So, lately I am hearing my brakes on the front passenger ever so slightly. When I look at the outer pads they are meaty but haven't had a chance to lift the car and check the inner. It only just became a little noticeable with the radio off etc. It almost sounds like when your pads are worn down but it doesn't make sense at 54k and the outer brakes having so much meat. I have been downshifting as early as possible to decrease my braking distance and only tapping the brakes basically, and don't hear it when I do so.

what seems more plausible...
1) Dirt build up
2) Slider shift
3) My inner brakes are toast

I have booked an appointment with Mazda for the AM but wondering if anyone has any other suggestions before I go. I plan to get some prices for some rotors and pads before I go, just in case, can't stand these crappy OEM ones.

It sounds like its just the pads. Worn pads is the greatest possibility. You won't really know until you get er on the lift.

I highly doubt that its your front pads that are worn only at 54k . Most likely it is the rears.

I just replace my pads this week cause the rear ones were squealing --- im at 53K
