Found a reasonably priced solution for an audio input for a stock HU that will take any source.
This is the same basic system as the iPod adapters but has RCA jacks to allow and audio input.
You can order (extra $)with RCA inputs or 3.5mm jack or (possibly) an iPod connector.
The RCA inputs are cheaper ($9.99)when you order them with the adapter system.
If you want another connector configuration, you pay a bit more.
This allows for sat radio input or any other source like Ipod headphone out or another type of MP3 player.
They ship to Canada via USPS so you don't get hosed by the corrier company "import" fees.

I bought mine a few years back from Discount Car Stereo (http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=445).
Is there anyway to split the audio input on the back of the stock stereo? I've got it filled with the audiolink, and I wouldn't mind being able to slit it if I get a screen at some point. Anyone know?

I bought mine a few years back from Discount Car Stereo (http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=445).
Just priced this out:
Shopping Cart Total: $92.96
Shipping estimate (Economy (Surface) Parcel Post): $22.45
Sub Total: $115.41 USD
I think I would rather spend the extra little bit of money and pick up the mazda audio link from Flippy for a little over $150 CAD. Then you get steering wheel controls and a fully charged ipod.

I had purchased the iPod unit from Flippy BUT after reading the manual, you can't really get around the menus the way you can with the iPod controls and you are locked out of the iPod controls.
I needed something different and thought I would post this find as some people have asked about audio for non iPod inputs.
The price from another local supplier was too high for my taste.

Thats a good point, I don't like the idea of having to make playlists on my ipod. I like to just keep it on "shuffle songs". This may be the best way to hook up my ipod and still listen to it the way I like.

That being said, back then, Discount Car Stereo was the only place that you could get the Aux-In.

Thats true. I guess there are pluses and minus's to each setup. Guess its just personal preference as to what you want.

In your case yes, but since this thread was started this morning it now mostly depends on what features people want and maybe the slight difference in price.

I did look to Discount first, but unfortunately, they didn't have the RCA cable in stock.
The upside is thatyou can use another type of MP3 player.
no...really...some people don't have Ipods...:)
The downside is it isn't as "cool" and won't charge the iPod.
And you can input sat radio.
As for 3GFX splitting...I don't think it would work.
