Anybody know if a garage door opener remote can be reprogrammed? I mean not just the remote of course but the opener itslef as well. long story short, GF's dad's van got stolen from their driveway and there is a remote in the van. we don't want the low lives coming back with the remote and popping the garage door open.

On mine, there's a button on the back of the motor box. When you press the button, it resets itself. Then you have to reprogram all the remotes for it.

Look at it to determine the brand and model and then search the Internet for instructions.

Some or most garage openers have switches at the back of the unit... If you can manually change the switches, you are good to go.. Just make sure you match the other remotes or else it wont work.
