I've looking for some background information of the club but I couldn't find any threads. Is there such information available somewhere?
I'm interested to know some history such as how it is founded, who are founders and when, the first meet, how the community got bigger...
I thin there are other members who are interested in know some of history of this club. :)

ill put my 2 cents in here
the member "TM3" is the orig founder of the website who put up the money for the site.
Xenon comes to mind as an origional founder 2nd to TM3
other members who were around since the beginnign of time since the board was founded (late 2003 i believe)
were the professor
bluntman
flippy

thats my 2 cents....from what i rememebr

If that's your 2 cents... I want my money back.

As for the history of the site.. that sounds about right.

as for more recently, last summer IIRC the site got massively hacked and was down for about a month or so... and what you see today was the new & improved version.

do you really have to go out of your way to make a post like this off topic to point out something silly linked to wikipedia?
do u believe everything that you read on teh internet?
did it ever occur to you that not everybody uses the same type of slang for everything, leaving room for different interpertations?
if you wish to continue this discussion (as childish as it is), please feel free to pm me, otherwize keep this thread on topic please.
Mods, clean this up, i feel that this topic should have great info in it, and possibly be made a sticky if we could get a lil sumary on how the site was founded.

Well I just wanted to correct you on your improper use of "two cents", but if we're going to talk about childish, useless posts, how about we refer to your "meh" written not once, but twice in my photoshoot post?

Hmmmmm well I sure ain't a Grandfather more like a grandson.

But from what I've learned in the past (almost a year)...

- TORONTOMAZDA3.COM was founded in 2004 by TM3 (Robin).
- There was a small admin team, with little/no moderators
- There was discussion of a new admin team (old timers? when was this?)
- In the summer of 2006 the site was hacked (twice) and was shut down for a little more than a month.
- During this time, the TM3 Den formed offering a temporary forum.
- During this time the new commitee/admin was voted on and the new site was under construction.
- Fall 2006 - current, TORONTOMAZDA3.CA (notice its now .ca) was opened, and here we are today.

- TORONTOMAZDA3.COM was founded in 2004 by Xenon.

ROFL!!!

umm no..

http://torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=7284

TM3 was the original owner/creator.. xenon may have been the original west end rep and stuff finally ended up funnelling through him when robin (tm3) did not have time to 'be the admin' and xenon took over.. he did initiate the decals, licence plate covers and touques.. tshirts never happened but were discussed.. he was the only other site admin next to TM3..

tm3.com was waaaaay better than current tm3.ca... too much politics here.. the crowd on the old board or even the den was way more civilized and mature.. less show offs and the meets were actually fun to attend and meet the peeps.. i remmeber joining in august of 2004.. it's been a while.. heh

lol, my mistake...I knew TM3 (Robin was the originator). Edited my post.

Its funny, in the thread you posted majic, only a few posts down Flippy didn't even have a 3!!! Wow, old post.

Correction from 3GFX's post:
Club was founded Feb 2004 by TM3
http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=7501&postcount=1

Xenon quickly became VP and took over administrator responsibilities, as TM3 had other activities to manage.
Xenon is the one that got the ball rolling when it comes to merchandise such as decals, license plate covers, polo shirts, club banner, etc.

I don't know if this answers your question regarding HOW it was founded
http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=7815&postcount=3

One of the reasons why it was founded was for discounts
http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=7960&postcount=11 (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=7815&postcount=3http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=7960&postcount=11)

As seen here

and here

the community got bigger through google search, mazda3forums and word of mouth. (Even though I still can't believe a CAT found it too! Which by the way, am I going to get to see it?)

Not that I don't have anything to say, but I'll let others continue from here as in my opinion, things eventually started going downhill. (I agree with majic when it comes to the dot com. Reason being - fewer members, things were simpler back then.)

Yeah I remember when I first signed up...the forum was new and the car was pretty much the new kid on the block... for the first 2-4weeks of ownership, got a lot of stares and so on...now it seems that there are more Mz3's than Civics... which is a good thing and a bad thing sort of thing :p

this is a cool thread,

perhaps one or a few of the originals would be interested in writing a brief history and we could post it in a sticky in the new users lounge, maybe we could have a few people write different sections that they are most familiar with.

as with anything, time moves on and people change,
it seems that a reasonable percentage of people have remained from the first 200 posters, it would be interesting to do some other stats and see what percentages stay 3 years from the next 200 people to post thier first post, my guess is it will be somewhat comparable (can we do stats like that easily majic?)

You guys have a very good memory. I don't think there was much that was missed if you combine all the posts in this thread.

The good ol' days were nice. In a way i miss them :( but one thing I don't really regret with the new TM3.ca is the larger meet attendence. It was pretty crappy when we had only 6 people at meets haha.

I'd be happy to fill in any blanks people have.
