Hey guys,
I am going to start looking into buying an iPod. Probably just a Nano, and probably a 4GB version (2 of em if the price is great LOL).
Where should I be looking for the best price? I am going to start with Futureshop, BestBuy, Canada Computers and Tiger Direct. I think I have seen them on sale for $179.
Thanks
John

Just worried about eBay, and warranty. Prefer to buy new also... but if it was cheap enough, a refurb. may also look into the Sandisk Sansa...
Opinions?
Thanks

Check the Apple website often......they regularly have factory refurbished iPods for a decent price. If you want brand new, most shops will sell them for the same price, though I know Canada Computers has discounted them by a couple of % in the past. If you buy through Apple they will engrave the iPods free of charge for you. I opted not to do this in case I decide to sell it down the road.
I bought my wife a Nano from Future Shop just because as I stated before they all charge pretty much the same and their exchange/return policy is great.

A ipod nano is like $230 plus tax at BB, I would get a 30 GB ipod for like $299 if it were me. I just got a Creative Zen:M and it is nice for only $230 plus tax

I like the nano for size. 30GB is ridiculous for me... far to much. No point in spending $75 more for something I wont use.
Going to look into the Sansa as well and see what the wheel is like on it.

This may be a stretch but maybe not....depending on which cell phone carrier you're with you might want to consider a strong MP3 cell phone. I have the SE W810i from Rogers and right now they have a promo going on where you get a 4GB memory card included with the purchase. Since getting this, I have literally not touched my Nano. I always have my cell with me, so this is just more convenient. Sure the interface is not nearly as easy to use or as nice as the iPod's, but it's a small inconvenience IMO.

Dude I thought that 2GB is too much for me and now, I wish that I had gotten the 30 GB one...
All things aside, Apple refurbished normally would have the best deals. Otherwise, ask a Xerox employee or a student to get it for you. 4GB nano brand new is listed as $215 and 30GB at $281 right now on Apple site (employee / student discount).
Or you can always wait for iPhone....

Apple announced via a press release today that it has sold its 100 millionth iPod. The first iPod was sold five and a half years ago, in November 2001, and since then Apple has introduced more than 10 new iPod models, including five generations of iPod, two generations of iPod mini, two generations of iPod nano and two generations of iPod shuffle.
“At this historic milestone, we want to thank music lovers everywhere for making iPod such an incredible success,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iPod has helped millions of people around the world rekindle their passion for music, and we’re thrilled to be a part of that.”
The iPod has also sparked an unprecedented ecosystem of over 4,000 accessories made specifically for the iPod that range from fashionable cases to speaker systems, and more than 70 percent of 2007-model US automobiles currently offer iPod connectivity.
“I take my running shoes and my iPod with me everywhere,” said Lance Armstrong, seven-time Tour de France champion. “I listen to music when I run. Having my music with me is really motivating.”

hahaha... Thanks for the help guys. I am REALLY leaning into the Sandisk Sansa series right now. Much cheaper and more features. All the reviews look awsome for it.
No dice on the cell phone idea. We are with Telus (This MP3 player is for the GF). She just bought the Chocolate, and will use this most of the day. Probably 7-10 hours a day, so the 20+ hour battery is a nice feature :)

You can find the same price anywhere, those stores usually have sales so you will find them a bit cheaper, if you dont mind getting a refurbished one, you can go to apple.ca and get one there, good prices.
