I bought these from MoT the other day and can't decide if they will hold all the snow, water and dirt during the winter months. Do you have them and what are your thoughts?

I use them all year round. They don't hold a lot of snow or water so I empty them when they start filling up.

I don't think they're allowed to sell them anymore with the MS3 since apparently the go pedal gets caught on them. :chuckle

some people have been complaining that they aren't deep enough to keep all the crap in.. then again they aren't as diligent as blunty ;)

Had mine for 2 winters, no problems here. I don't track alot of snow into the cars though. The do feel the backseat ones are little small and I wish they would anchor down.

I think they're ok. I use them year-round, and they usually hold in everything. However, they like to move around a lot (all of them except for the drivers seat). I do wish all the mats were anchored.

The only one that moves around is the front passenger side mat, the rear ones I've wedged underneath the front seat rails.

Easy to take out though if you wanted to clean them? Does the wedging cause one side of the mat to be slanted and then water/stuff runs down to the carpet along that side?

That's a good idea! I need to try that....

Yes.

Only for non speed 3's. I use mine all year round.

No problems since October 04.

I had to notch the edging on mine below the gas pedal.
Had the gas pedal get stuck down like 7 times before i cut the edging. Not a very nice experience to have.

Make sure you don't have the carpet mats underneath and it shouldn't be a problem.

I've decided to keep mine but I'll let you know if I run into that problem as well. I'm still waiting to break the 1000km mark on the car before I step on the gas :chuckle

Nope. I removed the carpet ones after the first time it jammed, Thinking that would fix it the problem. But it continued to happen until I cut it.

Had bought some $25 from Crappy Tire and they were nice and deep before I broke down and bought the Mazda ones. I just wish the mazda ones were nice and deep too.

The only problem is the mat doesn't cover foot rest area on the driver's side.

That's why you get a dead pedal. ;)

I've been using WeatherTech mats for years now. Nice soft rubber, and nice deep mats.

They're pricey though. :(

I always knock my boots off before i get in the car really good, but they did a good job of holding the snow and salt all winter (this winter was pretty sissy though)

I have worn a good foot groove in the drivers side one though, i wonder how long till i dig a hole clean through it! :)

Well I was cleaning the inside of my car and took the mats out and wouldn't you know it there is now a hole where the clutch pedal hits the mat (no i do not press the clutch to the floor when shifting) and there are now wear spots where my heels rest on the mat. The mats are only 3 months old :complain You would think for $100 they would make a decent mat for our cars.

I use the all-weather mats in the warmer months. I have better winter mats for use in the winter.

I just use a set of mats I picked up at Canadian Tire. I am not sure of the name brand, but they are very common. They are the reversable ones.

they are good!

but the drivers one cracked on me in one season!

That's why you get a dead pedal. ;)

Doesn't the snow and slush on you shoes/boots run down the dead pedal and under the mat, leaving a salt stain on the carpet?

I use a rubber backed carpet under that area.

It's nothing a little Simple Green can't fix.

Kind of defeats the purpose if you have to clean under them.

These mats are good and bad in my opinion, my pants were never wet getting out of the car, but i found that they slide forward sometimes because you can't use the little plastic piece to secure it. Almost gave me a heart attack a couple times! And almost blew my engine the first week I got my car :(

Huh? Are you talking about the little plastic hook? The all-weather mat hooks perfectly on the hook in my car. It doesn't move at all.

Yeah... the clearance below the gas pedal is not enough to have 2 sets of mats in the car.. only use one at a time.

On a side note..

The Mazdaspeed3 should not use the All Weather Mats.

The gas pedal is bigger (thats where they get all that Horse Power). BTW, Vlad modded his so it won't happen...

Did he cut away parts from the top of the mat?

I asked Patrique about this and he said he never had any issues, and suggested maybe people were putting them on top of the regular mats.

That is what the dealership had originally done, when i took them out it still didnt fit on, but i didnt think it would move so i left it. after i almost died, i trimmed the hole so it would work...a little innovation goes a long way!

any recommendations for a set of winter floor mats that don't cost an arm & a leg yet fit nicely in the mazda 3 sedan?
thanks

I have a cheap set of grey Crappy tire mats you can have for $10. I'll test fit them in your car if you want. If they don't fit I just might have a set of used OEM all weather mats laying around somewhere for cheap.

what is the quality of the rubber MZ3 mats? I like the look of them but from what people say they are soft and as rat says he already has a hole forming in his. I do want somthing that fits nice in foot wells.

The weather tech mats do they fit in there as they should?

would these mats be in the way if i push clutch all the way to the floor?

I was thinking of going for some crappy tire mats, but would those interfere with clutch?

They're extremely high quality rubber. That being said, I do not track much snow into my car either. That's just asking for salt stains that are just inconvenient to move.

It does hold enough for a trip or two. I'd recommend drying it once in a while, just like any other mat.
