HELLO guys I'll be getting mazda 3 soon enough... just waiting for my license. I'm kinda confused though of what I should get...is the GT the best deal out of all the trims? and I have about $2000 to spend on upgrades if i choose to go to the cheaper trim should I just get the cheaper trim and buy the upgrades myself?

Welcome to the forum pandastew. I'd go for the gt. Looks a bit nicer, has more features :)

Should really sit/drive each before you decide.

Should really sit/drive each before you decide.

Test drive the gx/gs (2.0) first, then the gt (2.3) next and you'll be going home with a gt. welcome btw!

Are you getting a hatch or sedan? The dealer let you have up to 2000 in upgrades as part of the haggling? that's pretty nice.

I strongly recommend going with GT model, that extra 2000 will be well spent. If you still have some money left, put a spoiler on if you're getting a sedan.

I would get GT as it has more power but if you don't need all the bell and whistles, get the cheaper one
