Got springs installed yesterday. Got there on time, small delay in getting my car up but once it was, done in about 1 hour. Chris (guy who did the springs) was very nice and sorry for the delay even though I wasn't in a hurry.

Springs look and feel great. Great install!

+1 I wonder if a group install could be done

Everyone is saying his current price for a spring install is now 150

Maybe for a group he can bring it closer to 100 again :)

Anyone want to give it a shot?

it almost doesn't matter; the reality is that prices will change over time. Jimmy tends to charge for what he feels the job is worth; harder jobs obviously cost more, but he still has a business to run.

if he needs to charge more in order to stay afloat, i'm ok with that; he'll always be cheaper than going to a dealership.

Yesterday I brought my car over to Street Performance to get some work done. In two and a half hours I had my prokits, cross drilled rotors, brake pads and strut bar installed.

Rich worked on my ride and Jimmy jumped in when a hand was needed. The place was pretty busy especially later in the morning. They let me watch them work on my car and even pointed out a few things that they were doing. Its nice to know that Rich also has a Mazda3. There's a certain comfort level when the person working on your car knows your ride from personal experience.

Excellent work and great customer service.

Went to Jimmy's Tuesday afternoon to install my pro-kit springs. He did an excellent job, and even pointed out damages left by the people who installed my rims that I didn't know about. Just came back from Jimmy. He helped me try and find out the problem to my vibrating clutch issue and gave me some ideas as to what it could be. He swap a steelie for a rim for me and helped me fill up my tranny fluid as it was low.

Very funny guy to talk to and even though i was there for a while, time flew by really quickly. ON TOP OF THAT, HE DID NOT CHARGE ME ANYTHING. This was extremely generous of him. I did give him something but i felt that i didn't give him enough for what he did for me.

All in all, excellent service Jimmy. I will DEFINITELY come back for all my future problems although i live in Brampton. You are a little far but well worth the trip.

Thanks once again. A+ service

Went to go see Jimmy for an oil change and proper diagnosis of my car (thanks eqlso for referring him to me) and I was so glad I went there. He was very courteous and polite hahaha (even opened doors for me !). Service was great--did my oil change, put some kind of inhibitor and lubricant on my car's hinges and latches, checked tire pressure, etc. Also, he let me know exactly what was wrong with the car, and he even gave my car an overall inspection (checked suspension, underchassis, etc.) !!!

I'd definitely go back there again if I ever need my car serviced. Nice to know I've actually found a mechanic that is trustworthy. A+ !

Yes, Jimmy will absolutely install an intake for you. Price would depend on what type of intake, CAI vs. SRI etc. Best bet is to call him or pop round and ask him. I would expect the price to be lower than you'll pay anywhere else and the work to be top notch as always...

That's what I'm thinking. Might be nice for a group of us to just drop by with a small cake/gift and a Timmy's double-double for the guy. A nice way of showing our TM3 appreciation for him. That seems like a fair deal. In earlier posts you'll see that he charged $100 for the springs install alone. That alone is the best price you'll get anywhere.

so far i love it. Its noticeably stiffer, but it feels rock solid. But a few of the bigger bumps are harsher and you certainly feel it...the car pitches less and also less floaty/bouncy.

to add to jon's Question,

i asked Jim to set the rears to approx 20% from full soft. Not sure how he measures that. The front i have it at 1 full turn from full soft for now. Haven't played around it much yet.

I have that same problem but I figure it was because I went up 2 rim sizes... :blush I couldn't imagine it would be a rotors issue though, car is still fairly new (I'm only at 41K)

I'm thinking maybe mine are rotors mainly because my car is pretty high mileage now (142xxx)... or maybe I need a new set of tires or something... not sure. Didn't get a chance to drop by today so I'll probably go tomorrow or something if I don't get lazy.

Does anybody know if Street Performance issues their Oil Change receipts via computer or is it hand written? For my warranty to stay in effect all oil changes need to be done at a place that holds records on a computer system. Also can you just drive in at lunch hour and get a oil change done or is a appointment necessary?

Who told you that your warranty is dependant upon having them done with computer receipts and computer records??? That is a load of absolute tripe... If this came from the dealer, it amazes me they still try this crap with consumers. Which dealer said this by the way, assuming that is the case?
If this were true, this would essentially mean that everyone who changes their own oil is voiding their warranty, which is also a load of B.S.

You will get a handwritten receipt at Street Performance if you ask for one, that details the service performed, but I think they can do print-outs if necessary. Don't know for sure, as I don't ask for them. Perhaps someone else can chime in.

You will need to do appointments to have your oil change or any other work on your car. Jimmy is a seriously busy guy, but is also very accomodating. He also knows more about our cars than most Mazda dealer tech's out there.

This came from a used car dealership. His warranty actually states he must do the Oil changes but has agreed to let me have it done elsewhere on the condition it is recorded on computer. The warranty is held by him directly so any expense comes out of his pocket.

Trust in this dealer is backed by my mechanic (personal friend) who actually works on his vehicles and certifies them. I would not have bought from him with the backing from my mechanic.

Dealer is in Cambridge along with my mechanic while I live in Newmarket but work near Street Performance.

Basically, my experience with street performance is fantastic.

Great guys with prompt service!

I had a dent in rear bumper and got a new OEM bumper to be painted and installed by Richard @ Street Performance.

It looks.. so great. Paint was dead-on. And looks like nothing ever happneed.

I am very satisfied with their work. Took them around 50 mins to finish everything after promising 2 hours @ quote, then 1 hour on the day of. So didn't have to wait too long.

Best service you can get. At a very reasonable price too.

One of my ballast died on my HID fogs and was replaced within minutes by Rich. Jimmy and I managed to chat up about his shop while this was getting done. When it came down to payment, Rich refused to take my money.

Superb service once again from Jimmy and Richard @ street performance. I dropped off my new grill for paint. Richard was not in, Jimmy called him gave him the specs over the phone, I got a nice price on the spot. Had to wait for Richard (2 mins), so he could verify the paint code with his booklet. Picked it up couple days later. The paint matched perfectly and the car is looking better. :) Thank you guys. I will be dropping by soon to get my brakes done.

2 instances in the past week explains why Jimmy's my mechanic:

1. brakes needed emergency rebuilding, Jimmy came thru, and rebuilt my calipers so I couuld go to work.

2. Jimmy found a replacement OCC hose for me. This was after he fashioned a temporary fix that did the job. But the man took it upon himself to find me a better hose, and told me to come in to replace it.

SPC rear camber links
3000k HID Fogs (a balast came blown bought a while ago for cheap, if anyone has a spare for sale plz message me!)

The timing went smoothly, actually me and my friend had to train it and then bus it to markham, we were a little lost and jimmy called told us to get off the bus and picked us up on his way back from dinner...Anyways i just got the car back yesterday and all i can say is WOW, this is one mean ass machine now, i could tell the difference as soon as i turned the key. Im still breaking in the clutch 1200 more kms to go, but even driving conservatively its a night and day difference off the line and around corners. I think the only things i would add is new shocks and a short shifter.

A+++ to Jimmy everything went as smooth as i expected.

just wanted to say that it's always best to call jimmy for a quote rather than asking and posting prices on the board.

for instance hella installs can vary in prices depending on where one wants to mount them and what kind of setup (i.e. CAI vs stock) they are running. same goes for all other installs.

just saying that to avoid any confusion it's always best to get a quote from Jim directly.

Right now I'm sitting in the Coffee Time by Street Performance while Jimmy does a suspension swap and oil change for me. The service is always stellar although sometimes he gets behind schedule so you have to wait a bit. Best to schedule extra time when you come.

Something I'm not sure has been posted before - even thought Jimmy gives great cash prices, he also keeps full records of who was in and what was done, so there's never any question about what work he's done for you in the past. After reading so many good things about Jimmy I decided to give Street Performance a try. I called friday and I was given an appointment for 8pm Monday night. I got there at 8 and Jimmy was a little bit behing schedule so he told me to go grab a coffee. I returned 20 mins later and got my car up on to the hoist. Instead of being shooed away from the bay area, Jimmy was eager to talk to me and show me how the suspension install was done. 45 mins later, it was all done. I couldn't believe it:loco

Jimmy asked if he could take it for a quick test drive and as soon as he brought it back it had settled a little more and was looking alot sexier than the 4x4 i brought in lol...

All i have to say is from now on, Jimmy will be the only person to touch this car (unless of course theres something that he cant do, which i can imagine is nothing)

Amazing results for an amazing price :chuckle

I've never seen him do a headspin...! I'm not saying he can't do it; I'm just sayin I've never seen it...

I have to give props to Jim, again... He installed an oil pan baffle and BSD for me on Saturday. Last night I popped a CEL on my way home from work. I gave Jim a call and he told me to come by right away. The CEL, BTW, is related to a pooched secondary o2 sensor and has nothing to do with the install. Jim cleared the code and sent me on my way. Thanks again Jimmy!

Does he do timing belt/water pump installs (even though most of you are on timing chains)? I'm going to call him but wanted to ask here first.

Another great street performance experience. Had my HKS exhaust installed by Jimmy today. He was able to find gaskets to fit, and explained to me my options about extending it, if I choose to go that route. Really, I can't say enough good things about Jimmy, and the quality of work he does.

Thanks to Jimmy and Rich last Friday! Installed my Hella Supertones, clear reflectors and AEM CAI w/ Air bypass valve.

No CEL's, sounds great, performs better and was tested on the first day with that heavy rainstorm on Friday night on the DVP. Huge puddles, tons of water every where and the CAI performed like a champ! The clear reflectors look so much cleaner than the OEM reds. And the Hella Horn, used it today on some dumbass who tried to cut on the inside lane on a left hand turn.

Rich is just as great as Jimmy!! Recently had my gfs oem fogs installed on her RSX they gave me a great deal... and because they weren't 100% sure how to do the install.. since no instructions with the kit from acura... I paid half the fee... and paid the remainder when it was done two days later.. far cheaper then anywhere else... did a phenomenal job!!! and of course you got Jimmy running around making jokes and talking while you wait.....

Was at Jimmy's on Wednesday to have have the following performed on the 2005 Hatch:

- 72,000km service (the 24K Mazda service), including brake service and tire rotatation
- De-install of an OEM MS3 exhaust and re-install of the stock exhaust
- Install of a PRM intake
- Install of smoked LED tails and sidemarkers

As always, Jimmy did a fantastic job with everything and also checked the car completely over, engine mounts, suspension and tightened all the chassis bolts etc. al. He did all of the work noted with all the care and attention we all would want and expect from a technician. All this, and the total price was still less than what Mazda would have charged for just the 24K service.

Oh yah, he also noticed that I had PIAA wipers in the hatch of the car and that I hadn't asked him to put them on. The main reason is that I was simply going to do that myself. No chance there... Jimmy just went and installed them for me anyway, including cleaning the windshield and prepping it, free of charge.

Jimmy and Rich also previously installed the custom gauge set-up in my MS3 with boost, oil pressure and EGT gauges and have done some other minor work for me as well. The install of the gauges is a hell of a time consuming job to do cleanly and professionally and they did an amazing job.

I have been well overdue in posting here and thanking Jimmy and Rich for everything. We are lucky to have them as an extended part of the TM3 community. Really can't recommend them enough.

Thanks Guys!
Tim

Just had Jimmy install a cabin air filter and new rear brake pads on the 2005 hatch. The right rear seized up at some point and wore the pads down, so needed new ones.

BTW- Installing the cabin air filter looks like a real pain in the ass and much to our surprise, the car didn't even have one installed from the factory... It has one now.

As usual, great work and the more I get to know Jimmy, the more I like him and appreciate his work. Thanks Jim!

Was it the 05 that didn't have one? if i remember correctly, it was available 06 and up (although the 04 to 05 had the option to install it, but not from the dealer).

Yah, it was the 2005. The cabin air filter compartment is there already, but just didn't have a filter installed. I thought it was only the '04's that didn't have the cabin air filter.
