hey guys, im just wondering if anyone else experienced the same problem. the middle strip in my trunk window isnt working. it is the WEIRDEST thing ever because i checked to make sure there isnt a broken link in that strip by using the current tester (whatever you call it) and it beeps for every single strip meaning it isnt broken. however, when i turn on the defog, only the middle strip remains fogged up while the rest of the window defogs. i took it into the dealership and they couldnt find out what was wrong with it. at first they said it was because i tinted the windows which voided my warranty but i know the guy at the dealership so he tried to help me out without charging me but the problem right now is, no one can find out what is wrong with it. apparently, im not the only one with this problem according to the service department and the tinted windows shouldnt be the cause of this. i took it back to the place where i got my windows tinted and they tried to help me out as well but again, no luck. this is a mystery and i just want to know what is wrong with it so i can make the next move if necessary. please let me know what you guys think. thanks!

That happened to one of my prior cars after tinting, but is was because they cut the tint while it was on the window, and sliced a line... was a huge PITA. Never did get it fixed.

But now adays most tinters use the exterior to measure and cut or have computer cut templates.

Not really sure what you should do.

Did the person who tinted your car do the rear window in 1 piece or 2? If 2 well theres your answer, they usually cut along the defogger to use it as a guide when cutting and also it helps hide the cut from the exterior. With a 2 piece job they overlap the two tints on the inside and then cut to make sure that they line up perfectly, hence why they cut it on the interior and not exterior.

Unfortunately if it is a 2 piece tint job then I can almost assure you that it was cause of the tint. Maybe you can go back to whoever tinted your car and see what they can do for you, if Mazda wont help.

i can assure you that it was a 1 piece fit, no cut was needed, its not that mazda wont help, they just cant find out what is wrong with it. i took it back to the place where i got it tinted and they cant find out what was wrong with it, all the strips r connected because every strip beeped when using the current tester.

all the strips r connected because every strip beeped when using the current tester.

If they are using a normal multimeter they will all beep because they are wired in parallel..

If they are using a normal multimeter they will all beep because they are wired in parallel..

im sorry, i dont understand the part where they are all wired in parallel. when we did the test, each strip was tested separately and if we for example, put one wire on one strip and the other wire on a separate strip, then it did not beep, it seems that both wires had to be aimed at the same strip. i know that all the strips are interconnected somehow and if one goes out, they should all not work (with the exception that if one strip is broken or cut off),

ill try to find out what is wrong with it exactly when i have the time to check it out but i dont even know where to go anymore, apparently, the service department told me they've heard of this problem before and its not because of the tinted windows because others without tinted windows have had the same problems. if i know whats up, ill post here and let others know. thanks

nvm about me not understanding it, i got it now lol

Did it work before the tint went on?

i had my tint since august of 2005 and the one strip stopped working february 2007. again, markham mazda was VERY friendly and nice about it, they tried to find out what was wrong with it but no one had a clue what went wrong.
