do my alignment for me about 2 weeks or so after the install.

As for going to the meets, my work schedule is messed up and by the time I arrive to any meet, everyone's usually gone. I've been to 1 so far, but work's preventing me from attending more. Nevertheless you won't regret the koni's if you go with em

bummer....i'd really like to take a ride in someone's car with the prokit/yellows first....

i was initially set on FSDs, but after some recent reviews with more mileage from a member on the M3F, they aren't looking so good. However, i'm worried that the yellows are going to be too much to deal with on the roads....i don't track, so i'll never quite take advantage of its prowness. And as we all know, the roads in the GTA are crap and this is my daily driver, so its got to be remotely comfortable.

Awww come on. You KNOW you want to take those on/off ramps and pass sideways streetbikes like they're standing still. :P
I've already got the pro kit. I'l be going Koni Yellows over the winter!

how much would a set of Yellow's go for?

and would someone be able to tell wat the difference in shocks are?
(ie, single, double, and four way adjustable)

and wat would be a better idea? coilovers or new shocks/struts??

EvilDeadFan
09-10-2007, 09:12 PM
Coilovers are extremely adjustable. Lowering springs have one height. Most shocks have one setting. Koni yellow have a knob you can set for riding comfort or sportiness.

Coilovers you can set height, rebound, dampening and much more.

dentinger
09-10-2007, 10:28 PM
ya, i know that.

so would it be better to spend like, $700 on Koni's or $1000 on Coilovers??
i know the ride would be alot stiffer with coilovers, but then again, it will replace the stock shocks as well (right?)

rcd001

Considering the price of Koni Yellows and the prokit with the alignment kit, you are running at around $1200 plus install. How much more are coilovers as they seem to be superior for performance and adjustability.

How much better are they actually? I want to take my car on the track, so comfort is not a major issue. I have a 2nd car for that.
