Hi,

I'm a new user to the board, and got my Mazda3 almost 4 months ago now. I've been doing some reading on the boards and it looks like a lot of people have gotten their tinting done at FX Auto?

So I've got two questions:

1. Is FX Auto the best place to go? [price, quality, etc]
2. What's a good tint percentage? I like the look of having 5% (not sure if that's legal as well for the back), but don't know if it's really difficult to see at night.

If anyone has any opinions on the above, that'd be really great. Would help me make a decision better. Thanks everyone.

Going east of Toronto, I would recommend Audio Heaven. Jeff has tinted 3 of my previous cars.

On the west side, Car Decor in Mississauga has tinted my wifes ride and she loves it.

Both offers very competitive prices.....

PM me if you would like further info....

I just got my windows tinted today at Thornhil Tint. He did 20% all around and I like it. I should have done 5% on the back half of the car but oh well, alway next time

Not to knock audio heaven but they have an independent tinter come in once a week to tint vehicles.

What I recommend is to research the film that will be used

Call shops and get price quotes and what type of film they use

You can go to the 'best' shop but when the film they use is ass and gets bad reviews... then whats the point?

I researched extensively
I went to Tint Boys in Hamilton
For some reason Hamilton/Burlington shops were on average $100 cheaper than the GTA
The film they used was SolarGard (no U in Gard) and it gets excellent reviews and is considered to be one of the best with lifetime warranty (also a very important feature when getting tint)

Exactly. I've also heard good things about Llumar (double L).
Also, there are actually a lot of threads about tints lately so you should be able to find some good info. It looks like tinting season has officially started (got my appointment at FX made for May).

FX Auto did our 3....

I believe you still get a discount if you tell Wayne you are a TM3 member.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I've been doing a lot of reading on the forum and elsewhere. Probably want to stay in Toronto, so I'll check out what film is being used by some of the shops here.

What bout film percentages though? I like the look of 5% from the exterior, but I'm a little worried about driving at night with that. Anyone get 5% in the back?

I got 20% all around yesterday and if I were to do it all again, I would do 5% on the back and 20% on the fronts. Thats just my opinion. You can see pictures here here (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=17414)

My car has 20% on the front windows and 5% on the back. Looks great on a dark car! Also, I have no problems seeing out the back at night. All of my cars have had tints on them, so I may just be used to it by now. It may take you a while to get used to it, but there is really no problems with it. As for cops, 20% is legal on the front windows. Although, the law says it is up to the officer's discretion. You are allowed to have your rear windows are dark as you want, they only care about the fronts. I have been through several RIDE checks and no problems. The guards at the border made me put the windows down going across the border though! :)

This might seem like a silly question but for those of you with moonroofs, do you get them tinted as well? I believe there is a stock tint but it doesn't keep the heat out too well. Anyone done this? Does it help with keeping the temperature lower or is it a waste of time and money?
