I bought a borla off of ebay quite sometime ago, but have been holding off till winter was over....i've been itching to put it on and finally today i did. I originally wanted to wait till i had my springs/sway put on and do it all at once (at speedtech), but i've not found the time to drive all the way out there and wanted to hear the exhaust.

I just looked up yellowpages for some local shops. I figured an exhaust is an exhaust, how much can they screw up. Found one place that was willing to stay open for a little bit longer to install my system. Went to Preferred Mufflers in Oakville. THe install was quick, straight forward.

I was hoping that the installer would've been a bit smarter and kept the bubble wrap on till it was installed and take if off before the car started, but he took off the bubble wrap and dented (very very minor) the tip trying to fit it.

He looked like he was having a bit of a hard time with one of the clamps, hope its holding ok with no leaks. The tip is recessed as expected as it was designed for the hatch. I'll be taking it back in to have it extended next week.

As for the sound, a lot louder than i thought, Borla have been regarded as one of the quietest, but its still kinda loud for my taste. I'm hoping that it will quiet down with a bit more miles.

I'll post pics tomorrow when its light out and take some.

***edit***

took some pics today, front bumper, fresh from the garage, paint looks alright, but the mounted the plate bracket wrong.

yes, i realize its not centered right now, i'm not gonna worry about it till next week when i get it extended. I check pretty much after every drive right now to make sure its not melting the plastic (and its not).

the tip is a good size, but again, bit bigger than i thought from what i read online. But its alright.

should've taken a pic from further away to give a better idea i guess, once i get it extended, i'll post more pics and maybe a video.

Ouch, that sux that he dented the tip. I didnt they they would dent that easily :S

If you are planning to extended it later next week, I recommend that you have the clamps removed and the exhaust welded if you are planning to keep it for quite a while --- this is what i did with my ms exhaust.

Well, just got my Borla installed tonight on my sedan.....you can add me to the list of GTA'ers with a Borla. :)

All in all very happy with my purchase.

Install was fairly easy.......reciprocating saw made easy work of getting the old exhaust out. The install took under 2-1/2hrs......did it by myself........but I had to spend about 20 minutes trying to bend the cross member that was mangled out of the way of one of the bolts.

At Idle sounds pretty much like stock. Hammer on it and it seems to get pretty loud....a little louder than I expected.....but its all good. At cruising 3000rpm I would think its almost seems quieter than stock.

I definitely feel some improvement in torque......and the engine just seems run a lot quieter.......with the exception of the noise from the exhaust :)

Cheers,

Trevor

Very nice...I had a Borla muffler on my 99 Maxima and it was amazing. Sounded great...very deep and aggressive without being too loud. How does it sound on the 3? I loved it on my V6 but I'm curious how it sounds on a 4 banger. I was thinking about getting one but I'm nervous whenever I hear a Civic pass with an aftermarket muffler and it sounds like a dirtbike...I definitely want something deeper.

Its got a nice deep sound.....the rumble at idle sounds pretty cool.

doesn't sound like those rice civics I hear......or a dirtbike :)

the exhaust tip sits back a little on the sedan, so one day I will to take it in to get it extended.

Just gotta find a place in the GTA that can weld this type of stainless.(T-304 Stainless) I would guess there are lots of places....
