Well, after talking to Wayne from FX Auto this morning, I've decided to go with them. I've got a 2007 M3 sedan, and had a "few" questions for him-LOL . I was really impressed with his customer service. You know when you are talking to someone and you get that feeling from their voice that you are bugging them with the questions, well that was totally opposite with him. Really nice guy and seemed concerned more for me and my car, and to make sure I was getting what I was looking for rather than just getting off the phone.
So Monday the 16th, I'm getting the tint (probably 25% or 30% -don't want it too dark), as well as the clear bra and rustproofing. In all about 6 hours and 575.00 later for TM3 members. Man a whole day at the mall.:loco
I will let yo all know how it goes when I get it done.
Oh yah I went to see Joe at T.O Mazda today too...great guy. I got the all weather floor mats, and I asked him about the tint he had on his car, cause I wanted to see what it looked like on the way out. He took me out himself and showed me his car and a buddy's as well. It was way easier to decide when you actually see it. Thanks!!!
S.
I'll be going to FX Auto when I pick up the car.
What sort of warranty they're providing on rustproofing?
And I guess they are pretty busy? Are they booked until the 16th?

Garu...I was told that the warranty for the rustproofing is lifetime, and it's good for 2 years and then it needs to be re-applied for a $50.00 cost.
As for booking it. I am available during the week cause I work shift work. They had openings next week actually, but I couldn't do it. So I did the 16th. I didn't ask, but Saturdays for them seemed busier and it may be weeks for an appointment then. If Sat. is what you want I suggest booking sooner than later.
S.
I've done the package yesterday, tint 20% all around, clear bra and rust proofing. Wayne also gave me a deal of $575. Which I think it's very good deal. The regular cost of three items are 225 for tint, 200 for the bra and 300 for rust proofing.
I think it took approximately 5 hours and they did an excellent job.

OK...I bailed on the rustproofing with FX. I've read more about the "wax type" and decided maybe not then after talking to the guy from Krown, and finding out that the APA, CAA, and the Lemon Aid Guide endorses/recommends them...I'm going to do it with them instead. $99.00 for the first and then that price stays the same throughout the life of the car.
As well another member said that the wax is a little yellow and didn't like the look of it on the inside of the doors etc.
S.
Let me know how it looks after they complete the job at Krown. I'd like to find that out.

I am planning to get 28% tint all around.
Question: Does anyone tint their moonroof?
I believe it comes with a factory tint but it is not very good at keeping the heat out.
Any thoughts on this?

Well overall I'm happy with things (so far) from FX.
I got a tint on my 07 M3 sedan (Grey Mica), I went with 30% all the way around. The guy there (not Wayne) said that 30% was the legal amount allowed on the front windows and I wanted the same all the way around so I went with it. It would have been nicer a little darker, but I'm still happy with it. There are a few minor water looking bubbles, but Wayne said they would go away after the sun gets on it. He said if they didn't they would replace it. Very nice overall job. And no I didn't do anything with my moonroof.!!
i also did the clear bra, and as I have posted in another thread there were a few water type bubbles and Wayne again assured me that they would go away too or they would replace it as well. Yes I can see the line at times, but only when I really look for it. Maybe it's the color of paint but on mine I'm cool with it and would do it again.
I also got a trailer hitch put on by them. It was a hidden hitch (no wiring), for a mountain bike rack. I talked to Wayne and he gave me a deal on the one in the showroom instead of the one at CTC. So I said let's see what it looks like. And believe it or not it wouldn't slide in the neck part! Wayne himself must have spent 10-15 minutes trying to sand down, lube etc. but with no luck. He feels that on the inside of the female end on my car that there is an area of a little excess paint/coating. So he has ordered another one for me, and I just need to call him when I'm ready.
The only thing that really really irritated me was when I was driving home I had to come to a quick stop, and to my surprise my baby seat went flying forward into my passenger seat. I guess when they did the back window they needed to remove it. I called Wayne from the nearest gas station, and told him I understand that it needs to be removed and maybe the guy wasn't sure how to install it again, but they should have let me know-my kid could have been in there. Wayne appologized and said that normally they place the car seat sideways so the customer notices. I said it was ok, but to let the guy know what happened so that he wouldn't do it again-I'd hate to hear of a child going forward like taht when you expected it to be secure.
I would say that the service at FX was really good, the car was ready sooner than later, and the price was good! Even with the car seat issue (mistakes happen and nobody was hurt) I would still go back to FX

P.S. I'll post in a few weeks how the tint bubbles and bra bubbles look-I'm leaving to Mexico for a week. (I'll be thinking about you guys-Ha yah right!! :loco
Don't worry about the bubbles on the tint, they will go away as it dries. Mine all disappeared after 3 days.
As for the bra, there are still some bubbles and it's been a week. Maybe because weather has been cold lately. If they don't disappear by the end of week, I'll pay them a visit.

Does anyone know if FX Auto installs a clear bra on the whole(full) hood on a mazda3 sedan? Don't know if I should get the bra whenever my car comes in.
They can't cover the whole hood due to size of the film. They only cover partial of the hood which is about 1/3 of your hood.

Samsvoc, I would say the clear bra goes up about 20" (1/3 as Garu said). They also put some on the side view mirrors, and in front of the front wheel wells down the side.
As for seeing it today...I really can't see the line when I am close to the car and looking at it, but when I go to the side I can. I just looked at it and I already saw one of those residual dust spots where a stone/dirt hit it. I just wiped with my finger and it's all good. I'm not sure if any damage would have been done without the bra, but I'm still happy.
After 2 days from installation my tint bubbles are gone, but there are still moisture bubbles in the bra. I'll just wait and see.

Hmmm, I may take my chances then and forgo the bra. I don't wash my car every week, so I'll see that dirty border and I know it will bother me more than a few stone chips. Since I have a few weeks to wait (thanks cn rail) for my car, I may change my mind. Does anyone have some closeup pics of a blue or any dark colour car with the hood bra? Thanks

Ok so I'm back from Mexico and I looked at the bubbles in the car bra, and they are still there after being a week and a half in the sun.
So I'm going back to FX on Friday to get the replacement hitch and ask about the bubbles, and there seems to be a small "fold" in the bra that was there initially and Wayne said it would go away too, but didn't. I hjope they just replace it-it seems to be an installation issue.
I'll keep you posted on Friday, but there is a small part of me that wishes it all was over with and just drive the car instead of going back and forth.
Maybe I shouldn't have done the bra...
S.
bubles are going no where .. that was a big lie :loco

Is that plastic film they make the bra out of even porous? I believe that tint film is very slightly porous so trapped air or water can escape. I doubt the same is true for the bra.

Had my tint done 2 years ago at FX (20% all-round), never had any problems and did go back last year to get the windshield band which they installed for nothing. They do great work and cover all their work promptly and have a great 20 year reputation to withhold, so don't worry they will take care of you.

Noticed there are 2 fx tint shops, one in Markham, and one in Oshawa, which one have you guys been dealing with?? I'm assuming the Markham one... need tints on my car.. and would really like to go to a reputable shop.
As for the Krown, have been taking my cars there for years!! the product is great... it does drip which is a pain in the butt, at the same time it does get into every nook and cranny!! which is great and really does stop the car from rusting, as well they are really good about it, if your car gets into an accident or has any body work all you have to do is take it back and they will re-spray the area no charge!! Not sure which one you guys are thinking of
I deal with the one in Richmond Hill
167 Center St e
between Newkirk & Yonge (bet major mackenzie & elgin mills).
this one is owned by an older gentleman and his wife, I think his name is Ray... if I'm not mistaken, the absolute nicest people in the world!!! Ray likes to talk and explain the product which can be tedious since im there every year... but he even remembers faces... ran into him at the auto show this year.. while he was at the booth and said Hi and even asked how the car was holding up... great service at a great price!!

I dealt with FX in Markham, great people there too and a big +1 for using Krown, that's all I'll use...great product, but yeah a little bit of a pain with not only the dripping but the seaping. When do you get yours sprayed? I'll be doing it this month and then a major detailing.

yeah the dripping really is a pain, especially cuz it stains the driveway... when i get it done it usually means pizza for the week, I just cut open the boxes and tape them down to the driveway so that it doesnt kill the driveway. works quite well too.. but the seaping is what helps till you get it on your clothes... usually get my car sprayed around september/october...

Finally got my 2007 GT Electric Blue Mazda3 last Friday. Went to FX Auto today to get the tint and clear bra installed. The tint is excellent. No bubbles. But the clear bra has one too many bubbles towards the front. I'll give it a week and then return to FX Auto if it hasn't improved. Overall, a very good experience dealing with Wayne.:whoa

I got the Pinnacle (ceramic material) 35% all around and the clear bra for the hood and fenders. I didn't want to get the mirrors done as you would see the lines. I paid $375+tax with Credit Card. To break it down, the tint was 250 and bra 125. The pinnacle costs about 100 more than the regular film but wayne gave it to me for half price over the cheaper stuff. Over all, very happy with the tint. I'll try to post some pics this week if anyone can tell how to post pics.

Just picked up my car from FX Auto and dealt with Wayne. Dropped by yesterday and was able to do my car today...nice !!! Super nice guy, answered my questions, very knowledgeable. Decided to go with the Pinnacle 35% as 20% were just too dark for me....
Very happy with my choice and definitely recommend FX Auto to anyone.

How long did you get it installed before it turned yellow?
I had mine for about 6 months, I haven't seen any change of colour.

I've had my vehicle done for tinting and undercoat and trust me, if they didn't do a good job (at a good price), I would not have taken in my mother-in-law's car. It was good work and they gave me a great deal. They also own the coin wash at Bur Oak and Hwy 48 in Markham - he gave me a bunch of tokens as well.
