So Russell is back in TO.. i tried getting the amex front of the line and then another 'pre-sale' but i could not get 2 side by side.. there was only ONE price for the seats .. $52.50 plus ridiculous ticketmaster charge of ~10 and a convenience charge.. whatever.. but WTF?!?!?

this ****er is FROM ontario (unless he's got a 416 ph# and likes to get roaming charges) and he's selling them for $300USD but claims face value is $299.99 each!!!

Ontario residents: Ontario province law limits the resale ticket price for this event location, so your maximum bid cannot exceed $599.98

yes, they are good seats.. but the face value is NOWHERE near that.. or is it?? it's not a concert where the live-ness/closeness makes an impact on the performance.. isn't this considered SCALPING? if not apologies for my outburst... but i think i'll just download his show.. re-****ing-diculous..

When I was scooping out the pre-order list, I know some of the front stage seats were $120-150CDN. That ebay auction is just ridiculous and should be reported. I got 7 tickets, section 321 :rant but at least I'm going :bana . Rusell Peter's is halarious.

I have the same situation with Chris Cornell tickets. Face Value is $45 per ticket, plus about $15 in fee's. In this auction http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130091559376&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=003
guy is saying face value is $300.

I'm pretty sure he can only sell them for face value and not a penny more. Where most sellers get you is they charge you an arm and a leg for shipping. That's probably the only way around it. That auction is just ridiculous.

RP is hilarious that's for sure!

It's not legal - but it's also not enforced a lot. Just like scalpers outside the ACC.

He's got some new material, I've seen a clip of it. I'm sure he's got some new stuff kicking around for his home crowd. I think what made him famous was that night, not his act. He was on, and the crowd made it to.

apparently he's been visiting his motherland, not england ;) india!! and he's been picking up a shit load of material there.. oh well.. saw him live in a small venue in montreal.. but i have a feeling it'll lose its appeal at such a huge place as ACC.. oh well..

I was all set to buy tickets but after I saw the TicketMaster service charges I changed my mind.
I want to know how TicketMaster s/c are legal or at least how they justify them.

Type: All Tickets
Ticket Price: CA $52.50
Building Facility Charge: $1.75
Convenience Charge: $9.25

$9.25 'Convenience Charge' per ticket! WTF

Then they charge you an extra $2.50 if you want to print them out on your own printer! :flaming

Obviously the seller has found a loop hole and exploiting it..

No Problem... buy the tickets, pay with paypal and when they arrive complain to paypal that they were not as described.. They are infact described as $300 tickets? but the ticket says ~$55...

Busted.

are there scalping rules outside of ontario? what laws are there to our advantage? i mean clearly the seller is from ontario.. and scalping is illegal here.. but what can we do?

Ticket Speculation Act of Ontario.

http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/DBLaws/Statutes/English/90t07_e.htm

Definition
1. In this Act,
“ticket” means a card, pass or other document upon presentation of which the holder is entitled to admission to any theatre, opera house, public hall, show, game, grandstand, race meeting, exhibition or amusement of any kind. R.S.O. 1990, c. T.7, s. 1.
Offences:
2. Every person who,
selling
(a) being the holder of a ticket, sells or disposes of the ticket at a higher price than that at which it was first issued, or endeavours or offers so to do; or
purchasing as a speculation or at a higher price than advertised
(b) purchases or attempts to purchase tickets with the intention of reselling them at a profit, or purchases or offers to purchase tickets at a higher price than that at which they are advertised or announced to be for sale by the owner or proprietor of any place mentioned in section 1,
is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine of not more than $5,000. R.S.O. 1990, c. T.7, s. 2.
Exception as to sale on commission at hotel stands and stores
3. This Act does not apply to the sale of tickets by the proprietor of a shop or hotel stand or a servant of the proprietor when such proprietor is an agent of a theatre, opera house, public hall, or grandstand, or of the owner or promoter of a show, game, race meeting, exhibition, or amusement of any kind for the sale of tickets, and where the commission charged upon the sale of each ticket does not exceed the maximum prescribed in the Schedule to this Act. R.S.O. 1990, c. T.7, s. 3.

right.. so unless he's the promoter, he should be selling at face value MAX!!! or +50c commission :chuckle

and at the same time BOTH the seller and buyer are ****ed by that eh? nice!

All of Paypals rules and regs are generated with the 'buyer' in mind not the seller.

For example it is up to the seller to PROVE that an item was recieved by the buyer.. If they cannot prove with a signature that the item was recieved and the buyer claims that it wasn't.... a refund is automatically given to the buyer from the sellers paypal account.

There's another hidden fee: "Order Processing Fee" which was $4.25 (luckily this is a flat fee and is not multiplied by the number of tix you get).

There's already a thread on TicketMaster's ridiculous service charges. Vent your anger there.
